Volume One, Chapter Seventeen: Doubt!

Wu Tianshun smiled and said, “Manager Tian, money means nothing to my friend here.”
“Since you’ve come, please have a seat and join me in a couple of toasts.”
Tian Hanmin dared not be negligent and promptly raised his glass. “I’m the manager of Jiangnan Bank. It’s an honor to meet you, sir.”
If someone like Wu Tianshun was a wealthy and prestigious figure, considered first-class in Jiangnan City,
then Tian Hanmin, holding an important position, would be second-tier.
Yet, seeing Wu Tianshun treat this young man with such care, even lowering himself somewhat,
Tian Hanmin immediately realized this person was no ordinary character and became exceptionally warm and eager.
Ye Yun had little interest in socializing.
After a few polite rounds, he fell silent.
During the interval, Tian Hanmin took a call, grumbling, “That eldest son of the Fang family really is a headache.”
“If it weren’t for his father, Fang Tianming’s connections, I wouldn’t bother with this prodigal son.”
Wu Tianshun chuckled, “Hanmin, what’s the trouble?”
Tian Hanmin sneered, “You wouldn’t understand, old man.”
“Fang Tianming’s son, Fang Jiahao, broke away from the Fang family to start a real estate company.”
“The kid is utterly incompetent and has already owed our bank nearly 300 million.”
“Now, not realizing his own ineptitude, he’s pestering me for more loans. I have no intention of entertaining him.”
Ye Yun’s curiosity was piqued. “Oh? Manager Tian, you mean this Fang young master is drowning in debt?”
Tian Hanmin cursed, “Exactly.”
“Fang Tianming is indeed a top figure in Jiangnan City.”
“But unfortunately, his son is a complete waste.”
“Heh, Young Master Ye, pardon my bluntness.”
Ye Yun gave a thumbs-up, “No, Manager Tian, I think you’re quite right.”
After another half hour, Ye Yun saw it was about time and stood to leave.
Wu Tianshun and Tian Hanmin hurried to escort him out.
At the restaurant entrance, Ye Yun got into Wu Tianshun’s chauffeured car and left.
Behind them, Xu Yuer and a group of friends were just leaving the restaurant as well.
Her beautiful eyes widened in shock. She turned to her friends, “Did you see that? Those two must be Jiangnan’s Manager Tian and Chairman Wu.”
Everyone nodded.
“Yes, those two big shots.”
“But judging by their demeanor, they were accompanying someone else. The real core figure was the handsome young man between them.”
“Exactly, I noticed that too. But who is that young man? He looks so young, yet those two heavyweights are at his beck and call.”
Xu Yuer’s expression grew complicated. “I know who he is.”

Her friends looked at her in surprise and urged her to speak quickly.
But Xu Yuer frowned deeply and, citing an urgent matter, hurried away.
Ye Yun—this guy—really seems to be extraordinary.
Back home, Xu Yuer quickly called her close friend Susan.
“Susan, I have something to tell you.”
On the other end, Susan replied, “Yuer, I have something I want to tell you too.”
Xu Yuer smiled, “You go first. I’m all ears.”
Susan hesitated before speaking, “Yuer, I’ve noticed there’s something off about Ye Yun.”
“Seems like he’s not just an ordinary security guard.”
Xu Yuer’s almond-shaped eyes widened. “Ah? So you’ve noticed too.”
“Susan, I was just about to tell you about that security guard.”
“I just came out of the Jiangnan Grand Hotel. Guess what?”
Susan asked curiously, “What happened?”
Xu Yuer recalled the scene, “I saw Ye Yun there.”
“Not only him, but also Old Master Wu and Manager Tian from Jiangnan Bank.”
“Those two big shots are no ordinary people.”
“But judging by their attitude, they treated Ye Yun with extraordinary warmth and attentiveness.”
“At the time, Manager Tian, usually so aloof, was practically running around opening car doors for Ye Yun.”
Susan, lying on her soft bed at home, dressed lightly and with her delicate feet curled up, was stunned by this.
“You’re saying even Manager Tian treated Ye Yun with such respect?”
Xu Yuer quickly replied, “Yes, incredibly warmly and attentively. I couldn’t be mistaken.”
“Susan, don’t you think this security guard might be hiding some serious skills?”
Susan was silent for a moment, then hesitated.
“I’m not sure, really.”
“But what’s certain is this guy has guts. And his skills—how to put it—are far beyond ordinary.”
“You’ve met my personal bodyguard, Master Cheng Lei from the Yidao Martial Arts School.”
Xu Yuer was puzzled, “What about him? Could this security guard be even stronger than Master Cheng Lei?”
Susan nodded, “You got it right. Even stronger.”
“Cheng Lei is a trained fighter, a true martial artist.”
“But today, he was easily beaten by Wang Bao from East City.”
“Yet Ye Yun knocked Wang Bao out with a single slap and effortlessly disabled over twenty fighters from East City.”
Xu Yuer’s rosy lips parted wide as she exclaimed, “Wow, wow...”

“Susan, do you think it’s possible this security guard is actually a hidden powerhouse?”
Susan thought for a moment and shook her head, “I don’t think so.”
“At most, he’s just skilled in hand-to-hand combat.”
“Otherwise, if he were truly a figure of great influence, why would he agree to come to the Su family as a live-in son-in-law?”
Xu Yuer sighed in disappointment, “Well, I was hoping he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, ready to surprise us.”
The next day.
Ye Yun received a call from Susan, saying her parents, Su Wen and his wife, invited him over for a meal to get to know him properly.
After their marriage registration, Susan’s parents had been very hostile towards him.
Ye Yun had grown tired of dealing with them, so they had tacitly agreed to keep their distance.
Now that they invited him over, Ye Yun couldn’t show up empty-handed, so he brought some gifts as a gesture.
Half an hour later, he arrived at the Su residence.
As soon as he entered, he saw several people already seated around the dining table.
Besides his beautiful wife, the graceful young CEO, there were Su Wen and his wife, Yang Huiru.
The last person was a man in a suit with gold-rimmed glasses and a beaming smile.
Fang Jiahao, the eldest son of the Fang family of Yulong Group.
“Sit down, let’s eat first.”
Seeing Ye Yun arrive, Su Wen gave a simple greeting.
Ye Yun walked over, about to sit beside Susan.
Yang Huiru ordered, “Don’t sit next to Susan. Sit beside her father.”
Ye Yun raised an eyebrow. “It’s okay, no one’s sitting here anyway.”
Yang Huiru snorted, “Who says no one’s sitting? The guest follows the host; I’m the hostess.”
“I’m arranging the seats now. Young Master Fang, you sit with Susan.”
Susan frowned, “Mom!”
Yang Huiru ignored her and smiled at Fang Jiahao, “Young Master Fang, please sit next to Susan.”
Fang Jiahao was polite, “Yes, Auntie, I’ll do as you say!”
Ye Yun plopped down firmly, showing no intention of yielding, “Only I can sit beside my wife.”
“Young Master Fang, please take another seat to accommodate us.”
Fang Jiahao’s face twitched.
This bastard—did he not hear the hostess’s instructions?
At the table, before the meal even began, tensions were already rising beneath the surface!
