Chapter 105: The Outcome of the Contest
“What?!” The angrier Dong Xin became at Chen Hao’s words, the more furious she felt. In just a few minutes, she had lost her temper more times than she had in the entire past month. That brat was utterly infuriating.
From their brief skirmish moments ago, Dong Xin had come to realize that Chen Hao’s strength truly surpassed hers. She had unleashed all her skills in attacking him, yet she couldn’t even graze the hem of his clothes.
It wasn’t just that Chen Hao was faster; it seemed he had completely seen through and anticipated all her moves.
No matter what technique she used, no matter how cunning the angle of her attack, Chen Hao always found a way to effortlessly neutralize it. She felt like a salmon swimming upstream, chasing after him but never quite reaching her target.
Still, Dong Xin refused to believe the gap between them was as vast as he claimed. A single move to end the fight? Hmph! What a joke! She was no weakling. She was strong too, and she was determined to make him understand just how formidable she was!
But good intentions met a harsh reality. This time, Dong Xin lost even faster and more thoroughly.
Chen Hao had said beforehand he would use the Dong family’s martial arts against her. At first, Dong Xin scoffed at the idea. Using her own family’s techniques against her? That would only be self-defeating for Chen Hao. There was no way he could be more skilled or proficient in their martial arts than she was.
How many years had she trained in her family’s style? Chen Hao’s experience couldn’t possibly match that. Dong Xin was certain that Chen Hao hadn’t just learned their moves during their brief encounter—her Uncle Chen must have taught him some aspects of their martial arts before.
After all, Uncle Chen and her father had been long-time friends and rivals who knew each other’s techniques thoroughly. Just as her father had taught her some moves from the Chen family’s style.
However, she hadn’t studied it deeply—not only because the Chen style was somewhat eclectic and she was already overwhelmed with her own family’s martial arts, but also because she preferred the fierce, powerful Hung Fist style.
So Dong Xin didn’t believe Chen Hao’s words. Yet reality dealt her a brutal slap. She stood up, stretched her limbs, and saw Chen Hao take a perfectly standard stance from the Dong family’s martial arts before beckoning her with a finger. “Come on! You attack first.”
The more Dong Xin looked at him, the angrier she became. Blinded by rage, she charged at Chen Hao recklessly. Both parents watched, unable to bear it any longer. Suddenly, Chen Hao shouted, “Hey! Mountain Press!”
He shifted his body slightly, dodged Dong Xin’s strike, then rammed his shoulder into her. Dong Xin was sent flying again.
After falling, Dong Xin didn’t get up—not because Chen Hao had injured her badly, but because her pride was utterly shattered.
The “Mountain Press” technique was familiar to Dong Xin; she knew it well and had several counters prepared. When Chen Hao called out the move, she was ready.
Yet every counter she thought of was rendered a joke against Chen Hao’s assault. His speed was part of it, but she deeply realized his skill went beyond that—the cunning angles of attack, the precise timing, the force behind each strike—she simply couldn’t compare. Damn it! How had this younger kid reached this level? Had he been training since he was in the womb?
The more Dong Xin thought about it, the more wronged she felt, so she lay on the ground, refusing to get up.
After a while, Chen Hao grew worried. “Oh no! Did I hit her too hard? But I was careful to hold back when using Mountain Press!” He nervously approached and found Dong Xin crying on the ground.
“Waaah~~~”
“Uh... are you okay? Does anything hurt? I can take a look for you,” Chen Hao scratched his head.
“Waaah~~~” Dong Xin said nothing, just continued to weep.
“Don’t cry. If I hurt you, I’m sorry!”
“Waaah~~~” Still crying, Dong Xin ignored him.
Chen Hao was at a loss. He took a couple of steps forward. “How about I cook today, and you help me out?”
“Waaah~~~” The crying persisted.
“Still no good?” Chen Hao sighed and squatted beside her, patting her shoulder. “Fine, I’ll give you all my toys... or maybe I’ll just stand here and let you punch me to let off steam.”
As soon as he said that, Dong Xin suddenly stopped crying. She turned her face, smiling slyly, then locked Chen Hao’s body with her arms and legs, raising her fist to strike him hard.
Chen Hao had sensed something was off the moment she stopped crying—not because of the silence itself, but because when he touched her shoulder, he felt her muscles tense instantly.
At that moment, he realized her plan. This girl wasn’t just recklessly stubborn; she was calculating. Her crying was a ruse to attract his attention and lower his guard. She had been plotting a sneak attack all along.
Chen Hao had ways to counter her attack, but at this point, he softened. He had already beaten her twice. If he thwarted her sneak attack as well, her confidence would be shattered—she might give up martial arts altogether.
She could spiral down a dark path, from a blossoming talent of the nation’s future to a lost soul on the wrong road... cough cough.
In truth, Chen Hao hadn’t thought so deeply. He just didn’t want the hassle of her clinging to him again if he won once more. For his own comfort, he chose not to resist and let her have her way.
Thus, the scene unfolded of Chen Hao being locked down by Dong Xin’s legs.
But when her fist came down, Chen Hao didn’t foolishly take it. At the last moment, he remembered something his mother once told him—that a girl’s greatest weakness lay in her chest.
Although his mother hadn’t explained in detail, Chen Hao trusted her words and immediately thought that a weakness must be fragile. So, as Dong Xin’s fist struck, Chen Hao reached out with his “sinister claws” to attack her chest.
Naive Chen Hao had no idea how insulting this was to Dong Xin. Both parents watched in stunned silence as the two let out piercing cries simultaneously.
“Ah! That hurts!” Chen Hao shouted.
“You pervert!” Dong Xin yelled back.
“Hey, you brat, let go of my leg!” Chen Hao twisted his body.
“You little punk, let go of my hands!” Dong Xin struggled desperately to break free.
“Let go of my leg first!”
“No way! You let go of my hands first!”
“You let go first, then I will!”
“Why should I trust you?”
Their bickering kept them locked in place, faces flushed with frustration. If these were adults lying there in such an intimate pose, passersby would surely imagine all kinds of things.
But the only audience now were their fathers.
Dong Jianguo glared fiercely at Chen Ding’an. “Your son’s not simple at all! He even knows that move. Don’t tell me he’s self-taught at this age—he must’ve learned it from you! Why haven’t you taught him something better?”
Chen Ding’an could only smile wryly. “I swear on my life, I didn’t teach him that... I have no idea who he learned it from...”
“Hmph!” Dong Jianguo suspected Chen Ding’an was dodging the question. “Enough talk. Separate them!”
He stepped forward and forcefully pulled apart the two red-faced kids.
“This isn’t a martial arts match, it’s more like hooligans fighting,” Chen Ding’an muttered as he helped Dong Xin up and then hauled Chen Hao to his feet. “Alright, that’s enough for today. I think you both know the result well enough, so I won’t say more.”
Dong Jianguo nodded. “Yeah! Ding’an and I have some things to discuss. You two go play outside. Girl, you can take Chen Hao up the mountain to explore. He’s never been here before, so be a good host and look after him!”
Though Dong Xin was a hundred times reluctant—she didn’t want to take Chen Hao hiking or sightseeing; she wanted to spar with him more—she dared not argue with her father.
Finally, she shot Chen Hao an angry glare. “You little brat! Don’t think you’re great just because you won today. When my martial arts improve, I’ll definitely come find you for revenge!
“Now, as your host, I’ll reluctantly take you up the mountain to see some nature you city folk have never seen. You better behave—no funny business!”
“That girl’s mood really changes fast, just like Mom said...” Chen Hao muttered as he cheerfully followed Dong Xin out of the Dong family courtyard.
