Chapter Forty-Five: What Is the Name of My Relationship with Her
Bai Chenxi introduced warmly, “Grandma, this is my friend, Lin Yue.”
Lin Yue greeted politely, “Hello, Grandpa, Grandma, I’m Lin Yue!”
He had already guessed who these two people were. He just hadn’t expected Bai Chenxi to be so accomplished now—quietly meeting the parents without any fuss.
“Lin Yue, this is…” Bai Chenxi hesitated. How should she explain? If she didn’t mention Chu Muyun, would she just say they were neighbors?
Grandma Chu had no such concerns and spoke generously, “Hello! I’m Chu Muyun’s grandmother.”
[w, k, it really is Chu Muyun’s grandparents.]
[Just now Bai Chenxi called them Grandpa and Grandma. I have a bold idea…]
[Do you think these two have already…]
[How is that possible? What else would you call them? It’s just a form of address.]
[Exactly.]
[But why isn’t the camera showing them? Let me see my future grandparents.]
[Didn’t you see Bai Chenxi blocking the view just now? She definitely doesn’t want them filmed.]
[The idol is very protective of his family. Bai Chenxi did the right thing.]
[Can I say I’m turning from a solo fan to a CP fan? Someone wake me up, please.]
[Sister, I can’t wake you up, because I’m already…]
[You all should leave! From now on, the idol is mine alone…]
[Not a chance up ahead.]
[The idol is mine!!!]
Bai Chenxi was stunned: Grandma, you’re so straightforward—does your grandson know?
Grandma Chu continued, “Chenxi’s friends are our friends. Thank you for always taking care of Chenxi.”
Lin Yue smiled with polite composure, “No need to thank me. Chenxi is my friend. Of course I’ll look after her.”
Grandma Chu thought to herself: The rival has shown up at the doorstep, and my grandson is away on business. All I can do is help him maintain some presence.
After walking the dog, Lin Yue took his leave. He had just returned and needed to rest.
Bai Chenxi led Caesar inside. As soon as she released the leash, Caesar walked straight back to his own bed without so much as a glance at Bai Chenxi.
Bai Chenxi watched Caesar turn away and addressed the camera, “Come on, you be the judge—who’s bullying whom here~”
[Sister, don’t cry, give Caesar to me!]
[Not a chance, Caesar is mine.]
[Caesar belongs to the idol—so sooner or later, he’ll be mine.]
Luckily, Bai Chenxi didn’t see these comments, or she would have been even more disheartened.
Now even Caesar’s popularity surpassed hers. If anyone wondered what it meant to be less popular than a dog, this was it.
“This is outrageous. The goddess belongs to Chu-ge…”
Xiao Wen sat nearby, muttering as he scrolled on his phone, fingers tapping away at the keyboard.
Chu Muyun hadn’t planned to pay him any mind, until he caught fragmented mentions of “goddess” from Xiao Wen’s lips.
“What are you mumbling about over there?” Could Bai Chenxi have gotten into trouble again? With her intelligence, nothing would surprise him.
Xiao Wen heard Chu Muyun’s question and, for once, didn’t mention the goddess’s business. Instead, he gripped his phone and stammered, “N-nothing. I was just thinking about tomorrow’s schedule.”
Chu Muyun glanced at him, “Are you going to tell me, or should I check myself?”
That look made Xiao Wen panic, and he spilled everything, “Chu-ge, I really wasn’t hiding it on purpose. I just thought you’d get angry if you saw!”
Chu Muyun said impatiently, “What happened? Quick, tell me.”
Xiao Wen stuttered, “It’s… the goddess had a livestream today.”
Chu Muyun remained silent, gesturing for him to continue.
Xiao Wen gritted his teeth, “She went to the airport to pick up Lin Yue, and a lot of people online said their interactions were really sweet. They even said… even said…”
“What else?” Lin Yue—the one who’s always been rumored as her boyfriend?
“They said the goddess has a crush on Lin Yue.” Seeing his boss’s face darken, Xiao Wen’s survival instincts kicked in, “Those people don’t know anything, they’re just making things up. Boss, you’re so handsome—how could the goddess like anyone else! It’s all nonsense.”
