Chapter 19: Beware of the Jiang Family
“Master Lin, my servants have already prepared lunch. Please, you must stay and join us,” Jin Yue entered, speaking with the utmost respect.
“All right,” Lin Yuan nodded.
The team of more than a dozen doctors led by Yi Tianming looked embarrassed, found an excuse, gathered their things, and hurriedly left.
At the dining table, Jin Gao’s wife, Yi Huimin, barely ate a few bites before speaking in a sarcastic tone, “Father, there are so many clever scams out there these days. You really need to be careful not to get duped.”
Old Master Jin frowned and replied, “I may be old and muddle-headed, but I’m not so far gone that I’d fall for a scam.”
Jin Yue said, “What are you implying? Do you think Master Lin isn’t capable of curing Father, and that his improved condition is just some kind of act?”
Yi Huimin shot a cold glance at Lin Yuan, with a hint of a sneer. “With modern science, it’s not as if there aren’t drugs that can make someone seem alert for a short time.”
Jin Yue was annoyed. “What are you getting at, sister-in-law?”
“Nothing at all. Just a friendly reminder,” Yi Huimin replied, curling her lip and continuing to eat.
Old Master Jin rebuked them, “Enough! Both of you, keep quiet!”
“Master Lin, I’m sorry you had to witness this,” Old Jin forced a bitter smile.
“It’s all right. Let people say what they want. I don’t treat those who don’t believe. As long as you still trust me, I’ll treat you,” Lin Yuan said, not caring what others thought—after all, the money was already in his hands.
There was still another fifty million to come after the job was done.
Calculating it, it had been less than a week since he’d come down from the mountain, and he’d already earned over a hundred million.
Yi Huimin seethed inwardly, “Why won’t this old man just die already!”
“Lin Yuan, it’s all because of you! You stole my brother’s thunder and saved the old man’s life!”
“Just you wait!”
…
After leaving the Jin household, Ye Peilan caught up with him.
“Be careful. Yi Huimin isn’t someone to cross lightly. She’s from the Yi family, and the eldest son, Yi Chongwen, is extremely powerful and mysterious. Yi Tianming is his younger brother, and now that you’ve offended Yi Tianming, they’re bound to target you.”
Lin Yuan nodded, “Yes, I’ll be careful.”
“If anything happens, you can call me… well, never mind. Maybe I can’t help much. You’re too mysterious—even my teacher has to call you ‘Uncle Master.’”
“Then why don’t you?”
“You’re too young, I can’t bring myself to say it. But you could call me ‘sister.’ If I’m happy, who knows, I might agree to something for you,” Ye Peilan tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, smiling.
“Agree to what?” Lin Yuan was curious.
“Oh, things like having a meal together, going shopping, that sort of thing,” Ye Peilan hinted blatantly.
“That’s all?” Lin Yuan sounded disappointed.
“What more do you want?” Ye Peilan hadn’t expected him to be unmoved.
Most young men would be unable to resist such temptation—especially with a beautiful older woman like her. Even without any reward, they’d be eager to play the devoted puppy.
“Because I’ve seen a true queen,” Lin Yuan said, his gaze shifting to a sports car slowly approaching.
The Ferrari stopped. The door opened, and out stepped a striking beauty.
Her wine-red hair was softly curled and casually draped over her shoulders. She wore a white T-shirt and ultra-short denim shorts, revealing a pair of snow-white, slender legs. Her curves were perfect, her figure alluring.
“Little brother, we meet again,” Xiao Daier flashed a charming smile, walking toward Lin Yuan with sultry grace.
“Yes, what a coincidence,” Lin Yuan stared at her long, white legs, swallowing hard.
“It really is a coincidence. I heard there was a master here who cured Old Jin. Turns out it’s you, Peilan. I didn’t expect that,” Xiao Daier’s lively, enchanting eyes sparkled as she looked at her.
“You’re mistaken. It wasn’t me,” Ye Peilan refused to take the credit.
