For the next two days, Lin Yang enjoyed a rare stretch of leisure, spending all his time tending his flower garden.
From time to time, he even cooked for himself. Though someone at his level no longer needed to rely on food to nourish and sustain his body, he was still more than happy to prepare meals for the simple pleasure of eating.
After watering the flowers, Lin Yang gazed at the setting sun and could not help shaking his head.
“I wonder how Hongye is doing.”

After a long journey of continuous sword flight, Lin Hongye finally arrived at the location marked for her mission.
“The Misty Forest…” she murmured as she studied the display on the scroll.
The Nascent Soul-stage great demon that had wounded countless cultivators was somewhere within. Without wasting any time, Lin Hongye entered the Misty Forest.
Mist coiled through the woods, severely obstructing her vision. She also had to guard against demonic beasts that might emerge without warning, so cultivators rarely chose to pass through this place.
Unfortunately, the Nascent Soul-stage beast had fled inside, leaving Lin Hongye no choice but to enter in pursuit.
Facing the surrounding mist, she felt somewhat uneasy. Her divine sense was only at the Golden Core stage and was nowhere near as powerful as it had been in her previous life.
If there were demonic beasts concealing their auras nearby, she would not be able to find them without searching carefully.
In the end, Lin Hongye gritted her teeth and drew the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword.
The moment the sword left its sheath, the power of karmic fire within it drove away all the mist. Lin Hongye’s vision finally cleared considerably.
“I didn’t make adequate preparations this time… Thankfully, I have the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword. Otherwise, this mission would probably have ended in failure.”
Lin Hongye secretly counted herself fortunate. If Lin Yang had not lent her the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword, she would have had no means of dealing with the mist.
“Roar!”
Just as Lin Hongye was congratulating herself, a tremendous roar rang out, resounding through the heavens. The pressure contained within it was so immense that every tree in the Misty Forest was blown askew.
Delight flashed across Lin Hongye’s face. This aura undoubtedly belonged to the Nascent Soul-stage demonic beast.
“I’ve found you!”
Without wasting another moment, she shot into the air and flew toward the source of the roar.
At the same time, in the heart of the Misty Forest, there was a massive crater.
Beside it stood a gigantic demonic beast that blotted out the sky and the sun. Merely looking at it was enough to make one shudder with fear.
Yet there was something unusual about it. The beast was clutching its head, from which blood flowed without end, as though it had suffered a devastating blow.

Lying in the crater was a young man. His face was as smooth and pale as white jade, and his features were exceptionally handsome, giving him the appearance of an elegant young noble.
The Nascent Soul-stage great demon stared at the unconscious youth lying at the center of the crater, its eyes filled with wariness.
It had been resting peacefully in the heart of the Misty Forest when the sky suddenly split open.
Countless rays of rosy light had descended. Thinking that some great opportunity had appeared, the Nascent Soul-stage beast had remained beneath the opening, unwilling to leave.
Who could have guessed that no opportunity would emerge? Instead, a white-robed sword immortal had fallen from the rift.
The sword immortal’s body seemed to weigh a thousand mountains. When it crashed onto the beast’s head, the top of its skull split open at once.
The sword immortal’s body then slammed heavily into the ground, creating a crater in the earth.
Strangest of all, the sword immortal’s body had slowly transformed into that of a child, while the immortal sword in his hand had turned to dust and scattered.
The great demon felt deeply wronged. It had merely wanted to see whether some opportunity lay within the rift, hoping that obtaining it might allow it to advance further.
Instead, not only had it gained nothing, but its head had also been smashed open.
Now it had no idea how many people it would have to eat before the wound on its skull healed.
And just as it was brooding over its misfortune, a blood-red figure suddenly charged toward it.
“Great demon! Let’s see where you can run!”
Lin Hongye swung her own sword with all her might. The great demon instinctively raised a hand to block, but the fierce sword aura immediately sliced open a wound across its palm.
It cried out in pain and hurriedly retreated several steps to avoid the attack’s edge.
When Lin Hongye saw that her strike had actually injured the Nascent Soul-stage great demon, delight spread across her face.
“I told them I could deal with a Nascent Soul-stage great demon, but that old man at the Mission Hall refused to believe me!” she muttered inwardly.
The moment the pain registered, the great demon was consumed by fury.
Today was truly the worst day of its life. First, a white-robed sword immortal had inexplicably fallen from the heavens and smashed its head until it bled. Now, a red-clad madwoman who had appeared from nowhere had slashed it with her sword.
Did these people truly think that a Nascent Soul-stage great demon was so easy to provoke?
“Roar!”
The great demon let out another enraged roar. The terrifying shock wave instantly sent Lin Hongye flying.
The beast then charged toward her. With every step it took, the entire Misty Forest trembled.
It swept one claw toward Lin Hongye. Seeing this, she immediately twisted aside and narrowly avoided the blow.

Even so, the turbulence produced by the claw tearing through the air still sent her flying.
The great demon roared furiously and raised one claw toward the sky. In an instant, countless golden bolts of heavenly lightning gathered in its palm.
The golden lightning rapidly condensed into a golden sphere of thunder, which the great demon hurled toward Lin Hongye.
Seeing this, Lin Hongye hurriedly raised the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword before her.
“Boom!”
The sphere of thunder collided with the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword. Wild lightning spread in every direction, while the karmic fire covering the sword’s surface continuously consumed the thunder’s power.
Although the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword could withstand the lightning, Lin Hongye herself could not. She gritted her teeth and held her ground, but in the end, the thunder still overturned her and sent her crashing to the earth.
“Boom!”
Lin Hongye fell heavily to the ground. The force of the lightning coursed through and around her body, leaving her numb from head to toe.
Just as she lay powerless, the Nascent Soul-stage great demon seized its opportunity and lunged toward her.
Seeing this, Lin Hongye could no longer afford to hold anything back. She released her immortal fire, and white flames immediately spread throughout the entire Misty Forest.
Immortal fire flowed across the blade of the Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword, making its might even greater than before.
Lin Hongye swung the sword with all her strength, sending out a sword aura interwoven with immortal fire and karmic fire. It swept across ten thousand miles, as though it intended to cleave the heavens and the earth apart.
“Boom!”
The two flames intertwined, causing the sword aura’s power to soar and become even more formidable.
The sword aura struck toward the Nascent Soul-stage great demon. Sensing the threat of death, the beast immediately raised its hand to block.
“Slash—”
With a crisp sound of tearing flesh, the great demon’s entire arm was severed.
Blood gushed onto the ground, gathering into a small scarlet stream. The Nascent Soul-stage great demon let out a wretched howl, its agonized cries echoing throughout the Misty Forest.
Seeing this, Lin Hongye hurriedly rose and charged at the great demon. The Scarlet Sun Immortal Sword in her hand was wrapped in red and white radiance, shining more brilliantly than ever.
She shot above the great demon’s head and raised the crimson immortal sword high.
“Die!”
