That sword intent shot straight into the heavens, as though it could cleave the world in two. Winds roared across the sky and clouds churned, a hurricane taking shape as a terrifying pressure gathered overhead, like the apocalypse had arrived.

Under that pressure, everyone stared in shock. Some could barely keep their eyes open. The force seemed to embody destruction itself, plunging heaven and earth into darkness.

It was easy to imagine that such power could destroy the world. Who could possibly withstand it?

They were terrified—and yet they could hardly believe what they were seeing. Jiang Xiaofei had nearly died moments ago. Who could have imagined he would now unleash such dreadful power, a force that seemed capable of bringing heaven and earth to ruin?

Xiaoyaozi, too, looked stunned. Within that pressure, he sensed a threat.

He was a half-step Divine Dao powerhouse. If he felt threatened, then that strike must be comparable to the Half-Step Divine Dao realm.

The realization left him grave and incredulous. But making him afraid was another matter entirely.

He had countless disciples standing behind him. If he retreated now, he would be abandoning them—and inviting the whole world to laugh at him. Besides, he refused to believe Jiang Xiaofei could truly defeat him.

Jiang Xiaofei was astonished and delighted by the power released when the two swords joined, and Jun Yao was equally pleased. With the swords united, their might was immense. Why should they fear they could not defeat Xiaoyaozi?

They might even be able to kill him.

At that thought, the two immediately guided their sword intent down upon Xiaoyaozi.

The force descended with such terrifying power that it overturned the surrounding space. Under its assault, space itself seemed on the verge of shattering.

A dreadful pressure swept down.

Xiaoyaozi’s robes snapped in the gale, yet he stood firm, his killing intent surging like a raging tide.

He was, after all, a half-step Divine Dao powerhouse. Without real ability, he would never have been worthy of being Mount Mao’s founding patriarch.

“Great Wind-and-Cloud Palm!”

As the words fell, Xiaoyaozi swung his hand out, meeting the sword intent head-on.

A gigantic palm took shape.

Every Mount Mao disciple watched, shaken. This battle would decide whether Mount Mao lived or died. If Patriarch Xiaoyao lost, Mount Mao would be finished.

The Corpse King and Ghost King also kept their eyes fixed on the sky. They were not as tense as before, but the peril of the battle still left them unable to relax.

Boom!

When the Great Wind-and-Cloud Palm collided with that fearsome sword intent, a vast curtain of force burst forth, like a wall of wind, setting two utterly different powers against each other.

The space trembled violently beneath the impact, as though it could no longer bear such destructive force.

Jiang Xiaofei looked a little surprised. The power of the united swords was tremendous, yet Xiaoyaozi had still managed to withstand it. His foundations were clearly profound—far beyond those of an ordinary half-step Divine Dao cultivator.

But the united swords were more than a single sword strike.

“First slash: Cleave the Heavens!”

“Second slash: Cleave the Earth!”

At his words, Jiang Xiaofei drew upon the black-and-white swords, and two fearsome beams of sword light erupted, slashing toward Xiaoyaozi.

Clang!

The sword energy blazed like a rainbow, black and white, and tore straight through the wind wall, shattering the Great Wind-and-Cloud Palm. A tremendous force surged onward and struck Xiaoyaozi.

He was sent flying.

The sight left everyone stunned. Xiaoyaozi was a half-step Divine Dao powerhouse—how could he have been knocked back?

Was Jiang Xiaofei truly powerful enough to defeat even someone of that realm?

Despair and fear gripped the Mount Mao disciples. Their feud with him was already beyond mending. If Patriarch Xiaoyao fell, who could protect Mount Mao?

After steadying himself, Xiaoyaozi could not suppress a mouthful of blood. Jiang Xiaofei’s strength was beyond belief. He might already be capable of killing a half-step Divine Dao cultivator.

But Xiaoyaozi had cultivated the Dao for ten thousand years and was a once-in-a-generation genius. How could he accept defeat?

In his eyes, Jiang Xiaofei’s strength came from nothing more than the two divine swords.

Without them, Jiang Xiaofei would be no match for him.

Even so, Jiang Xiaofei could not be underestimated. To reach the peak of the Dao Extremity realm at such a young age was no ordinary feat. Xiaoyaozi even suspected that he came from some great clan.

The Divine Clan, for instance. Only a family of that stature could nurture such a monstrous genius.

Still, Xiaoyaozi would not be intimidated. His gaze darkened.

“Young man, whoever you are, anyone who dares make an enemy of Mount Mao is doomed. If you leave now, I may let bygones be bygones. Otherwise, you die!”

“Oh?” Jiang Xiaofei raised an eyebrow. “You’re only afraid now? Too bad—it’s already too late.”

As he spoke, he guided the black-and-white swords, sending a beam of sword light slashing toward Xiaoyaozi.

The beam fell, cleaving open the surrounding space. Its terrifying might came crashing down with it!

Xiaoyaozi was shocked and furious. “Don’t force my hand, boy!”

“Threefold Division of the Primordial Spirit!”

As the words fell, Xiaoyaozi rose into the air and split into three. All three bore the same aura, identical in every way.

Everyone stared, hardly able to believe their eyes.

Jiang Xiaofei frowned, unable to imagine that Xiaoyaozi still had such a trump card.

The three Xiaoyaozis attacked at once. It was as though three half-step Divine Dao powerhouses had joined forces; their combined power seemed capable of shaking the heavens, and they stopped the sword light in its tracks.

More than that, the three of them struck together and shattered the sword light. Then they advanced toward Jiang Xiaofei.

With every step they took, circles of incantations formed beneath their feet, like a cosmic compass descending upon Jiang Xiaofei and Jun Yao.

Their might seemed capable of crushing mountains and rivers.

The sight left everyone shaken. The Mount Mao disciples were especially exhilarated. In their eyes, Patriarch Xiaoyao would surely overpower Jiang Xiaofei now.

Facing the three Xiaoyaozis as they approached, Jiang Xiaofei felt the pressure. But he would never back down. He joined with Jun Yao, transforming into a colossal sword that towered to the heavens, and swung it down upon the three Xiaoyaozis.

As the sword fell, black and white light burst forth.

Beneath its sword intent, heaven and earth lost their color, and a force of destruction descended.

The cosmic compass crumbled beneath that power, and all three Xiaoyaozis were sent flying.

When they finally steadied themselves, each spat out a mouthful of blood. The two outer Xiaoyaozis soon dissipated, leaving only the one in the middle.

His face was pale and stricken. After splitting his primordial spirit three ways, he should have been invincible among half-step Divine Dao cultivators. Yet he had still been defeated. Just how powerful were those black-and-white swords?
