The thought flashed through his mind, sending a shiver down his spine.

However, he immediately dismissed the possibility. If there really were a camera in the room, why hadn't Ruolan called him when Xiaoqing stayed the night? Given her personality, she would have been consumed by jealousy and immediately confronted him. Would she really have been able to keep her composure?

Just as he was pondering this, his phone chimed. It was a voice message from Ruolan.

"Hubby, how did you sleep last night? Is your headache gone?"

Jiang Yang’s lips curled into a natural smile; it felt good to know his wife cared about him so much. "I took the medicine and rested all night. It doesn't hurt anymore."

"Look at you. You always forget to take your medicine when I’m not around. You clearly brought it to work, yet you still forgot to take it. You deserve the pain."

"But you’re coming back tomorrow, aren't you? Will you feed it to me then?"

"You're not a child. Do you expect me to breastfeed you?"

"If you want to feed me, I wouldn't mind."

"Nasty! How dare you flirt with me in broad daylight?"

"I was clearly talking about medicine, you’re the one who brought up breastfeeding. You started it."

"Hmph, wait until I get back. I’ll show you."

"Heh, we'll see who shows who. I've been saving up plenty of 'stock' for a few days now."

"You have no sense of decency. Get back to work. I’m done talking to you."

Starting the morning with a bit of flirting with his wife put him in a good mood. He set the phone down and returned his gaze to the computer screen, ready to work, when he suddenly felt that something in their conversation was off.

He picked up the phone again, opened WeChat, and converted Ruolan's last message into text on the screen. His eyes lingered on that first sentence: "Look at you. You always forget to take your medicine when I’m not around. You clearly brought it to work, yet you still forgot to take it. You deserve the pain."

*"You clearly brought it to work..."*

Strange. How did she know he had brought his medicine to the office? Before this, he usually took the red pill as soon as he woke up because he found it troublesome to carry it to work. Of course, there were rare occasions when he hadn't taken it the night before and would bring one to the office just in case, but that wasn't the norm.

Yet, that morning, he had decided to bring the medicine on a whim. How could she have known so surely that he had it with him at the office? The way she said it was so casual, but that was exactly why it felt so suspicious—she seemed absolutely certain.

Jiang Yang’s eyes flicked back to the pinhole camera on his computer screen, and he fell into deep thought.

Could it be… was Chen Hao actually right? Could such a beautiful wife do something that only a perverted old man would do? Even when she wasn’t home, had she secretly installed a camera to monitor him?

In terms of timing, she had the opportunity. During the days she was back, she was alone in the house; no one knew what she had been up to. The sweetness he had felt moments ago was washed away as if by a bucket of cold water. If this were true, what exactly was she planning?

A sense of impending doom settled in Jiang Yang’s heart. Combining this with the matter of the medicine, he feared that what Ruolan was doing behind his back was far more complex than he had imagined.

Just then, a new email popped up on his screen—feedback from Manager Cai, a client, regarding revisions to a video. He didn't want to think about it; after all, even if there were a surveillance camera, it was, at most, an invasion of privacy—hardly a catastrophe.

Suppressing his racing thoughts, he forced himself to focus on work. Ironically, the client's materials were all about surveillance equipment, which made his skin crawl.

His phone remained silent all day. None of the women reached out to him; it felt like the calm before a storm. Jiang Yang processed the client’s feedback and adjusted the video. While sending the file, he intentionally called the client’s product manager. "Manager Cai, I was wondering, if there’s a hidden camera in a room, is there a way to find it?"

Thinking he was just being exceptionally professional and trying to understand the product to better produce the video, Manager Cai replied, "Hidden cameras usually leave a tiny, concealed aperture, sometimes as small as a millimeter or less in diameter. They are very well-hidden—often inside screws, power strips, or door gaps—so they aren't easy to spot. Some have infrared lights, so you might see a faint red glow in the dark; that’s one manual way to look for them."

"Additionally, for a pinhole camera to transmit in real-time, it needs a signal. You can use a dedicated signal detector. Our company has professional-grade ones that are much more sensitive than the toys you find online."

Jiang Yang coughed dryly. "The thing is, I’m planning a trip with my wife, and there have been a lot of reports about pinhole cameras in hotels lately, so I’m a bit worried. Would it be possible for you to… lend me a detector?"

Manager Cai laughed. "That’s a small request. No problem. I’m heading to your office later anyway, I’ll bring one for you."

"Really? Thank you so much."

After hanging up, Jiang Yang felt conflicted. He knew that if he found a camera, he would likely have a falling out with Ruolan, and he was genuinely terrified of losing her. But the movie Chen Hao had mentioned earlier terrified him even more—the thought that one day, on a whim, Ruolan might lock him away and slowly pick him apart.

That afternoon, Manager Cai came by and brought the signal detector. It was only the size of his palm; if it detected a signal, it would flash and emit a beeping sound. With this device, any camera in his home would have nowhere to hide.

Manager Cai added, "Be careful when you and your wife travel. Many hotels and guesthouses have surveillance now. You really need to be cautious."

Jiang Yang could only offer a silly smile and express his thanks. He was too embarrassed to admit that the device was intended to hunt for a camera he suspected his wife had installed in their own home.

Clutching the detector, he hesitated. Should he use it? He was afraid of what he might uncover. As he wavered, his phone rang. It was Xia Bingbing.

He answered, and her sweet voice came through, though it held a hint of grievance: "Senior, are you trying to avoid me again?"

Jiang Yang froze. "No? Why would I be avoiding you?"
