Chapter 118: The Reinforcements Arrive After the Battle Is Won
This sight made Fu Yang’s heart skip a beat.
"What's going on? Don't tell me something went wrong after all..."
Wei Ke scanned the area and said indifferently, "There are signs of chaos, but no traces of a supernatural battle. It is possible that they were frightened or received a notification, so they all evacuated."
Fu Yang breathed a sigh of relief. As long as there were no mass casualties, that was fine. It seemed that after Tang Li and the other wealthy business owners escaped, they must have told everyone at the banquet to leave.
"Hmm?"
Wei Ke’s breathtakingly beautiful face suddenly turned cold, her gaze fixed directly on the main entrance.
Bang!
The heavy doors of the banquet hall were seemingly burst open by a tremendous force. Two dark figures charged in with an aggressive air.
"Hmph! So there are still little rats left alive?"
Wei Ke let out a cold snort, black mist churning around her as she prepared to unleash a thunderous strike.
Fu Yang suddenly shouted, "Wei Ke, don't! It’s A-Huang and Wang Jian. They aren't enemies."
As soon as he spoke, a cheeky voice came from the opposite side.
"Oh? Little Yang, you're okay? You managed to escape safely?"
"Damn it! Are you actually hoping something happened to me? Do you want me to stuff ten pounds of catfish down your throat?"
"Already being corrupted by Master Bear so soon? Forget it, might as well throw this fat cat away..."
Held in Fu Yang’s arms, Master Bear flew into a rage. "Can you two stop dragging me into your banter?"
A slip of talisman paper glowing with white light shot from A-Huang’s hand and hovered in the air, illuminating nearly half of the banquet hall. Fu Yang then saw a sight that startled him.
In front of him, Wang Jian and A-Huang were riding on two large horses—so that was how they had burst through the heavy doors. However, these two horses were actually folded from white spirit paper. They looked exactly like the paper horses burned for the dead as offerings to the underworld, their eyes dotted with cinnabar to appear red... It looked eerie and deeply unsettling.
Wei Ke frowned slightly. "A Paper Necromancer?"
Fu Yang nodded. "Exactly. This is Wang Jian, a special agent from the Zero Division of the National Security Bureau. He is also the head of the Jiangcheng Police Department’s supernatural crimes division."
A-Huang and Wang Jian dismounted. The two paper horses instantly shrank to the size of a palm and, with a soft *whoosh*, burned into two small piles of ash. It was clear that the methods of a Paper Necromancer were indeed bizarre.
Seeing Wei Ke nearby, A-Huang immediately offered a flattering smile. "I was wondering how Little Yang and that fat cat, Master Bear, could be unscathed. So, her Majesty has arrived. Long time no see, heh heh."
As they were all acquaintances, Wei Ke gave A-Huang a sidelong glance of annoyance and nodded slightly. The guy was winking at Fu Yang, as if to say: *You’re a real stud, aren't you? Managed to sweet-talk your Queen into submission?*
Ever since entering, Wang Jian hadn't said a word, staring fixedly at Wei Ke. His muscles were tense, and his expression was full of caution. A-Huang had never gotten along with him; if Fu Yang hadn't sent a text message urging him to contact Wang Jian, A-Huang would probably have preferred never to see this pretentious jerk again.
"What are you staring at? That’s my brother’s... Queen! Can you show some respect?" He had originally wanted to say "brother's woman," but he wasn't sure if their relationship was officially confirmed, nor did he know how much of Wei Ke’s previous anger had subsided. At the last second, he forced himself to change "woman" to "Queen."
Wei Ke looked at Wang Jian. "A formidable Paper Necromancer. Compared to that evil Daoist from earlier, you aren't much behind."
Wang Jian’s tone remained detached, devoid of any emotion. "A Ghost King... a Ghost King without sin? Who exactly are you? There is no record of you in the files of the National Security Bureau’s Zero Division."
In truth, for any entity with power exceeding that of a Three-Seal Adept, the Zero Division would find a way to compile a file for their agents to study. Wang Jian had reviewed all the files on known Ghost King-level entities, and none of them featured a super-beauty like Wei Ke.
Wei Ke gave a cold laugh. "The state is powerful, but do you really think it’s omnipotent? Your official archives probably don't even cover half of the supernatural world. Besides, a character like you isn't qualified to know my origins!"
As she spoke, the black mist around her condensed into the phantom image of a Ghost Gate, and she stared at Wang Jian with deep displeasure. Even Fu Yang and Master Bear felt a truly oppressive, chilling pressure.
*Wei Ke is truly too fierce,* Fu Yang thought to himself. *If... suppose I really am with her? Would I be a victim of domestic violence every day? And there wouldn't even be anyone to complain to...*
At that moment, this was the thought running through Fu Yang’s mind.
It had to be said, a Ghost King is a Ghost King! Even if her power had suffered some setbacks, her mere presence was enough to make most people in the supernatural world bow their heads. Wang Jian was a cocky individual—possessing great power, eerie paper arts, and a high-ranking position in a government department—but under the weight of Wei Ke’s aura, he could only choose to remain silent, at most keeping his lips pressed tightly together.
"Alright, Fu Yang. I’m going home to rest for a while. Once you’re finished here, remember: be home on time!"
She emphasized the word "on time," seemingly still bothered by the fact that Fu Yang had spent the night with a beautiful CEO. This left Fu Yang complaining bitterly: *Damn it, Tang Li and I didn't do anything! Why does it feel like I’ve cheated and am being barely forgiven? Not to mention that our relationship hasn't even been clearly defined yet...*
But he dared not say any of this, so he could only nod obediently.
Whoosh!
A gust of ghostly wind rose out of thin air. The churning black mist condensed and shrank, then vanished along with the Ghost King, Wei Ke.
Once she disappeared, the atmosphere in the hall immediately lightened. Fu Yang, Master Bear, A-Huang, and Wang Jian all breathed a sigh of relief.
Master Bear stood on its hind legs and clenched its furry little paws. "Queen Wei Ke is so beautiful, she must like cute things like me! Keep it up, Bear, you’ll definitely win her favor."
*Smack! Smack! Smack!*
The only response it received was Fu Yang’s signature three-hit combo.
"Little Yang, it seems that even if Wei Ke says she’s angry, her actions speak louder than words. She came running to save you and beat up that evil Daoist, didn't she?" A-Huang winked and draped an arm around Fu Yang’s shoulder, clearly envious. To have the protection and affection of a Ghost King—was this the result of good karma from a past life?
"Fu Yang, what happened tonight? Can you give me a detailed account of the situation here?" Wang Jian observed the surroundings and asked.
"No problem, Special Agent Wang. I’ll cooperate. Let’s head back to the police station to file a report, and I’ll explain everything in detail."
Wang Jian looked at him for a moment and nodded slowly. "Very well."
