Volume 1, Chapter 38: Humanoid Weapon
Just then, a crimson figure was seen hurtling through the sky. The scarlet robes snapping in the wind caught the eyes of many cultivators.
"What is that?!" someone shouted, and the rest of the cultivators looked up in unison. The sounds of clashing blades and magical attacks across the battlefield fell silent.
"Is that... a weapon of the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect?" a disciple of the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect murmured.
At that moment, the crimson figure spoke from the heavens: "All disciples of the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect, retreat! I am taking control of the battlefield from here on out."
The figure was none other than Lin Yang. Hearing this, the disciples of the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect immediately withdrew, pulling away from the fray. Sensing the immense pressure radiating from the red-robed man, the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect realized something was amiss. Their lead elder’s expression shifted, and he roared, "All disciples of the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect! Hear my command: retreat at once!"
But it was too late. Lin Yang spread his arms in mid-air, and balls of white fire plummeted like meteors. The disciples of the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect turned pale as the white fireballs blanketed the horizon, obscuring their vision. They desperately brought out their defensive artifacts, hoping to withstand the rapidly falling flames. Yet, against Lin Yang’s celestial fire, their defenses were as fragile as paper.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
As the fireballs crashed down, a raging white inferno ignited on the ground, consuming the disciples of the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect. Screams echoed incessantly. To the eyes of the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect’s disciples, countless enemies were being burned to white bone right before them. They could not help but gulp in terror.
After a long while, the Elder of the Talisman Peak, who led the group, finally regained his composure. He looked up at the red figure in the sky with lingering fear and whispered, "Who... who exactly is this person?"
In just a few minutes, over a thousand Bloodthirsty Demon Sect disciples had been wiped out by Lin Yang’s celestial fire. Satisfied, Lin Yang descended to the ground. When the disciples of the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect saw his face, their expressions were filled with shock.
"Is that... is that Peak Master Lin Yang?! How could it be him?!"
"Lin Yang!? Isn't he only at the third level of Qi Refining!? How could he possibly possess such terrifying strength!?"
"Shouldn't Peak Master Lin be at the sect right now? Is this really him?"
After eliminating the disciples, Lin Yang turned to look at the group with a smile. "Greetings, everyone."
Seeing that it really was Lin Yang, the crowd was left speechless. Ignoring their stunned expressions, Lin Yang walked up to the Peak Master of the Talisman Peak and asked, "Peak Master Chen, are there any other areas on the battlefield still engaged in combat?"
"Huh?" Peak Master Chen was stunned for a long moment before asking, "You want to go to another battlefield?"
Lin Yang nodded. "Since I’m already here, I might as well clear the entire battlefield. I’m here now; I shouldn't leave empty-handed."
...
In the following hours, Lin Yang moved across the battlefield like a human weapon, reaping the lives of the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect’s disciples. In just one day, he killed thousands, successfully crippling the sect.
Far away at the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect, Mo Tianxiong turned green with rage upon hearing the news. "Where in the world did this Lin Yang come from?!"
How could he not be furious? Those were ten thousand disciples—the very lifeblood of his sect. Watching the enraged Mo Tianxiong on his throne, an elder sighed helplessly. "Sect Master, let us concede. We simply cannot contend with this Lin Yang from the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect. We have already lost over ten thousand disciples, with only a little over ten thousand left. If we lose more, our sect will be completely finished. It is better to retreat, rebuild our strength, and plan for the future."
Mo Tianxiong’s face was grim as he weighed the pros and cons. Truth be told, had it not been for Lin Yang’s sudden appearance, they would have already won. But this peak-stage Feather Transformation realm cultivator had shattered all their plans. After a long silence, Mo Tianxiong sighed. "Very well. Order the retreat."
...
The next day, the Bloodthirsty Demon Sect announced their surrender and immediately withdrew their forces. The Great Wilderness Immortal Sect seized the opportunity to demand war reparations, bleeding the enemy dry once more. When news of the surrender arrived, thunderous cheers erupted from the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect’s camp. Lin Yang had become a legend; without him, it was uncertain whether the sect could have even survived, let alone emerged victorious.
Ten days later, a fleet of spirit ships returned to the Great Wilderness Immortal Sect. Citizens in the cities below cheered at the sight of the sect’s banner. It signified victory. While the war would not have harmed the common folk regardless of the outcome, being under the protection of the righteous path was always preferable to the demonic path.
On the deck of the lead ship, Lin Yang sat at the edge, watching the cheering crowds below. A strange feeling stirred within him. Zhang Xianfeng walked over and asked with a smile, "Looking at the cheering people below, how do you feel?"
Lin Yang contemplated the sensation for a moment and shook his head. "I can't put it into words, but it feels quite pleasant."
Zhang Xianfeng’s lips curled into a smile, and he said with satisfaction, "Protecting your sect’s disciples and the people in the cities—that is a sense of pride, a sense of accomplishment. Protecting those who need it with your own hands: that is the true meaning of our cultivation."
Lin Yang looked thoughtful, then shook his head, his expression calm. "Whatever. It wasn't for any grand reason. I simply did what I wanted to do."
"Indeed, you did it. Now, do you want to do even more?"
Faced with this question, Lin Yang looked back at him suspiciously. "Sect Master, what are you trying to say?"
Zhang Xianfeng chuckled and looked at Lin Yang with approval. "Lin Yang, would you like to be the Sect Master?"
Lin Yang was horrified and hurriedly refused. "No! I don't want to! Don't you dare!"
Seeing his strong resistance, Zhang Xianfeng clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Look at you! At least let me finish what I have to say."
