Volume One, Chapter Seven: My Ex and Her Current Partner
A tall, slender figure slowly emerged from the car door.
“Jiang… Jiang Yu? You…?”
Seeing the man she had once looked down upon step out from a Lamborghini, Zhao Yiyi’s shock was beyond words.
Jiang Yu didn’t respond, only casting her a calm, indifferent glance.
Noticing Jiang Yu’s attitude toward her, Zhao Yiyi frowned. “I’m talking to you.”
Three years’ habit couldn’t be changed in an instant; the lofty tone she used when speaking to Jiang Yu was truly unbearable.
Jiang Yu’s expression remained impassive as he looked at the couple across from him.
Hmm, they seemed quite close.
“Baby, is this the poor guy you used to date? The one you planned to perform with at the graduation party?”
“My dear, I’ve cut all ties with him long ago, and you know—nothing ever happened between us. I withdrew from yesterday’s performance,” Zhao Yiyi replied, somewhat nervous.
“Don’t be so tense, baby. I know everything. Remember, I said I don’t care about your past,” Li Jiang smiled, then looked at Jiang Yu with contempt and a hint of jealousy.
To be honest, this man was so handsome that even other men felt envious.
“Hello, let me introduce myself. I’m the manager of the Human Resources Department at Star Entertainment. Have you ever considered becoming a trainee? If you pass the training period, with your looks, you’ll definitely shine in the entertainment industry. After all, men need ambition. With a career, you won’t have to worry about women.”
Though jealous, he wasn’t foolish. A man like Jiang Yu could make him money as a fresh face, and would be easier to deal with as well.
Jiang Yu shot him a cold look, saying nothing.
Yesterday, Wang Hong had already given Jiang Yu a rundown on Li Jiang—not exactly stupid, but neither outstanding nor particularly talented at work.
But one thing was clear: he was lecherous, always playing with gold-diggers and minor celebrities, and Zhao Yiyi was just another fling.
The wealthy heirs at the top of the pyramid were shrewd; how could they let someone with no background marry into their families?
“Jiang Yu, Li’s inviting you. What’s your attitude?”
At that moment, a fair, slender leg stepped out of the driver’s seat, followed by an extraordinarily beautiful woman who appeared before everyone.
After getting out, Su Muyu naturally walked to Jiang Yu’s side and linked her arm through his. “Yu, what’s happening? And who’s this lady?”
“Hmm, my ex-girlfriend.”
“She’s pretty,” Su Muyu’s gentle smile swept through the room like a spring breeze, touching everyone’s heart.
Her noble, elegant aura made Zhao Yiyi feel inferior in comparison, leaving her breathless.
She certainly knew this woman, but never in her wildest dreams had she imagined Su Muyu would stand beside Jiang Yu.
Zhao Yiyi struggled to accept it.
“Jiang Yu, why is Su Muyu with you? What’s your relationship?”
Jiang Yu glanced at Zhao Yiyi, his lips barely moving as he uttered a few words.
“None of your business.”
The moment those words left his mouth, not only Zhao Yiyi, but even the roommates were stunned.
Wow, he’s so bold now!
“As a man, insulting a woman like that isn't very gentlemanly,” Li Jiang’s expression changed slightly; he recognized the ethereal beauty before him, but dared not touch her, only making a mild remark.
“She asked for it. She isn’t mine.”
“Jiang Yu, is this really necessary?” Zhao Yiyi struggled to maintain her composure. “After all, we were classmates. We’re friends, aren’t we?”
“Fine, friends. Please stay away from me in the future, thank you.”
Polite, but not overly so.
Jiang Yu felt nothing for the woman before him now, and even if he did, he would never be so pathetic as to come and go at her whim—let alone greet her graciously after being dumped.
Zhao Yiyi’s face flushed and paled, then turned dark.
She truly hadn’t expected Jiang Yu to treat her like this, leaving no room at all.
The old Jiang Yu would never have spoken to her this way!
“Be a bit gentler to girls,” Su Muyu lightly patted Jiang Yu’s arm, casting him a reproachful look.
Jiang Yu nodded, his voice tender. “Alright, I won’t do it again.”
Su Muyu smiled contentedly, then turned to Zhao Yiyi. “Hello, I’m Su Muyu, Jiang Yu’s girlfriend.”
Jiang Yu was taken aback.
His roommates, on the other hand, were thrilled, exchanging glances.
“Damn, big news! The campus goddess just admitted she’s Yu’s girlfriend!”
“Awesome! Who cares about department beauties—they’re nothing next to the campus queen!”
Not to mention Li Jiang; Zhao Yiyi herself was completely bewildered.
She’d broken up with Jiang Yu just yesterday, even imagining him begging her to stay.
Yet, after only a day, he had a new girlfriend—one whose qualities far surpassed hers in every way.
Su Muyu didn’t stop there, stepping forward.
“Thank you for letting go of Jiang Yu, for returning him to me.”
“If you’re so outstanding, why choose a penniless student? Is it just because he’s handsome?” Zhao Yiyi asked, unwilling to accept it.
Su Muyu smiled. “I think he’s remarkable. Even on his own, he could become a top star in the entertainment world. I believe in him.”
“You won’t be disappointed,” Jiang Yu smiled, turning to his three roommates. “Let’s go—help me pack up upstairs!”
Without another word, he headed up the stairs.
Zhao Yiyi remained stunned for a long time, only moving at Li Jiang’s reminder, followed by Li Jiang himself.
“Yu, this is your old rental? It’s pretty cozy,” Su Muyu remarked.
“It’s not as comfortable as the dorm—takes half an hour to walk to the subway,” Jiang Yu replied.
Standing beside him, Su Muyu glanced at the photos on the table—pictures of Jiang Yu and Zhao Yiyi.
Jiang Yu picked them up one by one, tore them without a second thought, and tossed them into a garbage bag, ready to throw away.
Just then, Zhao Yiyi walked upstairs and witnessed the scene.
For some reason, her heart tightened. Those were their memories, and now Jiang Yu was simply destroying and discarding them.
Looking at Jiang Yu and Su Muyu chatting and laughing, it seemed as if they were the real owners of this room, while she was an outsider.
Suppressing her bitterness, Zhao Yiyi stepped forward and hurriedly began packing her belongings.
“Wait a moment,” Jiang Yu’s voice suddenly reached her ears. She looked up to find him standing before her, her gaze tinged with grievance, as if hoping for something.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Yu reached into her bag and took out her laptop and tablet. “These are mine.”
With that, he turned and continued packing his own things.
Wang Mingxu and the other two held back their laughter for a long time—Yu really was on fire today.
Looking at Zhao Yiyi, she stood awkwardly, uncertain whether to sit or stand.
“I’m done packing. Let’s go,” Jiang Yu said.
He didn’t have much—just some basic clothes and shoes, as most of his money had been spent on Zhao Yiyi, plus the laptop and tablet he just reclaimed.
With that, they prepared to leave the room.
Zhao Yiyi watched Jiang Yu’s figure, wanting to speak but hesitating.
Li Jiang stopped him. “I must remind you—Yiyi will soon appear on a variety show. Please don’t spread word about your past together.”
“Relax. My reputation matters. Please keep your woman from bothering me.”
Jiang Yu’s words infuriated Li Jiang; though he couldn’t afford to cross Su Muyu, what right did Jiang Yu have to speak to him like that?
Li Jiang sneered, walked up to Zhao Yiyi, and slapped her on her nylon-clad backside. “Aren’t you going to say goodbye to your ex?”
He looked at Jiang Yu as if showing off.
But Jiang Yu remained as indifferent as ever.
“No need. Don’t contact me again.”
