Chapter Ninety-Seven: The Brewing of a Conspiracy

Tang Li had dominated the business world for nearly a decade. From graduating university to starting a small studio from scratch, she had fought her way up to founding one of the top three advertising companies in Jiang City, amassing a fortune of hundreds of millions. This cold and stunning female CEO believed every decision she made was absolutely right.
But today, letting that damned little boy stay overnight at her home was by far the worst decision she had ever made.
“President Tang, I was wrong... I really didn’t mean it,” Fu Yang whimpered, putting on a pitiful expression.
After considerable effort, Tang Li finally managed to free her hair intact from the zipper of Fu Yang’s jacket. Then, she gave him not a shred of warmth. Tossing her hair, she looked at him with icy eyes and said, “Find yourself any random room to sleep in, and don’t appear in front of me again!”
Without looking back, she walked away.
Sighing, Fu Yang lay back on the sofa, staring up at the ceiling. “Looks like this internship is completely ruined.”
But it wasn’t all bad. She had saved his life, let him experience the life of the wealthy, and even shared a little flirtation. Not a total loss, after all. Exhausted, he soon fell asleep right there on the sofa.
Meanwhile, in another upscale district of Jiang City, a luxurious Baroque-style villa stood. Inside its spacious study of about a hundred square meters, a middle-aged man with a cold expression paced anxiously.
His name was Wan Tiancheng, the head of a cultural media group with several subsidiaries. He was a prominent figure in Jiang City's business circles. Once a figure of the underworld during the early days of reform and opening up, he had completed a shadowy accumulation of wealth, then cleaned up his image, started companies, and made a fortune.
At a business banquet, Wan Tiancheng met Tang Li, the CEO of an advertising company. Instantly captivated by her beauty, he realized the woman he had long coveted was none other than this stunning female boss.
Confident in his own looks, he hatched a scheme to win both wealth and beauty. He pursued Tang Li relentlessly, adopting the persona of a domineering CEO.
Unfortunately, this tactic might work on teenage girls, but Tang Li, a similarly cold and aloof female CEO, never gave him the time of day. She even publicly humiliated him several times during dinners, ruining his pride.
Unable to win her favor or acquire her company, Wan Tiancheng’s dark side flared. Through connections in the wealthy elite, he found a sorcerer named Tuka Cha to “teach Tang Li a lesson.”

However, he never expected it would result in a death—not out of pity, but from fear that the police would come knocking.
Times had changed. He was now a wealthy businessman with a vast empire, no longer the feared underworld boss of old.
“Damn it! That damned Thai guy is completely unreliable. I should have looked for a Chinese Taoist or expert for the job,” Wan Tiancheng cursed furiously.
Just then, a servant reported a strange figure in a black robe had arrived.
“Let him in!” Wan Tiancheng commanded.
He took a drag from his cigar, exhaling smoke, as Tuka Cha entered. Wan Tiancheng was furious and forgot all respect for the “master.”
“You call yourself a Thai master? I gave you two million yuan, and this is the result? You haven’t achieved a single goal, and now the criminal police are involved! What if they trace it back to me?”
“Haha, Mr. Wan, you seem displeased with me?” Tuka Cha threw off his robe, revealing a gaunt body covered in bruises and faint traces of blood. He had been battered by Tang Li’s high-powered Land Rover but survived—his vitality rivaled that of a cockroach.
“Mr. Wan, I’ve done my best for your reward. Give me another million, or else...” He smiled, baring sharp, beast-like teeth.
Wan Tiancheng paused, then laughed heartily. “You threaten me? I’m the one who threatens others!”
He pulled out a large-caliber pistol from his desk drawer and pointed it at Tuka Cha.
“You sorcerers are nothing but dirty mercenaries for the powerful like me. A dog threatening its master? Today I’ll show you...” Wan Tiancheng arrogantly aimed the gun, noticing a flicker of fear on Tuka Cha’s face. He mistook it for intimidation and smugly thought about reneging on the promised bonus.
But then Tuka Cha bent low, his hoarse voice trembling: “Leader, you’re here...”
Leader?
Wan Tiancheng was stunned.
A melodious female voice sounded behind him.
“Tuka Cha, not bad. Slacking off on assignments from the organization and taking private jobs to make money?”
“Who!?” Wan Tiancheng spun around and saw a terrifying sight.

A breathtakingly beautiful woman hovered in the air.
Below her neck, there was no body.
Instead, a swirling mass of black, serpentine mist writhed.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Wan Tiancheng fired three silenced shots.
Bullets passed through the black mist without causing any harm.
In response, two ribbon-like tendrils of black mist shot out, piercing his collarbones, tearing flesh and bone.
Then, forcefully dragging him like a dog to the rosewood desk, they bound him tightly and sealed his mouth.
Muffled cries escaped from Wan Tiancheng’s mouth, his eyes filled with boundless terror.
The black mist beneath the woman’s neck slowly dispersed, revealing a voluptuous, fiery figure descending gracefully to the luxurious carpet three feet below.
She was a fatal beauty, radiating a mature and commanding aura.
Quickly, the black mist transformed into a black robe, cloaking her form, and a hood concealed her face, leaving only the lower half of her nose visible.
“Leader, I... I...” Tuka Cha stammered in obvious fear.
A sorcerer who had mastered the Hundred Flowers Flying Head Curse was clearly terrified before this stunning beauty, an incongruous sight.
“I’m doing this all for our plan, but money is essential. Tuka Cha thought he could make some money on the side to hand over to you, leader, as common funds... After all, headquarters doesn’t support our operation. It’s been entirely financed out of your pocket.”
Tuka Cha forced a flattering smile, but his grotesque appearance only made him more repulsive.
“Oh? Your loyalty is commendable.”
The black-robed woman reached out a slender finger to stroke Tuka Cha’s bald head, making him tremble all over.
“You’re right. Our plan will require vast resources and money. You’ve given me a great idea. We’ll proceed like this...”
She turned toward Wan Tiancheng, still bound by the black mist ropes at the desk. Her alluring crimson lips curled into a knowing, triumphant smile.
A conspiracy was beginning to brew...
