Pouting, she said, “You don’t even know how to comfort me… That day, you said you would come find me, but then you got into a car accident. By the way, why did you disappear for more than twenty days? Where did you go during that time?”
Jiang Yang thought, I was supposed to go find you? Could you be the person I was going to confess my feelings to?
He said, “I… I went abroad…”
Bingbing Xia looked at him warily. “By yourself?”
“No. I went with my wife.” Compared with Doctor Yang, Jiang Yang felt that his relationship with Xia Bingbing ought to be more intimate.
But precisely because he had such a favorable impression of her, he thought it best to make things clear. After all, he was already a married man.
“Your wife? You’re married? To whom?” Xia Bingbing’s pretty face instantly turned deathly pale.
“My wife is Ruolan Wang. Do you know her?” Besides clarifying that he was already married, Jiang Yang also wanted to learn about his wife’s identity from this junior fellow apprentice.
Xia Bingbing froze. “Who is Ruolan Wang?” Her expression changed from alarm to amusement. “I know! You’re teasing me again, aren’t you?”
“You don’t know her either?” This time, Jiang Yang was completely thrown into disarray. Another person who did not know Ruolan!
What the hell was going on?
It would have been understandable if his colleague Hao Chen did not know Ruolan. But Xiao Ran Yang, Muyun Su, and now even his junior fellow apprentice Bingbing Xia did not know her. And yet she had somehow become his wife. That was truly strange.
No—that was downright bizarre.
Xia Bingbing tugged lightly at his sleeve. “Senior, if you went out with another girl, you didn’t have to use something as outrageous as marriage as an excuse.
“Even if you went out with someone else, I wouldn’t mind. After all, as long as you aren’t married, I still have a chance, right?”
“No, junior. I really am married. Why don’t you believe me?” As Jiang Yang spoke, he realized that he felt somewhat guilty, as though claiming to be married were itself a lie.
Covering her mouth, Xia Bingbing giggled. “Senior, it’s not that I don’t believe you. If you said you had married that teacher, I might actually believe you.
“But where did this Ruolan Wang come from? I’ve never heard you mention her before. How do you expect me to believe you?”
Her words left Jiang Yang utterly silent. Teacher again? This was the second time someone had mentioned one.
Just as Jiang Yang was about to ask her what she meant, Xia Bingbing’s phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and frowned. “Hurry, hurry, hurry. All they know how to do is rush me.”
She answered the call and said directly, “Hello, I know. I’m on my way back.”

After hanging up, she said to Jiang Yang, “Senior, I’m sorry, but I have to hurry back to record a song. I can’t keep you company today. When I upload the video in a couple of days, remember to like and comment on it as you used to.”
Jiang Yang stared at her, a look of utter confusion on his face. “What video?”
“Oh, right, right! I forgot that you’ve lost your memory.” Xia Bingbing slapped her forehead, then held out her fair, jade-like hand toward him. “Give me your phone.”
Seeing her with her lips pursed in a pout, Jiang Yang really could not bear to refuse her. He unlocked his phone and placed it in her palm.
She opened Doudou Videos and searched for an account called “Bingbing in Midsummer.”
Jiang Yang leaned closer for a look. Good heavens—her account had two million followers and was clearly that of a major influencer. It was filled with all kinds of videos of her singing, yet he had not the slightest memory of any of them.
She pursed her lips. “Why aren’t you following me again?”
Jiang Yang frowned. Again? What was that supposed to mean? Had he deleted her before?
Xia Bingbing tapped the Follow button, added Jiang Yang to her fan group, and only then returned the phone to him. “You’re not allowed to delete me again.”
Jiang Yang took back his phone and was just about to ask her something else when his face suddenly grew hot. Xia Bingbing had already leaned over and planted a light kiss on his cheek.
The movement was as smooth and natural as the way he had once smacked her bottom.
“I’m leaving. See you later!” Xia Bingbing waved at him as she walked away, turning back three times with every step.
Watching her departing figure, Jiang Yang’s doubts about Ruolan’s identity rose once more.
Xiao Ran had been right. If Ruolan had never originally existed in his life, yet had suddenly become his wife after the accident, then the problem was enormous.
That afternoon at work, he deliberately stayed an extra hour and a half at the company, picking up the tasks he had previously abandoned. Perhaps keeping himself busy would temporarily stop him from thinking too much.
By the time he returned home, it was already nine in the evening. His phone rang—it was a video call from Ruolan.
He answered, and the moment he saw the image on the screen, his nose nearly began to bleed.
Ruolan was in an elegantly decorated room, seated gracefully before a dressing table. She wore a blue, translucent camisole nightdress.
Through the thin fabric, the contours beneath were clearly visible. Her alluring body, veiled by the gauze, appeared even more enticing.
Her long black hair fell casually over one shoulder, revealing her snow-white neck and smooth shoulders. Even through the screen, Jiang Yang could not help wanting to kiss her.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he swallowed involuntarily.

After several days of intimate nights together, his body had developed a conditioned response. Now that he could see her through the screen but could not touch her, a restless heat began to spread through him.
“Wife, you’re… truly beautiful.”
Resting her cheek in one hand, Ruolan took in the sight of Jiang Yang practically drooling, and an unusual sense of satisfaction welled up inside her.
The corners of her lips lifted slightly. Her jade-white fingers brushed lightly across her alluring red lips. “Look at you, practically drooling all over the place. That’s exactly why I’m letting you see but not touch.”
Jiang Yang sucked the saliva from the corner of his mouth. “Wife, will you wear that outfit for me again sometime?”
Ruolan turned her head away. “In your dreams. I’m not wearing this for you.”
“What? If it isn’t for me, are you going to have a video call with another man later?” Jiang Yang deliberately teased her.
“Hmph. That’s none of your business. You’ve only just gotten home?” Ruolan seemed quite pleased that he had returned on time.
“That’s right. I worked overtime at the company for two hours before coming back.”
“Come home earlier in the future. It wouldn’t be good if some woman tried to abduct you for your looks.”
Jiang Yang chuckled. “You’re worried someone might steal the goods, aren’t you?”
“What goods?” Ruolan asked, somewhat bewildered. But when she saw Jiang Yang looking toward her lower body, she immediately understood.
Her face flushed crimson as she scolded him coquettishly, “Shameless! How dare you make jokes like that? I was going to give you a little reward, but now you’re getting nothing. I’m turning off the phone and going to sleep.”
The moment he heard that she had a reward for him, Jiang Yang grew anxious. “Wait! Give me the reward before you go to sleep.”
Ruolan ignored his protests and reached out to turn off the screen. Yet her movements were strangely slow, as though she were waiting for something.
Jiang Yang hurriedly said, “Wait, I agree to do that.”
Ruolan’s hand paused. She narrowed her eyes, and a victorious smile spread across her face. “Really? You’re willing to do it? You’ll keep your word, won’t you?”
“Don’t worry. When have I ever gone back on my word?”
