Chapter 44: A Man of Virtue
Hearing Zhou Shiqin’s words, Jiang Xiaofei knew there was no way to keep hiding the truth. He stopped and turned around, his tone calm as he said, “Since you want to know, come with me.”
“That’s more like it,” Zhou Shiqin replied with a satisfied nod and smile.
Jiang Xiaofei said nothing more and turned to walk ahead. Seeing this, Zhou Shiqin immediately followed him into Happiness Apartments. The two walked in silence, and soon they arrived at Room 223. Once inside, Zhou Shiqin finally spoke, “Now, will you tell me?”
Jiang Xiaofei sat on a small sofa and said, “I can tell you, but you have to promise to keep it a secret. Otherwise, I won’t say anything.”
Zhou Shiqin nodded solemnly, “Don’t worry, I’ll never tell a soul. If I betray your trust, I am not a woman.”
“Not a woman? Then what are you?” Jiang Xiaofei thought privately, but didn’t take her words seriously. He asked seriously, “Principal Zhou, have you ever heard of the Ghost Empress?”
Upon hearing this, Zhou Shiqin frowned slightly and nodded. “I have. It’s said the Ghost Empress is a woman who’s achieved great mastery in ghostly arts, ruling the Ghost Domain with unfathomable power. Legend has it that long ago, the sects of Mount Mao and Dragon Tiger Mountain joined forces to slay her, yet she still managed to escape. That alone shows how powerful she truly was.” She frowned again. “But why are you asking about her?”
Jiang Xiaofei replied, “To be honest, the Ghost Empress has been reborn into Gao Muqiu.”
“What? How is that possible?” Zhou Shiqin was stunned and found it hard to believe.
Jiang Xiaofei frowned slightly. “Principal Zhou, if you don’t believe me, just forget it.”
Zhou Shiqin quickly said, “It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just… what you’re saying is almost impossible to imagine!”
“Then let me explain how it happened.” With that, Jiang Xiaofei recounted the events, though he left out the matters of the Netherworld Ghost Art and the Ghost Immortal.
After listening, Zhou Shiqin was so shocked she was momentarily speechless. She could hardly believe someone could kill the powerful Ghost Empress, let alone that the Empress wasn’t truly dead and had been reborn in Gao Muqiu.
Jiang Xiaofei saw her expression and asked, “Now, Principal Zhou, do you believe me?”
It was only then that Zhou Shiqin came back to her senses. She looked at Jiang Xiaofei and asked, “Did your master, the Ghost Daoist, come?”
Jiang Xiaofei answered, “My master was seriously injured in his battle with the Ghost Empress, so he sent me. Before the Empress recovers her strength, I must destroy her completely. We can’t let her bring disaster upon the world.”
Jiang Xiaofei spoke with righteous resolve, and Zhou Shiqin believed him. “Do you need help from our Mage Association?” she asked.
Jiang Xiaofei shook his head. “I appreciate the offer, Principal Zhou, but for something this minor, there’s no need to trouble the association. I can handle the Ghost Empress myself. Besides, before leaving, my master specifically warned: if anyone dares interfere, once he’s recovered, he’ll come personally.”
Zhou Shiqin naturally caught the meaning behind his words. She smiled, “No need to say more. If anyone dares to interfere, our Mage Association will be the first to object.”
“Good.” Jiang Xiaofei nodded slightly. “Principal Zhou, now that you understand the situation, why don’t you head back?”
Zhou Shiqin frowned. “What, am I not welcome here?”
Jiang Xiaofei quickly smiled. “Of course you’re welcome. It’s just—being alone together as a man and woman, isn’t it a bit inappropriate?”
Hearing this, Zhou Shiqin looked at him with a teasing smile. “What, are you afraid I’ll eat you alive?”
Jiang Xiaofei hurried to explain, “That’s not it—I’m just afraid I won’t be able to control myself and do something foolish.”
Zhou Shiqin didn’t reply. Instead, she stood up and walked straight into the bedroom.
Seeing this, Jiang Xiaofei quickly followed. “Principal Zhou, what are you doing?”
She ignored him and began unbuttoning her loose top, revealing skin as pale as jade.
Jiang Xiaofei finally couldn’t hold back. “Principal Zhou, if you keep this up, I’m going to get angry!”
Zhou Shiqin said nothing. After taking off her top, she slipped off her shoes and lay down on the soft bed. She hadn’t taken off her pantyhose, since she wasn’t wearing trousers, but the scene was still enough to make Jiang Xiaofei’s heart race.
Then Zhou Shiqin laughed. “It’s already late. I won’t go back tonight. I’ll sleep here. Good night.” With that, she pulled up the covers and closed her eyes.
Left with no choice, Jiang Xiaofei turned off the light and left the bedroom, intending to sleep in the living room—only to realize there was nowhere to lie down; the four small curved sofas couldn’t be joined together.
In the end, Jiang Xiaofei returned to the bedroom.
As soon as he turned on the light, Zhou Shiqin opened her eyes and looked at him. “Weren’t you going to sleep outside? Why are you back?”
Jiang Xiaofei replied impatiently, “There’s nowhere to sleep out there. Where do you expect me to go?”
Zhou Shiqin nodded. “Alright then.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t touch you,” Jiang Xiaofei said as he took off his outer shirt and trousers, then lay down on the bed.
Seeing Jiang Xiaofei really just go to sleep, Zhou Shiqin felt a strange sense of disappointment. She turned away from him and curled up to sleep.
Suddenly, she felt a rush of air behind her and heard odd noises. Frowning, she asked, “What are you doing?”
Jiang Xiaofei replied, “I’m masturbating.”
At that, Zhou Shiqin sat up, face flushed with shock. “What, you’re actually doing that?”
Jiang Xiaofei answered indifferently, “You’re dressed so seductively—it’s obviously deliberate. How could I not?”
Zhou Shiqin blushed even deeper. “Still, you don’t have to do that!”
Jiang Xiaofei replied, “If I don’t, I’ll feel terrible all over. I have to take care of it.”
Zhou Shiqin found his reasoning oddly convincing and nodded. “Do you want me to help?” she offered, her face burning.
But Jiang Xiaofei replied, “I’d rather do it myself than be unfaithful.”
Zhou Shiqin was speechless, yet couldn’t argue.
At that moment, Jiang Xiaofei said, “I’m done. Going to sleep. Good night.”
Just as Zhou Shiqin was about to say something, Jiang Xiaofei rolled over, turning his back to her.
Seeing this, Zhou Shiqin could only give up and try to sleep.
