Chapter 11: Assassination

The heads-down man and woman’s faces were nearly as red as apples. She glared viciously at him.
Then, a nearly transparent needle appeared in her hand.
Whoosh!
A needle shot out. The accompanying soldier yawned, rubbed his eyes, and became dazed.
“Which ward is Robin Rommel staying in?” the woman asked.
“I don’t know…”
The hypnotized soldier answered blankly, “Who is Robin Rommel?”
Woman: “…”
Damn it. What use were these soldiers?
“You hypnotized an idiot!” the woman snapped through clenched teeth.
“Ahem…” The heads-down man interrupted her. “I didn’t hypnotize him to find out where Robin is. I asked him about the patrol patterns and defensive arrangements.”
He was beginning to feel rather helpless about his girlfriend.
He was just an ordinary soldier. What could she expect him to know? It would be impressive if he knew where the washrooms on the first floor were!
For these soldiers, their mission was simply to patrol and watch for suspicious individuals.
“What’s wrong with asking a few extra questions?” The woman clearly had no intention of reasoning with him. “This Robin Rommel… no, Forrester Rommel—he deliberately concealed part of his identity. He must be exceptionally cunning. There’s no harm in asking a little more!”
“If your hypnosis hadn’t failed the first time and left his mind intact, would we really be in this much trouble?”
Just then, an ambulance pulled up outside the hospital.
Several male nurses carried a stretcher out of the vehicle. Accompanying them were two female nurses, a driver, and a doctor, and the whole group rushed into the hospital in a frenzy.
“Fine, fine, let’s hurry…” The heads-down man had no intention of arguing with his girlfriend.
Seeing that a new patient had arrived so late at night, he was overjoyed.
A new patient meant more people, more activity, and more chaos.
Soon, the heads-down man had learned the patrol patterns and quietly led the others into the hospital through the rear entrance.
When they reached the stairway on the first floor, the two security guards on duty glanced at them.
Seeing that their faces looked unfamiliar, one of the guards warily placed his hand on his holster and asked, “What are you here for?”
“Don’t misunderstand…” The heads-down man hurriedly raised his hands. “Our father is staying in a ward on the second floor. We registered earlier today. If you don’t believe us, you can check.”
Hearing this, the other guard immediately lowered his head and began checking the records.
Buzz!
The heads-down man’s eyes lit up, and the guard staring at him suddenly became dazed.
Whoosh!
A flying needle shot out, and the guard checking the records also went blank.
“Split up.”
The heads-down man made a slight beckoning gesture.

Before long, eight more people appeared. Some went straight into the washrooms, while others took up positions between the first and second floors. Their mission was to provide support; the assassination itself was the responsibility of the heads-down man and the woman.
For the assassination of an ordinary person, deploying two supernatural beings and eight team members could be called an elite, luxurious lineup.
Even so, neither the heads-down man nor the woman dared to be careless.
After all, this was Saint Peter Hospital. There was no telling how many important figures and bodyguards might be inside.
Therefore, the assassination had to be carried out covertly. They could not simply go on a killing spree.
The heads-down man hurried anxiously up to the second floor, while the woman covered her mouth and put on a sobbing expression, looking exactly like a patient’s family member.
Seeing them come up normally, the second-floor security guard still asked out of professional duty, “Which ward?”
“We…”
The heads-down man and the woman repeated their old trick, taking down the two guards once again.
After hypnotizing three people in succession, he began to feel a headache coming on. It was a sign that his mental strength and magical power were running low.
The two of them reached the nurses’ station, where two nurses on duty were dozing off.
One was sprawled across the desk, fast asleep. Another nurse, who had a rather fierce, beastlike appearance, sat in a chair with her head tipped backward, mouth hanging open as she emitted a steady snore.
The heads-down man had initially considered waking one of them, but when he saw the registration records lying conveniently on the desk, he decided not to bother and quickly began looking through them.
Fortunately, Robin was staying on the second floor…
To reach him, they would have to pass through the inpatient area guarded by two soldiers, and then get past the two guards stationed outside Robin’s room.
“Quick, get him stabilized first…”
An anxious voice came from farther down the second floor.
The two exchanged glances and quickly moved in that direction.
The heads-down man took out a small mirror and secretly checked the corridor from around the corner.
Two soldiers were standing guard outside a door, while several doctors and nurses had entered one of the wards…
Wait. Judging from the room number, why was it the room next to Robin’s?
This was troublesome…
But it was not a serious problem.
The two soldiers guarding Robin’s room had been drawn away. They could make use of that.
“Move!”
The heads-down man seized the opportunity and gave the order at once.
Whoosh, whoosh…
The woman suddenly emerged from around the corner, two transparent needles already flying from her hand.
The two soldiers tried to react, but their movements were too slow. Both were struck by the needles. Even though they were holding guns, they could no longer do anything.
Click.
At that exact moment, the door to the ward next to Robin’s closed. The two soldiers guarding Robin turned around.
The heads-down man and the woman walked toward the inpatient area like ordinary relatives visiting a patient.

After passing the two soldiers, the heads-down man and the woman also walked normally past the ward filled with people.
The two soldiers guarding Robin found it somewhat strange, but since the people ahead had not stopped them, they paid it no further attention.
Buzz!
The heads-down man simultaneously took control of both soldiers and felt as if his head were splitting apart.
Three people earlier, and now two more at once—he had already reached the limits of his ability!
Ignoring the two soldiers and the people in the neighboring ward, the pair shoved open the door to Robin’s room, preparing to complete the assassination.
But the moment they opened the door, they were stunned.
The wall behind Robin’s hospital bed had been cut away.
That section of wall had been moved without making a sound, as if Robin’s room and the neighboring ward had been joined together.
Two men were pulling Robin’s bed backward.
For a moment, the men dragging the bed and the heads-down man’s team came face-to-face. Both sides froze in confusion.
Whoosh!
One of the men dragging the bed immediately drew a gun.
Biu!
A distinctly silenced gunshot rang out, and a bullet shot forth in the space between breaths.
Smack!
The heads-down man failed to dodge in time and was shot in the shoulder.
Even with a bulletproof vest, the impact sent him staggering.
The shot directly disrupted his mental control!
Without a word, the woman threw a grenade through the opening.
The two soldiers guarding Robin’s door regained consciousness at once.
The staggering heads-down man, the woman who had just thrown the grenade…
“Enemy attack!”
One of the soldiers shouted.
They were about to make another move when two small knives suddenly appeared in the man’s hands.
Slash!
He cut both soldiers’ throats with a single stroke each.
Clutching their necks, the two soldiers collapsed helplessly.
Boom!
A tremendous explosion erupted from the room next to Robin’s. Thick smoke billowed out, and the windows shattered with a crash.
