Chapter 150: Clearing the Field
A dozen breaths later.
Xiao Yang withdrew his sword.
Of the nearly nine hundred bronze-ranked assassins, not a single one remained standing.
Although a few had managed to slip through the cracks, trapped in this scene reminiscent of an Asura hell, their legs had turned to jelly, entirely unable to support their weight.
They could only stare blankly at Xiao Yang, a single thought echoing in their minds:
If they could survive this, they must stay as far away from this man as possible.
Yet, at this moment, they could see no hope of survival whatsoever.
"A dozen seconds, a bit too slow!" Xiao Yang said indifferently.
Simultaneously, he raised his sword and pointed it at the remaining gold- and silver-ranked assassins.
"All of you come at once. I'm in a hurry."
Observing the darkening sky, Xiao Yang was eager to return as soon as possible.
"Having killed a few low-level assassins, you really think you're invincible."
"Ignorant!"
"Let us teach this arrogant brat one final lesson."
Stung by Xiao Yang's provocative behavior, the assassins grew somewhat angry.
They all decided to make their move and teach Xiao Yang a lesson.
However, two among these assassins thought differently.
One of them was Phantom.
Having witnessed Xiao Yang's combat prowess, he truly had no confidence left to fight back.
Moreover, he was currently poisoned and urgently needed the antidote.
The other was the number one gold-ranked assassin, Wandering Soul.
He had already broken through the Great Grandmaster realm and attained the Martial Marquis realm.
He, too, used a sword, yet he felt entirely bewildered by the sword qi unleashed by Xiao Yang.
While sword qi did not always equate to absolute strength, the scale of sword qi generally reflected a swordsman's inner qi.
The sword qi erupted by Xiao Yang clearly far surpassed the first layer of the Martial Marquis realm.
"Everyone attack together. This brat is most likely a half-step Martial Marquis," Wandering Soul suddenly said.
The other assassins all nodded.
From the battle just moments ago, they had all realized something.
If it came to single combat, not a single assassin present was a match for Xiao Yang.
Therefore, only one path remained.
A coordinated assault!
"Very good, I'll listen to Boss Wandering Soul."
"I agree."
"Seconded!"
Soon, all the gold-ranked assassins reached a consensus.
"Since everyone agrees, let's begin. Once we deal with this fellow, we can discuss the distribution of the bounty."
The group of gold-ranked assassins understood very well.
If they did not unite to deal with Xiao Yang now and instead engaged in infighting, every single one of them would die here.
Seeing the assassins agree, Wandering Soul nodded with satisfaction.
*Go ahead. Once you're killed, that fellow's inner qi should be mostly depleted, and then I will make my move.*
He sneered inwardly.
"Kill!"
The next instant, Wandering Soul took the lead and charged forward.
Yet, very soon, he was overtaken by the other assassins.
The group of silver-ranked assassins swarmed forward in a frenzy.
Xiao Yang narrowed his eyes slightly.
"I haven't used the other divine artifacts yet. Today, I'll test them out on you all, and incidentally use this to deter any other petty minds."
With a single thought, a large seal materialized in his hand.
It was none of other than the Qilin Seal, one of the Five Divine Artifacts.
He channeled his inner qi into it.
One-tenth of his inner qi vanished instantly before the Qilin Seal showed any reaction.
Without hesitation, Xiao Yang hurled it forward.
Seeing this, the surrounding assassins instinctively tried to dodge.
"Watch out! That brat has thrown out some sort of spiritual artifact!"
Some assassins even shouted warnings.
However, the moment the Qilin Seal left his hand, it began to expand rapidly.
Within a breath's time, it grew to a hundred zhang in size.
Concurrently, Xiao Yang sensed that he could manipulate the massive seal at will.
"What kind of spiritual artifact is this? Why has it become so colossal?"
Stunned, several assassins stared dumbly at the hundred-zhang-wide Qilin Seal, unable to recover their senses for a long time.
What awaited them, however, was the descending seal plunging straight down from above.
"Die!"
At Xiao Yang's single word, the Qilin Seal slammed down simultaneously. Even though these individuals were all Great Grandmasters, escaping within a single breath was utterly impossible.
They could only watch helplessly as the Qilin Seal crushed down upon them.
"No, impossible, no..."
Boom!
A deafening roar echoed, and the earth trembled violently.
Everyone was dumbfounded.
They suddenly realized a terrifying truth: they were simply not in the same league as Xiao Yang.
With just a flick of his finger, their side would suffer devastating losses.
In an instant, nobody knew who started it, but the group of silver-ranked assassins fled in panic, no longer daring to linger for even a second.
They banished all thoughts of the bounty; right now, their only desire was to escape this place as quickly as possible.
"Want to leave? Did you ask my permission?"
Xiao Yang sneered.
With a thought, the Qilin Seal was recalled, and a crown materialized above his head.
He channeled his inner qi into it frantically.
Soon, the phantom of an Azure Dragon emerged.
Yet, at this moment, no one dared to look up.
Right then, a dragon roar that shook the heavens resounded.
"Roar!"
This generated a violent shockwave.
When Xiao Yang looked up again, over a hundred silver-ranked assassins had already collapsed to the ground.
Moreover, blood was seeping from their facial orifices, dead beyond a doubt.
"The Azure Dragon Crown is apparently meant for amplifying spiritual power and launching spiritual attacks."
Xiao Yang could also sense that the recent attack had consumed not only inner qi but also a portion of his spiritual power.
He felt a slight wave of fatigue.
"Let's test the Vermilion Bird Wings next."
In an instant, a pair of wings sprouted from Xiao Yang's back.
By now, the remaining gold-ranked assassins finally understood that the truly laughable ones were not Xiao Yang, but themselves.
Xiao Yang had clearly broken through to the Martial Marquis realm; wanting to slaughter them was effortless.
Realizing this, they cast aside all pride, gritting their teeth and sprinting frantically to escape.
Suddenly, a cry resembling that of a phoenix rang out from behind them.
A daring gold-ranked assassin turned his head to look, but saw nothing.
At that very moment, a pillar of fire erupted abruptly.
In a fraction of a second, the gold-ranked assassin was enveloped by raging flames.
Before he could even utter a single scream, he was reduced to a heap of charcoal.
The rest of the gold-ranked assassins finally looked up, instantly spotting a giant bird engulfed entirely in roaring flames.
"What on earth is this monster?"
Flight!
In a certain sense, that was an ability possessed only upon reaching the Martial King realm.
Yet this youth had transformed in the blink of an eye into a giant flaming bird, soaring through the sky.
"Flaming Feathers!"
At Xiao Yang's command, countless burning feathers, each a foot long, condensed around his body.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Thousands of feathers poured down like a torrential rainstorm.
With just this single strike, only two gold-ranked assassins survived.
Furthermore, both of those survivors wore expressions of lingering terror.
The previous attack was sheer, explosive devastation.
Each feather was comparable to a hand grenade, and over a dozen assassins had been blasted beyond recognition.
"The ability of the Vermilion Bird Wings is to transform into the Vermilion Bird. This trick is quite useful for clearing the field."
That single strike had instantly obliterated over a dozen assassins at the tenth layer of the Great Grandmaster realm.
If deployed on a battlefield, this single move of his would likely kill more than half of an army numbering in the tens of thousands.
At that moment, Phantom suddenly moved.
He raised the dagger in his hand and thrust it fiercely toward Wandering Soul's waist and abdomen.
Plop!
Because the attack came out of nowhere, even though Wandering Soul tried to dodge, it was already too late.
A deep slash was carved directly across his stomach.
"You..."
Leaping backward, Wandering Soul stared at Phantom in utter astonishment.
