Chapter 22: Lan Chenzi
At the foot of Mount Maoshan, deep within a dense forest to the east, ripples suddenly shimmered through the empty air. From within this distortion, Jiang Xiaofei and Jun Yao emerged.
“My dear, I knew you’d come to save me,” Jiang Xiaofei said, taking a deep breath of fresh air. “But is it really alright for us to just leave like this? Your younger sister is still sealed within the Vajra Bell by that Ye Qingzi. Shouldn’t we go back and rescue her? We can bring her with us.”
Jun Yao frowned, her tone sharp. “Are you looking to die? There are many powerful masters on Maoshan—they’ll be after us soon. We need to go, now.”
“Oh,” Jiang Xiaofei replied with a slight nod.
But just as he was about to leave with Jun Yao, a cold, commanding voice thundered down from above. “Ghost Immortal, now that you’re here, why not stay awhile?”
Both Jiang Xiaofei and Jun Yao frowned and looked up. Floating high in the sky was an elderly Taoist clad in blue robes.
“My dear, who is that old man? His aura is even stronger than Ye Qingzi’s. How come I’ve never heard of anyone like him on Maoshan?”
Jun Yao’s expression darkened with concern. “His name is Lan Chenzi, Ye Qingzi’s senior martial brother. I didn’t expect this old fox to appear as well. In a moment, I’ll hold him off—take that chance to get away.”
“No way. If we leave, we leave together. I’ll never abandon you,” Jiang Xiaofei said firmly, his eyes resolute.
Seeing his determination, Jun Yao smiled. “Don’t worry. That old man is no match for
