Chapter Twenty-Nine: Can You Use Your Brain for Once?

Jing Yi frowned at He Qi'an's words. "What for? Why do you need that surveillance footage? Did Lin Xiaoyan lose something?"

That morning, the only thing that had happened was a delivery rider accidentally bumping into Lin Xiaoyan. Now that He Qi'an was asking for the footage, could it be that Lin Xiaoyan wanted to cause trouble for that delivery man?

Jing Yi sneered inwardly. As expected, once a woman gained favor, she would become arrogant and entitled.

"I want to know who was in the elevator with Lin Xiaoyan at the time."

Hearing Jing Yi's admission, He Qi'an couldn't help but rub his temples as the sound of Jing Yi mocking Lin Xiaoyan filled his ears.

He Qi'an took a deep breath. "Are you at the office right now?"

Jing Yi raised an eyebrow. "Why? Coming here to stand up for your little girlfriend?"

He Qi'an closed his eyes and said coldly, "Stay at the office and wait for me. I'm coming to see you. Don't you dare leave!" With that, he hung up the phone.

Jing Yi stared at the disconnected call, amused to the point of anger.

He tossed his phone aside. Fine, he would wait!

That afternoon, while working, Lin Xiaoyan suddenly remembered something: she hadn't told He Qi'an that the police station dispatcher had thought she was mentally unstable!

She thought for a moment and sent a message to He Qi'an explaining the situation, hoping to avoid being treated like a lunatic the next time she called.

He Qi'an, who was about to leave the police station, saw the message from Lin Xiaoyan. His eyes flickered, and he turned around and headed straight for the communications room.

"Boss?" Li He and the others watched their boss turn around in confusion. Didn't he say there was a case? Why was he heading to the communications room?

He Qi'an walked into the communications room and scanned the area.

"Captain."

The people in the room greeted him as he entered.

He Qi'an looked toward the dispatcher's desk. "Who was answering the phones today?"

Li He and the others craned their necks to look inside.

Yi Bian's heart skipped a beat, and he hurriedly stood up. "Captain, it was me."

He Qi'an looked at Yi Bian and said coldly, "At noon today, a girl called twice, and you hung up on her?"

Yi Bian's heart sank, but he braced himself. "Yes, Captain. The person calling was saying nonsensical things, and I thought she was mentally unstable."

Outside the door, Li He heard Yi Bian's words and shook his head repeatedly. She wasn't unstable! She had special abilities!

He Qi'an looked coldly at Yi Bian. From the message Lin Xiaoyan had sent, he could imagine the girl's frustration, and he found it somewhat amusing.

"From now on, whoever receives a call from Lin Xiaoyan, report it to me directly. If I'm not here, notify the other officers to respond immediately!"

He Qi'an called the deputy captain, Ma Yi, and instructed him to have the entire team review Lin Xiaoyan's file, emphasizing that any call from her must be treated as an immediate emergency.

After receiving the order, Ma Yi printed out Lin Xiaoyan's file and had everyone in the squad read it.

When Yi Bian saw Lin Xiaoyan's profile and read about her special abilities, he was stunned.

He looked up at the deputy captain, opened his mouth, and asked uncertainly, "Captain, does she... really have special abilities? Is this for real?"

Ma Yi glared at him. "Look at the stamp on the top before you ask that question."

Yi Bian looked at the seal in the bottom right corner: "National Special Investigation Bureau"!

Yi Bian swallowed hard. "So... there really are superhumans in this world?!"

Ma Yi patted Yi Bian on the shoulder and looked at the rest of the team. "Keep this to yourselves, and don't tell anyone. We didn't make you sign a non-disclosure agreement this time."

"But that doesn't mean the state won't come to talk to you if you leak this information!" Ma Yi cast a warning glance at everyone.

Back at the Jing Rui company, as the workday was ending, Lin Xiaoyan was preparing to leave when she received He Qi'an's message asking her to wait for him.
