Chapter 43: The Eldest Miss of the Clement Family Can Be Killed, But Not Humiliated
Inside the tent at the Dire Wolf camp, Zohan had not been in a convenient position to observe closely. Now, approaching Talitha, he felt a genuine surge of admiration for her appearance, form, and subtle physical traits.
Especially her wolf-like muzzle, combined with those large, round eyes and exquisite face, evoked the exact feeling one gets when petting a cat—the irresistible urge to lean in and plant a couple of kisses.
Of course, Zohan had no intention of kissing Talitha; he was merely appreciating how the aesthetic and cuteness of her beastly traits struck a chord in the heart.
Her two-meter-and-thirty-centimeter frame slumped limply on the ground, still possessing a substantial presence. Her arms hung limply and naturally by her sides, and her legs leaned diagonally against the wall. Her waist appeared even slimmer due to the twist of her upper body, and two buttons had burst open at the collar of her tightly stretched uniform.
At a glance, she possessed an astonishing fullness comparable to Mrs. Althoff, yet combined with her height, it avoided any sense of pure, mature allure, achieving instead a harmoniously balanced proportionality.
The hem of her uniform parted, revealing legs of extreme length. Perhaps because a uniform tailored specifically for the Dire Wolf physique had not yet been designed with undergarments in mind, she had chosen a pair of form-fitting, highly elastic shorts.
It was just a pity the shorts were still a bit too small, biting into her flesh.
"If you have the guts, kill me—the Clement family will never let you go!" Talitha was genuinely panicked, her gaze locked fiercely onto the collar in Zohan's hand.
She attempted to summon the magic within her, but that sixth-tier spell with its bizarre incantation had not only rendered her body immobile, it seemed to have frozen her magical energy entirely, preventing her from even using her innate skills.
At this point, her only hope lay in Mahait and Bomarch leading the dire wolves to rapidly seize the manor.
Could they rescue her from the hands of a sixth-tier mage? Talitha felt deeply uncertain. After all, the young mage before her was not only powerful in magic, but crucially, extremely cunning.
Talitha admitted she had underestimated him and grown careless. Yet, it was even more likely the result of his intentional guidance; had he openly and straightforwardly displayed his ability as a sixth-tier mage, Talitha would have even suspended the family's plan to occupy Red Hazel Town!
Let alone venturing alone into this seemingly crude and rudimentary manor.
"The Clement family? Never heard of it." Zohan thought for a moment, then nodded earnestly, indicating that he genuinely had no recollection of them, rather than trying to insult her background and pedigree.
His teacher had not paid excessive attention to illustrious noble houses, though he had roughly recorded some of the oldest and most heroic prominent families on the Roland Continent, among which the Clement family was notably absent.
Having said that, without offering any further threats, Zohan directly fastened the collar around Talitha's neck.
Talitha bit down hard on her lips, her sharp canine teeth even piercing the flesh, and blood seeped from the gaps in her gums. Her eyes turned as crimson as Sessa's, fixing their gaze on Zohan with a hatred so deep it etched itself into her bones.
Zohan believed that if he were to release her right now, she wouldn't flee at all; she would simply charge forward to fight him to the death.
That was fine too; he didn't care—after all, when you are sufficiently weak, even your anger looks like coquettishness.
"I swear—"
"Swear your head off." Zohan struck Talitha's head without the slightest hesitation. "You sneaked into the manor, interrupted Nina and me in the middle of our intimacy, and even wanted my life. Now that I've simply captured you, you have such a big opinion about it?"
Talitha had not expected him to rap her on the head, treating her almost casually as if punishing a misbehaving child.
He completely disregarded her! Talitha felt dizzy with rage, yet she was forced to admit that she had already fallen into his hands. What qualifications did she have to demand respect from a sixth-tier mage?
Yet, with her proud and haughty disposition, she still could not accept this attitude; she would have preferred him to subject her to brutal and vicious torture!
"Exactly." Nina quickly chimed in to support Zohan, feeling a sudden surge of happiness. It turned out her earlier guidance had truly succeeded, making him eager to proceed with their magical experiments and research. "Even a bitch like you should know some reason."
Talitha's teeth itched with hatred. She, a proud young lady of the Clement family, was actually being insulted as a "bitch" by some country woman from Red Hazel Town!
In her eyes, Nina was the true bitch—just look at that flattering, tail-wagging demeanor of hers, her eyes practically dripping with desire as she gazed at the young mage.
"Here, take this." Zohan produced a whip. "You're in charge of guarding her."
"Me?" Nina had merely been riding Zohan's coattails earlier, which gave her the courage to look down on Talitha. Now that Zohan's intent seemed to be handing Talitha over to her for solitary custody, Nina was suddenly somewhat flustered.
"Don't worry. She is simultaneously controlled by my sixth-tier binding spell and the magic collar I made; she poses no threat whatsoever. You only need to crack the whip in the air, and it will summon a bolt of lightning to strike her."
Although Talitha was his preferred material for magical beast research, she was ultimately an enemy. He would not soften his heart; untamable creatures like this required thorough breaking.
Women understood women best, and women were also the most ruthless when dealing with other women. Therefore, handing the completely defenseless Talitha over to the seemingly harmless Nina for custody was the most appropriate choice.
"I'll definitely keep a good eye on her." Hearing Zohan say this, Nina was reassured. With a cheerful promise, she immediately cracked the whip in the air.
A twisting, jagged bolt of lightning flashed across the space and struck the collar around Talitha's neck directly. Instantly, Talitha convulsed violently.
Fortunately, she had anticipated it the moment Nina raised the whip and had bitten down hard on her teeth to keep from screaming out. Even so, the shock wracked her entire body with discomfort, leaving her limbs feeling numb and completely uncontrollable, nearly causing her to lose her composure entirely.
Zohan patted Nina's ample backside in praise, but instead of leaving the parlor, he simply seated himself nearby and closed his eyes to rest his mind.
From time to time, Nina's taunts directed at Talitha echoed in the room, accompanied by Talitha's retaliatory furious curses, the successive snapping sounds of lightning, and the subsequent thuds of Talitha's convulsing body slamming against the wall. Yet, Zohan's heart remained as still as stagnant water.
The other areas of the manor, however, presented a completely different scene.
Bomarch led six female dire wolves—Talitha was not among them; as the second-in-command, she naturally was not under Bomarch's direct authority.
Following Talitha's order for a special operation, Mahait had dispatched a detachment of dire wolves to blockade the other exits of the manor while he himself, with his face covered, led the main force of dire wolves to apply pressure at the main gates.
The lords who had originally gathered within the manor were already trembling with fear. They had never imagined that the numbers of the so-called Dire Wolf Wrath Tribe could be so vast.
Now, even more of them regretted crowding into the Althoff manor, wondering to themselves: had they known the dire wolves would gather to assault the estate, and had they simply hidden elsewhere in the town, perhaps they wouldn't have encountered the dire wolves at all?
It was too late for regrets now, though. Entering had been easy, but leaving was no longer an option!
Glancing at the estate guards who were similarly trembling atop the perimeter walls, the lords turned their heads in unison to look toward the parlor. At this point, their only hope rested upon that young mage!
