Chapter 109: The Terrifying Glass Curse (Part III)
It was horrifying enough to have shards of glass growing from the muscles beneath one’s skin, but the fact that they were moving on their own made it truly nightmarish.
Cheng Xiao’s agonizing screams and grotesque appearance drew the attention of every business magnate in the room, causing them to overlook the word "master" that Wan Tiancheng had just uttered. However, Fu Yang, who was seated further back, had heard it clearly. A chill ran through him.
"Master? It seems Wan Tiancheng didn't hire some sorcerer to cast spells just to intimidate these wealthy men into developing the Jiangda Forest Farm with him. He’s being controlled by one... Wait! The Jiangcheng University Forest Farm?"
A sudden realization struck Fu Yang. Earlier, Wan Tiancheng had spoken of uniting these business leaders to lobby the school and the government for the rights to develop the forest farm. Fu Yang knew exactly what kind of place that forest farm was. If a sorcerer was pulling the strings, it certainly wasn't to build residential properties for profit.
"Could Liu Mengshu be controlling him? But he doesn't know black magic. No, that Thai shaman, Tukacha, does!"
Fu Yang suddenly recalled the encounter at the botanical garden, where Liu Mengshu had been working alongside Tukacha against the Corpse-Demon Tree. It was clear they were in league with each other.
"That explains it. It’s obvious that Liu Mengshu is eyeing the cursed land of the forest farm and has teamed up with Tukacha to manipulate Wan Tiancheng. Under the guise of a property developer, he can cordon off whatever land he wants, day or night, and do as he pleases. What a brilliant scheme."
Despite his seemingly carefree demeanor, Fu Yang was sharp-witted. By connecting the details, he had deduced the conspiracy with uncanny accuracy. What he didn't expect, however, was that even Liu Mengshu was currently subservient to someone else out of necessity. The true mastermind, the one using these wealthy pawns to gain "legitimate" rights to the forest farm, was that mysterious organization and the alluring woman in the black robe.
"Help me, save me, please..." Cheng Xiao rolled on the floor in agony. The large cluster of glass shards in his chest had become more active, spreading toward his torso and limbs, creating tumor-like bulges all over his body. Beneath his exposed skin, one could clearly see the finger-sized shards shifting.
*Squish, squish...*
The glass forcing its way through his flesh produced a dull, grinding sound that made everyone present shudder, as if they had fallen into an icy abyss in the dead of winter. Some of the fainter-hearted were already sliding off their chairs in terror. Poor Boss Cheng had become the "chicken" sacrificed to scare the "monkeys" simply because he had poor relations with Wan Tiancheng and had argued with him a few times in the past.
Wan Tiancheng stood calmly at the front, surrounded by men in black, his expression dark and his lips curled in a smug, triumphant sneer. Although the "Glass Curse" itself terrified even him, seeing his rival suffer brought him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
"The leader promised that if I obey and act as a loyal servant, she will let me be the proxy once the group is consolidated. By then..." A burning desire rose in Wan Tiancheng’s heart.
"What the hell! If Tukacha and Liu Mengshu are really here, this is trouble," Fu Yang thought, feeling a spike of tension. "I can't handle them alone. I don't want to end up being the one who gets crushed."
He quickly pulled out his phone and typed a text to A-Huang: "Wanhao Hotel, come immediately! Notify Wang Jian of the Zero Unit—major conspiracy!" Seeing the message send, he felt a slight relief. Although he and A-Huang couldn't stand Wang Jian’s arrogant attitude—as A-Huang once put it, the only thing missing was a rocket strapped to his back so he could fly straight to heaven—they had to admit that Wang Jian was powerful and had the official backing to mobilize significant resources.
"If A-Huang and Wang Jian act together and call in the SWAT team to surround this place, we should be able to take down Liu Mengshu and Tukacha in one go," he reasoned. He let out a long breath, knowing he could no longer stand by.
"What are you doing?" Tang Li asked, startled as Fu Yang stood up, grabbing his hand tightly.
"Ms. Tang, I can't just watch a man die. I used my 'Evil-Viewing Technique'—Cheng Xiao doesn't have any heavy sins. He’s not a cutthroat businessman. I have to save him." With that, he gently disengaged from her warm, delicate hand and strode out.
Wan Tiancheng’s eyes flickered, locking onto Fu Yang as he walked toward the suffering Cheng Xiao. "That's Tang Li’s boy toy... I’ve been pursuing her for so long and haven't gotten anywhere, and a little brat like you dares to step in?" His jealousy flared, and he secretly decided that after he forced these magnates to sign the contracts, he would abduct Tang Li and have Master Tukacha use a curse even more horrific than the Glass Curse on this brat.
The others watched Fu Yang, wondering what this twenty-something-year-old intended to do.
"Save me, save me..." Cheng Xiao, driven to the brink of insanity by the curse, grabbed Fu Yang’s ankle and wailed as he approached.
"I don't know much about this twisted black magic. I’ve heard of the Glass Curse, but it’s far more potent than the 'Living Corpse Curse' Tang Li was once afflicted with. Standard Taoist techniques won't work. I’ll have to try the power of the Ghost Path."
Fu Yang made up his mind. The power of the Ghost Path was both righteous and evil, incredibly domineering and filled with malice. With a thought, the energy stored in his heart condensed into his palm. He pressed his middle and index fingers together and tapped Cheng Xiao’s *Xuanji* acupoint on his chest. A surge of overbearing black energy flowed into the point and entered his body.
"What is this damn brat doing?" Wan Tiancheng’s expression shifted; he sensed that Fu Yang might actually have some skill.
The moment the Ghost Path energy entered Cheng Xiao, it acted like a tiger released from its cage, surging through his body to hunt down the glass shards.
"Ahhh!" The poor man’s screams intensified.
Finally, under the gaze of everyone, the shards that had been scattered throughout his body were forced by the black energy back into a single cluster in Cheng Xiao’s abdomen. His belly swelled, looking like that of a pregnant woman.
*Gurgle, gurgle.*
The glass shards squirmed like insects inside his stomach, making bizarre sounds. Fu Yang pressed his fingers together like a blade again, slicing horizontally across the bulging area.
*Splat.*
He opened a slit, yet no blood flowed. Instead, the squirming shards poured out like small stones. It took nearly half a minute for them all to fall out, piling up on the floor with a weight of at least two or three pounds. The Glass Curse had been broken by Fu Yang’s Ghost Path energy.
