Volume One, Chapter 19: Deception!
Ye Yun popped a piece of sweet and sour pork rib into his mouth, then leisurely said, “Yes, it’s the Jade Pellet from Dragon and Tiger Mountain.”
“I didn’t expect Uncle to actually know something valuable,” Yang Huiru sneered, “Dragon and Tiger Mountain’s Jade Pellet? Who are you trying to fool?”
“That’s a priceless treasure. Even if you had the money, you couldn’t get one. It’s beyond your reach.”
At that moment, Susan suddenly cried out, “Ah!”
Everyone swiftly looked over to see that one of the two pills Yang Huiru had knocked to the ground was already swallowed by Susan’s little Teddy dog.
The small dog’s eyes gleamed brightly, as if it had just tasted a heavenly delicacy.
It lunged forward again, ready to swallow the other pill.
Su Wen shouted loudly and leapt out, snatching the remaining pill in his hand.
He tore open the oily paper wrapper in one swift motion.
Inside was a pure white pill, about the size of a thumb.
A rich and intoxicating aroma immediately blossomed, filling the air.
Susan beamed with delight. “It really seems to be the Jade Pellet from Dragon and Tiger Mountain.”
“That scent—I once smelled it at the Old Madam’s place,” Su Wen said, trembling with excitement as he cradled the pill in his hand.
“No mistake, absolutely no mistake!”
“This is the Jade Pellet from Dragon and Tiger Mountain. After taking it, one can nurture their health and enjoy longevity.”
“It has always been a coveted treasure for high officials and nobles, something they could admire but never obtain.”
“Two years ago, our Su family spent nearly two hundred million yuan and incurred a huge debt just to get one pill for the Old Madam.”
“But that pill, in both size and quality, is nowhere near the one Ye Yun has.”
Yang Huiru gasped sharply on the spot.
“Su Wen, are you serious? The security guard really gave you the Jade Pellet from Dragon and Tiger Mountain?”
Her eyes shone as she stared at the pill.
Su Wen, unable to part with it, laughed heartily, “It’s genuine, you can’t get any more real than this.”
“Aiya, little Ye, Uncle thanks you for your kindness,” he said warmly to Ye Yun.
Then, without ceremony, he pocketed the pill.
Yang Huiru screamed, “Su Wen, that pellet belongs to me! Your pill was eaten by the dog, so give me mine back!”
She was utterly domineering, reaching out to demand it from Su Wen.
Su Wen frowned, “Yang Huiru, have some shame. The kids are watching. Yours was the one eaten by the dog. This one’s mine.”
Yang Huiru was frantic, helpless and full of regret.
Turning to Ye Yun, she bitterly accused, “Since it’s such a precious treasure, damn it, why didn’t you say anything sooner?”
Ye Yun chuckled, “Auntie, you never asked me, so I wouldn’t just blurt it out.”
Yang Huiru looked at him with hatred.
She had figured it out by now—that cheap son-in-law of hers was doing this on purpose.
Susan and Fang Jiahao were both stunned.
They hadn’t expected Ye Yun to actually produce such a treasure.
Susan couldn’t help but ask, “Ye Yun, where did you get this Jade Pellet?”
Ye Yun thought for a moment, shook his head, and said, “It was just in the storage cabinet at home. There’s so much stuff there that I don’t even know who gave it.”
Susan was speechless.
Why did this guy always sound so offhand?
Fang Jiahao’s face darkened briefly.
“Uncle, Auntie, my family could get a Jade Pellet anytime if we wanted,” he said.
Yang Huiru quickly smiled, “Exactly, Master Fang’s family is big and prosperous, so that’s no problem.”
Fang Jiahao disdainfully glanced at Ye Yun and continued, “I came here not only to visit Shanshan but also with some good news to share with you both.”
Yang Huiru was delighted, “What good news? Come on, Master Fang, tell us! Oh, you really take care of our family.”
Fang Jiahao adjusted his expensive suit and smiled broadly.
“I recently started a real estate company and am currently raising funds.”
“The returns are quite substantial and only open to insiders.”
“Now, it’s up to you whether you want to make some ten or twenty million as retirement money.”
Yang Huiru’s eyes widened, “Easily making over ten million?”
“Master Fang, is there really such a good opportunity?”
Fang Jiahao’s smile grew more superior. “Auntie, I’m telling you this only because you’re family.”
“If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t have said a word.”
“Right now, my family, along with my classmates and friends, are all clamoring to invest.”
“But the slots are limited, so I refused many and thought I’d offer it to you first.”
Yang Huiru was overjoyed, “Master Fang, thank you for thinking of us.”
“There’s no need to say more. I have nearly five million yuan in private savings, and I’ll invest it all with you.”
“As long as by the maturity date you give me ten million back, how’s that?”
Fang Jiahao promised confidently, “Auntie, no problem at all.”
“Moreover, since you’re my future mother-in-law, I’ll give you twelve million then.”
Yang Huiru was ecstatic and told Su Wen, “Old Su, take the money you have in the group and invest with Master Fang too.”
“This is a guaranteed profit opportunity. Our family is going to get rich.”
Su Wen hesitated a little but finally smiled, “I don’t have much money myself.”
“Well, since Master Fang has insider slots, I’ll invest five million too.”
Susan frowned and asked, “Master Fang, does your new company really make that much money?”
Seeing the beauty’s surprise, Fang Jiahao could no longer hide his arrogance.
But before he could speak, Ye Yun smiled and said, “Of course it makes money. After all, talking nonsense and bragging isn’t illegal.”
“Master Fang can make up any numbers he wants, right?”
Susan immediately asked, “Ye Yun, what do you mean? Do you think he’s lying?”
Ye Yun snorted coldly, “It’s not just lying. It’s outright fraud.”
Yang Huiru shouted angrily, “Shut up! How dare you call someone a fraud?”
Ye Yun said calmly, “Because I just had dinner with Branch Manager Tian from Jiangnan Bank. I heard it straight from his mouth.”
“The Fang family’s so-called real estate company already owes the bank hundreds of millions.”
“Full of debts, yet they come here boasting about huge profits. If that’s not fraud, what is?”
Yang Huiru was left speechless and looked toward Fang Jiahao.
