Chapter Fifty-Three: Out of Control (3)
No one knew how much time had passed.
With trembling hands gripping the edge of the table, Mu Jiu'er struggled to her feet, her entire body weak and powerless.
“It’s nothing, it must be nothing, I’m just letting my imagination run wild!”
With a thud, her legs gave out and she collapsed back to the floor, gazing blankly outside the base as tears streamed down her cheeks...
...
At that moment, in the devastated residential district.
The darkness as deep as an abyss began to yield to a faint light.
Yet still, countless black lines darted back and forth in the vicinity.
At the center of the zone.
Mu Chen walked forward slowly, head lowered and muttering to himself. With every step he took, the space around him seemed unable to withstand an enormous pressure, and the scenes nearby twisted and blurred as if reality itself warped at his presence.
Suddenly, he raised his head. His expression betrayed neither joy nor sorrow, and his lifeless black eyes seemed to pierce through all things.
He extended his right arm, palm facing the sky. With a sudden upward swing, the red mist within a two-kilometer radius instantly evaporated!
A shrill, hysterical screech broke out from the “Lord Biliuzi” not far from him, madness overwhelming its senses. Black lines darted wildly around it as it desperately tried to evade, but within the chaos, only another shadow emerged among the frenzied streaks.
Yet in mere seconds, its eight limbs curled inwards, and the once terrifying head lost all its ferocity, beginning to wither away...
Mu Chen paid no mind to the death of Lord Biliuzi beside him.
His body swayed slightly, then vanished, reappearing high in the air. Before his form fully materialized, he appeared on the other side of the sky, the air thick with chaotic energy.
If one observed carefully, they would notice that while his movements seemed aimless, the direction of his teleportation was inevitably towards the grain storage base.
...
Within his consciousness, Mu Chen’s sensations were unique.
Cold. Isolated. Lost...
It felt as if he were sinking into a frozen abyssal sea, countless threads stretching from the depths to bind him.
He could think, and all his memories remained intact, but it seemed that was all he could do.
His eyes could no longer see; everything was enveloped in darkness.
But even with his eyes closed, the world outside unfolded clearly in his mind.
“A lord-level Biliuzi died just like that... after merely looking at me—no, not me, but ‘it’...”
Mu Chen was both astonished and elated.
“Such terrifying destructive power. If left unchecked, it would not be surprising if this could annihilate the world.”
He hoped Ai Wei and Little Bone had already escaped far away. If they encountered this, it would be the last thing he wanted.
This thought lingered, but he was helpless; his body was entirely beyond his control now.
As he fretted, the changing environment around him startled him once more.
“This is... above the grain storage base?”
His vision encompassed a sweeping view of the base. Beneath one of the grain storehouses, the Ten-Deaths Beast, covered in wounds, was on the verge of death, surrounded by the corpses of over a dozen Biliuzi.
However, more than ten Biliuzi still lurked nearby, eyeing their prey.
At that moment, both the Ten-Deaths Beast and the Biliuzi found themselves involuntarily gazing skyward. Then, their bodies began to wither.
Mu Chen watched with mounting concern, hoping his body would go nowhere else, and would simply remain here for two more hours...
Five minutes.
Ten minutes...
Fortunately, Mu Chen did nothing further above the grain storage base, allowing his consciousness to breathe a sigh of relief.
At the same time, a juvenile Aberration wandered near the base. Lacking any sense or reason, it paid no heed to anything else. When the corpse of a Biliuzi appeared within its sight, its instincts drove it to devour the spider-like body.
As it approached, a black line pierced its form. In less than a second, the young Aberration collapsed, lifeless...
The grain storage base, shrouded by black lines, was utterly devoid of life. Through his vision, Mu Chen realized even the hidden monsters within had perished.
“To see means instant death; to be touched by the black lines is also instant death...”
He surmised that this must be an ability of the eye he had yet to master.
While he pondered this, his body’s perspective slowly shifted eastward.
Moreover, Mu Chen unexpectedly sensed a feeling of joy.
“So, this containment really has emotions?”
“That’s... the direction of the food processing plant! If memory serves, there are quite a few Evil Infant Dolls there...”
...
Ai Wei had already taken Little Bone and returned to the road leading away from the grain storage base. She didn’t know why the red mist had vanished nearby, but they had traveled a good distance from the area.
Suddenly.
A presence of absolute darkness and indescribable dread swept out from the direction of the grain storage base.
The aura was utterly chaotic, yet it carried a strange, familiar undertone.
When she realized the source of that familiarity, her face changed abruptly, fear and unease flooding her heart.
“Lord Mu Chen...”
After a moment’s hesitation.
“We must turn back!”
Once the thought arose, it was impossible to suppress, and Ai Wei was deeply anxious at the crossroads.
Just as she prepared to return with Little Bone, the faint, despairing wails of monsters echoed from the grain storage base, filled with hopelessness, one after another, as if they were mere denizens of the red mist. In this moment, their king had returned.
“Leave, now! Do not look back!”
Mu Chen’s previous warning resurfaced in Ai Wei’s mind.
Though the urge to return was powerful, the memory of his caution gradually quelled the impulse.
Little Bone was even more decisive, sprawling flat on the ground and refusing to budge, no matter how Ai Wei urged. Left with no choice, Ai Wei scooped it up and continued to retreat.
She did not know what scene was unfolding behind her, but she trusted Mu Chen.
In these few short days, she had clearly sensed that Mu Chen was a man of vision, not one to act rashly.
Since he had told her to stay away and only return after two hours, she would follow his instructions. If she returned now, who knew what disaster might ensue.
Carrying Little Bone in her arms, she started the “Expulsion” and slowly disappeared into the red mist.
“Lord Mu Chen, may the holy light forever shield you...”

...
By now, Mu Chen hovered above the food processing plant. As a faint prompt sounded in his ear, his expression—which had been blank—suddenly flickered with a trace of confusion.
Drip...
A black raindrop struck the ground.
Within seconds, rain began to fall, centered on the processing plant, growing heavier by the moment!
Above the sky, an evil reflection was beginning to take shape...
