Chapter 85: You Certainly Know a Lot
Chu Feng scoffed, "So what? Even if he is the Child of Destiny, I’ll kill him all the same."
"Hahaha." The old Heart Demon burst into laughter. "Chu Feng, do you know why I laugh? I laugh at your utter ignorance of the Child of Destiny’s true power. The Child of Destiny bears the favor of Heaven itself, overseen by the very laws of fate. Whoever tries to kill him is defying the heavens, and divine punishment will surely follow. Besides, you cannot kill him—he always turns misfortune into blessing, surviving every calamity, growing stronger with each battle."
"Chu Feng, one day, you will die by Han Feng’s hand."
Chu Feng dismissed him coldly, "I understand the Child of Destiny far better than you."
"Do you know why I crippled Han Feng’s cultivation, blinded him, yet left him alive?"
The old Heart Demon sneered, "Because you don’t dare kill him."
"If I killed him, the backlash from the heavens would fall upon me, and I would perish as well," Chu Feng retorted. "But I, Chu Feng, am not trash like you. If I wanted him dead, Child of Destiny or not, Heaven’s favorite or not, I could end him without a second thought. I spared him for a reason—he’s nothing but a crop to be harvested."
"Just like this time."
"By humiliating him and crippling him, his fortune diminishes. Do this four or five times, and his destiny will fall away. So far, I've suppressed him twice; this is the third."
As he spoke, Chu Feng stretched out his hand. The Heaven-Scorching Sword appeared in his grasp, and he slashed at the fleeing Han Feng.
A miserable scream rang out. With this strike, Chu Feng severed one of Han Feng’s arms. The severed limb instantly ignited, turning to ash.
"My arm! Chu Feng, you will die a wretched death!" Han Feng roared.
Initially, Chu Feng intended to let Han Feng go, but at that moment he changed his mind. With another stroke, he cut out Han Feng’s tongue.
"Foul-mouthed as you are, you might as well become mute."
The old Heart Demon’s face changed dramatically, disbelief in his eyes. "How is this possible? Han Feng is the Child of Destiny, and even possesses a system comparable to an immortal artifact. How can you harm him at will and suffer no consequences?"
After learning Han Feng’s greatest secret, the old Heart Demon had pondered his true identity—the legendary Child of Destiny. Any harm done to such a being was supposed to invite the wrath of Heaven. If Chu Feng had injured Han Feng before, he should have suffered punishment. Yet now, Chu Feng seemed utterly unharmed.
This could only mean that Chu Feng’s destiny surpassed Han Feng’s.
Chu Feng snorted, "No wonder you’d sacrifice yourself for Han Feng—even know about his system. But surely you don’t think he’s the only one with a system?"
"I, Chu Feng, not only have a system, but mine is of a higher grade, my destiny greater than his. Killing him would be as simple as crushing an ant. Destiny is his, but it is also mine; my fate can suppress his with ease."
"Even Heaven would not dare punish me for killing him."
"No, how could this be..." The old Heart Demon was completely broken. All his life, with a cultivation at the Fusion stage, he had been feared by all as the Ancestor of Heart Demons. And yet, for the sake of a legend, a destiny, he had willingly sacrificed himself, only to buy Han Feng a little time. Now, he realized that all his efforts had been nothing but a joke.
Laughter echoed.
Chu Feng had no interest in the old Heart Demon any longer. With a single sword stroke, he ended his life; the old demon’s head soared skyward.
[Congratulations, host, on slaying the Heart Demon Ancestor at the Fusion stage. You have gained 100,000 Fortune Points.]
So little.
Then the voice rang out again.
[Congratulations, host, for once again suppressing the Child of Destiny, Han Feng. You have gained 3,000,000 Fortune Points.]
Chu Feng glanced at Han Feng’s attribute panel.
[Name: Han Feng.]
[Age: 1,050 years.]
[Level: Late-stage Tribulation Sovereign.]
[Han Feng: Lifelong nemesis of the host. Though your cultivation is still beneath his, you possess various immortal-level divine arts. Even if you cannot defeat him, you can always escape. However, host is advised to avoid provoking Han Feng. Do not make an enemy of him.]
[Fortune Points: 1,800,000.]
"Useless system," Chu Feng muttered with an eye-roll.
The system seemed to have collapsed once again.
Late-stage Tribulation Sovereign? Han Feng was barely at the peak of Foundation Establishment. Killing him was as easy as crushing an ant.
This was the third time Chu Feng had suppressed him. This time, he cut out his tongue and severed his arm. Chu Feng was eager to see what fortune Han Feng could possibly obtain next.
His fortune points had dropped from five million to 1.8 million. One more round, and by the fifth time, it would likely be his end.
By then, the harvest would truly begin.
...
Inside Emerald Jade Pavilion.
Chu Feng felt entirely at ease.
Having taken in Jialuo and created another Fortune Maiden, this time he had no intention of bringing her back to the Tai Xuan Dao Sect, but instead left her at Emerald Jade Pavilion.
The Pavilion itself was a gathering of elite women from all walks of life—a place for mutual support, discussion, and shared progress in cultivation.
Over time, it had become a circle of its own, with considerable influence. Most importantly, it was home to a vast number of beauties, attracting countless more to join. This made it all the more convenient for Chu Feng to seek out Fortune Maidens.
Han Feng’s system for wooing women seemed less restrictive than Chu Feng’s, not limited to Fortune Maidens. But in one respect, Han Feng’s system could not compare: the level of rewards.
By conquering Fortune Maidens and slaying Children of Destiny, Chu Feng’s rewards were far greater.
At present, he already possessed several immortal-level divine arts and treasures—the Heaven-Scorching Sword among them. He’d even obtained a three-thousand-year-old innate Ren Water Immortal Peach.
With beauties in his arms, life was blissful.
Half a month slipped by at Emerald Jade Pavilion, with ten beauties throwing themselves into his embrace.
Unfortunately, his earlier assumption had been wrong. Though he welcomed every beauty, none became Fortune Maidens; his fortune did increase, but only a little.
Clearly, to create a Fortune Maiden and increase his own fortune was no easy task. Many conditions had to be met.
Wild Children of Destiny were hard to find. Artificial ones were no easier to create.
It was a difficult endeavor.
...
Tai Xuan Dao Sect.
Upon returning to Lonely Mountain, Chu Feng was immediately dragged into a room by Chen Wanwan, who was determined to teach him a lesson. According to her, he had run off to Emerald Jade Pavilion to indulge in pleasure, clearly besotted by those vixens and neglecting to return home to women as beautiful as her and the others. She was intent on giving him a good scolding.
Her intentions were good, but reality proved harsh.
Chu Feng didn’t even need to employ any of his thirty-six sets of supreme skills; he easily subdued Chen Wanwan.
With a loud slap, Chu Feng struck her. Instead of subduing her, the crisp sound elicited a moan of pain from Chen Wanwan.