“Phone.”
“Huh?” Xiao Wen didn’t react—what phone?
Seeing Chu Muyun’s outstretched hand, he hesitantly handed over his phone, cautiously muttering, “Chu-ge, don’t be mad. It’s all fake.”
Taking the phone, Chu Muyun saw the headline: “Lingxi CP Sweet Mutual Gaze.” He rubbed his brow—how irritating.
Watching Bai Chenxi in the video, blushing as she looked at Lin Yue, Chu Muyun couldn’t quite describe his feelings, only that he felt uncomfortable all over.
Amazing. With him, she always met his gaze with a glare, but with Lin Yue, she was shy and flushed.
Chu Muyun impatiently closed the video and scrolled through the comments.
[Lingxi CP is so sweet! I can’t take it anymore.]
[Oh my god! My first CP to ship.]
[Lingxi CP, let’s go! Let’s go!]
[That gaze was full of love. I bet they’re real.]
[Exactly. There’s no spark at all with Chu Muyun, but with Lin Yue, there are all these subtle pink moments, aren’t there?]
“Spark?” Chu Muyun thought to himself, What on earth is that? And “pink moments”—so saccharine. Do people really want to see this sort of thing?
Looking at the screen full of “Lingxi CP,” Chu Muyun felt oddly dazzled: “Is it really ‘Heart and Mind Connected’?” They certainly dared to use that.
“What’s ours called?” Chu Muyun asked, awkward but with a hint of expectation in his heart.
Of course, he wasn’t looking forward to a CP name for himself and Bai Chenxi, but he was curious what interesting names netizens might come up with.
“What’s called what?” Xiao Wen looked at his boss in confusion. Lately, Chu-ge’s words were getting harder and harder to understand.
Xiao Wen seemed to be getting slower lately. Then again, perhaps it was true that fans take after their idols, and Bai Chenxi wasn’t exactly known for her intellect.
“Lingxi CP—so what’s mine and hers called?” Chu Muyun practically ground the words out.
“Oh! Chu-ge, that’s what you mean!” Xiao Wen finally understood. Chu-ge wanted to know their CP name; why not just say so? No need to be embarrassed.
But thinking of their CP name, Xiao Wen felt troubled.
“Face-Slapping CP.”
He blurted it out quickly—if he spoke fast enough, maybe it wouldn’t count as him saying it.
“What?” Chu Muyun could hardly believe his ears. What kind of ridiculous name was that?
Xiao Wen explained, “You and the goddess both said you weren’t together, so the CP fans are hoping you’ll slap yourselves in the face by getting together, so they call you ‘Face-Slapping CP.’”
After hearing the explanation, Chu Muyun was torn between laughter and exasperation. What a silly name! How was it that other people’s CP names were so poetic, and his was such a letdown?
Such an absurd name surely wasn’t coined by his own fans. Judging from the style, it must have been Bai Chenxi’s fans.
Chu Muyun seemed to have some misconceptions about his own fans.
In fact, at the start, when their relationship was just rumor, Chu Muyun’s fans were quite excited. The excitement was like watching the cabbage they’d raised for years finally grow up.
So, for the rare rumors, they paid close attention. Some fans even deliberately came up with CP names for them. They brainstormed plenty, but none stood out.
Until someone said: “Both have clarified their relationship, and Bai Chenxi even said she’s not afraid to be proven wrong. Clearly, nothing’s happening. Why are you still making up names? Got too much time on your hands?”
So it was decided: Let’s call it ‘Face-Slapping CP.’
The name caught on quickly—simple and distinctive. If they really got together, it would indeed be a slap in the face.
Because the name was catchy and suited the gossip-hungry masses, it spread far and wide. Everyone knew about the ‘Face-Slapping CP’ waiting for a twist, but had forgotten their original CP name.
In fact, their original name was ‘Twilight-Dawn CP’—standing by your side every day, watching the clouds at dusk and the light at dawn together.
