Chapter 75: The Clash of Dragon and Phoenix
Dragon Elephant Transformation.
As these words fell, the Demon Emperor’s gaze darkened. His spear trembled in his grip, and with a domineering stance, he thrust it toward the Demon Star. Instantly, a surge of blood energy erupted from the spear’s tip, coalescing into a crimson dragon. The blood dragon howled, its low roar echoing with the force of overturning rivers and seas. Under such momentum, even the very space trembled.
Faced with this earth-shattering spear, Demon Star’s expression changed dramatically. In that urgent moment, her eyes sharpened, hands weaving intricate seals. Before her, a massive wheel of flames appeared, bearing the image of a phoenix. The golden flames distorted the surrounding space, their aura seeming capable of incinerating all things.
Demon Star pressed her palm forward, sending the fiery wheel crashing toward the blood dragon.
Bang!
The two formidable attacks collided head-on, unleashing a shockwave that rattled the space itself. The terrifying force rippled outward, causing the cave’s domain to tremble.
The clash of such powers stunned Jiang Xiaofei. The sheer terror of this confrontation was beyond his imagining.
Lan Lianshuang was likewise shaken, her brows furrowed. “I wonder if Demon Star can withstand the Demon Emperor’s strength?”
Jiang Xiaofei remained silent, his eyes fixed firmly on the battle atop the platform.
On the platform, as the attacks canceled each other, both combatants were pushed back by the residual force.
The Demon Emperor, spear in hand, raised his head in disbelief. “I never expected, after suffering such severe wounds, you’d still possess such strength. I truly underestimated you. No wonder King Xiao spared no effort to seal you away.”
Demon Star burst into wild laughter. “You overestimate yourself! Don’t think that because my power is diminished, you can butcher me at will. You shall all die, and so will King Xiao. If I ever see the light of day again, I will tear him apart to avenge myself!”
Her words were laced with venom; her eyes burned with hatred, as if her grudge against King Xiao was carved into her bones.
Jiang Xiaofei frowned at this, curiosity about King Xiao growing within him. Though he knew King Xiao was a legendary figure of ancient China, he had never heard stories that could inspire such hatred. Clearly, King Xiao was no ordinary person.
On the platform, the Demon Emperor heard Demon Star’s threats and laughed. “King Xiao has long ascended to the divine ranks. Even I dare not seek vengeance. And you—do you think you can? You’re dreaming. If he hears you curse him behind his back, he might descend from heaven to erase you.”
“What?” Demon Star recoiled, murmuring, “Impossible. The gates of divinity are closed, the path to godhood is dim. How could he become a god? You’re lying. You must all die. All of you deserve death!”
Her fury grew boundless, and golden flames erupted with such intensity that the entire cave became unbearably hot.
---
Witnessing this, the Demon Emperor frowned. He hadn’t expected a single remark to so enrage Demon Star—hardly a good outcome.
He withdrew his spear into his palm and laughed. “Demon Star, King Xiao’s ascension is known throughout the world. If you aid me and willingly offer up the Phoenix True Fire, I promise to help you avenge yourself and slay King Xiao.”
Demon Star laughed coldly. “Why should I trust you?”
The Demon Emperor’s brow furrowed. “Because our goals are aligned. But King Xiao’s power is far beyond mine. Only by harnessing the Phoenix True Fire and achieving divinity myself will I have a chance to defeat him.”
“In the end, you just want me dead. If you want the Phoenix True Fire, come and take it! If you think you can seize it, you’re deluded.” Demon Star’s smile twisted with menace. Her jade hand flicked, and golden flames surged skyward, forming a fiery rainbow that rushed toward the Demon Emperor.
Confronted by the fiery onslaught, the Demon Emperor’s eyes darkened. “Since you seek death, I’ll grant it. Though it’ll cost me more, slaying you and seizing the Phoenix True Fire is worth it.”
“Demon Dragon Transformation, channeling the power of my bloodline.”
With these words, the Demon Emperor transformed into a colossal dragon, its entire body blood-red and covered in crimson scales. Its massive form coiled, resounding with sonic booms.
Its head, crowned with dragon horns and long whiskers, appeared both majestic and ferocious.
Even Jiang Xiaofei felt unsettled—he hadn’t expected the Demon Emperor to be the incarnation of an ancient demon dragon, though its bloodline seemed impure, likely a hybrid.
Jiang Xiaofei’s gaze sharpened.
The demon dragon’s jaws opened wide, baring savage fangs, and a pillar of monstrous energy spewed forth, meeting the fiery rainbow.
Bang!
The forceful collision shook the space.
Under the demon dragon’s assault, the fiery rainbow was overwhelmed, gradually forced back and suppressed.
Roar!
Seizing the advantage, the demon dragon unleashed a furious roar, its tremendous power erupting forth.
---
Bang!
The fiery rainbow was crushed, and a wave of force struck Demon Star, making her body tremble and sending blood spurting from her lips.
Taking advantage, the demon dragon’s massive tail whipped down like a giant lash, accompanied by a sonic boom, slamming fiercely into Demon Star.
The powerful blow sent Demon Star crashing into the rock wall, carving a massive crater and splintering it with cracks.
Her form slid down, coming to rest before Gao Muqiu. Gao Muqiu opened his eyes, saw Demon Star, and promptly shut them again, feigning unconsciousness.
Demon Star wiped the blood from her mouth and stepped toward the platform, her gaze dark and fixed on the demon dragon above as she laughed madly. “If you wish to compare bloodline power, let me show you the strength of the phoenix!”
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a phoenix’s cry rang out. Demon Star transformed into a golden blazing phoenix. Flames enveloped her, as if she were reborn from fire. The aura made Jiang Xiaofei’s heart tremble, the air scorching as if by furnace heat. He hurriedly channeled his protective energies to shield himself, feeling some relief. Lan Lianshuang likewise summoned her ice shuttle for protection.
Above the platform, the demon dragon stared at the blazing phoenix, its voice tinged with awe. “Ha! I never thought you’d survive my bloodline’s power and still live. Demon Star, you truly astonish me. If you regained your strength, no one in this world could stop you. But it ends here!”
With these words, the demon dragon’s maw glowed with swirling light, rapidly condensing into a blood-red dragon pearl. The pearl radiated with dark crimson patterns, ancient and ominous, emanating an aura of destructive power.
Yet the blazing phoenix showed no fear, laughing scornfully. “You dream of killing me with such power? Let me show you what it’s like to be burned by the Phoenix True Fire!”
As she spoke, the phoenix’s massive wings swept forward, stirring a gale. Endless golden flames surged forth, gathering into a colossal fireball.
The moment the fireball formed, Jiang Xiaofei’s face changed dramatically. He hurriedly called out to Lan Lianshuang, “Quick, run! Leave this place!”