“Oh, then it must have been your teacher, Master Mo. But I just heard he’s already gone to Nanyang—what a pity,” Xiao Daier’s eyes dimmed.
“It wasn’t my teacher, either,” Ye Peilan said.
Xiao Daier immediately thought of Yi Tianming, the renowned physician.
“Then I know who it was.” She hadn’t expected it to be Yi Tianming—a man who had once pursued her.
With the answer in hand, she let it go and turned to Lin Yuan, smiling sweetly, “Little brother, have you thought it over? If you come to my side, you won’t regret it.”
Ye Peilan’s face darkened. “Really, Daier? You come here just to poach someone I’ve set my sights on!”
As expected, now that she knew Lin Yuan was the master, this seductress couldn’t hide her intentions.
“Too bad, Peilan. I saw him first. Besides, little brother hasn’t agreed to join you, has he?” Xiao Daier’s smile was enticing, dimples appearing in her cheeks.
Ye Peilan gritted her teeth as if making a difficult decision. “Lin Yuan, if you agree to join my Licorice Hall, I—I’ll go shopping, watch movies, and eat with you every week!”
“Uh, forget it. I’m used to living a lazy life.” Lin Yuan found the offer lacking and refused directly.
“Little brother, don’t you like pretty legs? I’ll let you play with mine every day, how about that?” Xiao Daier boldly extended her flawless, fair legs—skin smooth, shapely and long, legs that could only be described as perfect.
Lin Yuan swallowed again. Even without black stockings, bare legs seemed even more alluring.
Stockings were for covering flaws—flawless legs needed none.
Clearly, Xiao Daier possessed such flawless legs.
“Shameless! Have you no shame?” Ye Peilan cursed.
At last, she understood what Lin Yuan meant by a true queen.
“Forget it. I don’t like depending on others,” Lin Yuan still refused.
“All right, but if you ever change your mind, you can have Peilan call me. By the way, watch out for the Jiang family,” Xiao Daier gave a bewitching smile, turned, got in her car, and called as she drove off, “Bye-bye, little brother. Let’s sleep together sometime!”
The sports car roared away.
“I never imagined she’d be so brazen!” Ye Peilan finally understood—the rumors were true: the eldest Miss Xiao really was a demoness.
Now, she thought, “seductive fox” was more accurate.
Lin Yuan, on the other hand, found Xiao Daier’s personality rather charming.
“By the way, did you have anything to do with the Jiang family’s eldest son losing one of his ‘lychees’ recently?” Ye Peilan recalled Xiao Daier’s warning and immediately connected the dots.
“He brought it on himself,” Lin Yuan didn’t deny it.
“So it really was you! You didn’t hold back, did you? The Jiang family even called me to take a look. The lychee was completely pierced through—totally destroyed!” Ye Peilan gave him a strange look, recalling that the weapon had been a golden needle.
A genuine golden needle.
Normally, gold was soft, but the investigation found that the needle had pierced through the bottom of a helicopter and the seat, then struck Jiang Shang’s ‘lychee.’
“I originally meant to aim for his perineum and take his life, but missed. My skills aren’t quite there yet—if I could advance to the next level, I wouldn’t have missed,” Lin Yuan sighed. His strength had plateaued for some time now.
“Didn’t expect this from you, kid. You’re ruthless,” Ye Peilan joked. “Still, it’s probably for the best. Jiang Shang was no good. Now that he’s down to one, maybe he’ll behave better.”
“Is Jiang Shang really that bad?” Lin Yuan asked, thinking of Lin Shanshan, who’d been wronged by Jiang Shang, and feeling a surge of anger. Lin Shanshan was bright and beautiful—yet she’d been taken by him. What a shame.
Ye Peilan gritted her teeth. “He’s notorious for preying on pure, innocent girls. If they’re not pure, he’s not interested!”
She then eyed him suspiciously, “Why are you so concerned? And you crippled him—was it because someone you liked was hurt by him?”
Lin Yuan shook his head. “It’s nothing. I’ll be off now.”
