Sensing that they were about to be swarmed by this mob, Xu Wang hurriedly grabbed the nearby Hornet X-01 assault rifle and slammed the bolt forward with a sharp click to chamber a round!

He raised the muzzle and aimed it at everyone in the room.

The moment they saw the rifle in Xu Wang's hands, courage utterly drained from everyone inside.

They scrambled back just as fast as they had rushed forward.

A crowd of people huddled together in the corner of the room, shoving and pushing one another.

Each of them was terrified of being caught in the spray of Xu Wang's gunfire.

Before Xu Wang even fired a shot, gunfire had already begun to echo intermittently from elsewhere in the mansion.

The booming reports of gunshots reverberated constantly through the walls.

It didn't take a genius to figure out that Jason and Tiezhu had already found those people.

Come to think of it, it was quite amusing.

Taking a classic horror movie scenario and flipping the perspective—going from being hunted to becoming the "ghost" hunting others—completely stripped the atmosphere of any terror whatsoever.

Actually, Xu Wang was normally quite afraid of ghosts.

It was just that the ghosts in *A Chinese Ghost Story* weren't frightening, so he wasn't scared of them.

And beings like Jason, who took physical damage, felt more like mere monsters in Xu Wang's worldview, so he wasn't afraid of them either.

If it were Sadako or Kayako—creatures you could see but never touch—then Xu Wang would definitely be terrified.

Listening to the escalating sounds of combat and gunfire echoing through the villa, Xu Wang, stuck where he was, grew rather bored.

After a moment of silence, he suddenly spoke up, "Did any of you bring a deck of cards?"

Half an hour later, the door to the room was suddenly blown open with immense force!

The group inside, currently in the middle of a card game, jumped in fright!

They all instinctively turned their heads toward the doorway.

There stood Jason, covered in blood, holding a massive machete, alongside Johnny's corpse.

Tiezhu, right beside them, was trying desperately to squeeze his way inside. After struggling for a good while, all he managed to do was wedge his head past Jason's calf.

As soon as Tiezhu managed to poke his head in, he spotted Xu Wang, whose lower half was still wedged deep into the floorboards!

The Husky mistakenly thought that Xu Wang had literally been reduced to just his upper body and instantly burst into mournful, sorrowful howls.

He stood there, whimpering and sobbing uncontrollably!

Though Xu Wang was deeply touched by the gesture, he still would have preferred someone to actually lend a hand.

"Jason, come over here and pull me out."

Xu Wang called out.

Jason ignored him. Raising his blade, he fully intended to hack everyone in the room to pieces as well.

Realizing what was happening, Xu Wang quickly grabbed a wig from nearby and slapped it onto his head.

He called out to Jason once more, and Jason finally turned his head to look at him.

Xu Wang could clearly see the eyes behind Jason's mask widen in absolute shock.

Jason instinctively reached up to pat his own shoulder.

Only then did he realize that there was truly no one sitting on his shoulders anymore.

Clearly, he was completely unable to comprehend why the Xu Wang who had been riding on his shoulders was now standing right here.

Nevertheless, after hearing Xu Wang call out to him again, Jason hurried over, smashed the surrounding floorboards to pieces with a single punch, and hoisted Xu Wang out from the ground as if he were a mere chick!

"Hey, hey, hey! Don't just stand there staring! Whoever lost the card game has to pay up, no tabos allowed."

Having finally regained his freedom, the moment his feet touched the ground, Xu Wang immediately reached out to demand money from the people around him.

Faced with Xu Wang's insistent urging, everyone was too angry to speak, yet too cowed to resist.

Xu Wang cheated at cards outrageously.

It was clearly supposed to be Texas Hold'em, yet he kept arbitrarily mixing in the rules of entirely different card games.

Whether someone won or lost was entirely up to whatever he felt like saying.

Yet, with the current situation stacked against them, they had no other choice despite their intense frustration. They simply chalked it up to losing money to avert a disaster.

Extending his left hand, Xu Wang walked a full circle around the room.

Soon, his hands were piled high with a thick stack of cash.

Though the money was of no use to Xu Wang himself, he still beamed with joy.

This was the bridal fund he was setting aside for his foolish son, Jason.

Even though they hadn't known each other for long,

he had, after all, stepped into the role of Jason's mother, and Xu Wang felt he still needed to shoulder some responsibility.

He wanted to see if he could help Jason transition to a different way of life.

"Tiezhu, go find some rope. I'm going to tie all of these people up."

Hearing Xu Wang's command, the dog immediately sprang into action.

Meanwhile, the people in the room exchanged uneasy glances, a wave of restless agitation stirring among them as they considered resisting.

Yet, faced with Jason and the muzzles of Xu Wang's firearms, they ultimately made the rational choice to sit quietly back down and await their fate.

It didn't take long before Xu Wang had tied up everyone in the room with hemp rope.

Following that, he made a direct phone call to the police station.

While making the call, Xu Wang, accompanied by Jason, took the opportunity to take a tour of the villa.

He confirmed that the armed thugs had indeed all perished at Jason's hands.

A number of corpses also bore bloody injuries on their lower bodies, which were presumably the handiwork of Tiezhu's biting.

In the absence of military assaults and heavy firepower, ordinary people truly had no counter against Jason.

Xu Wang's existence served primarily as a control mechanism for Jason,

preventing him from going on an unrestricted, mindless killing spree.

Otherwise, this Jason would have simply followed the beaten path of every other Jason across the multiverse.

Resurrecting just to slaughter, getting killed, resurrecting once more, and slaughtering all over again.

Even though Jason grew stronger with every resurrection, that path was ultimately far too extreme...

The more he thought about it, the more silent Xu Wang became...

Suddenly, his eyes widened!

"Good grief, isn't this literally my exact current situation?! Is Jason actually my son after all?!"

Xu Wang looked at Jason with a gaze filled with a profound sense of mutual understanding.

Jason: "?"

He looked down at Xu Wang and tilted his head in mild confusion.

"Never mind."

Xu Wang shook his head.

Right at that moment, the shrill wail of a siren grew rapidly closer from afar.

Xu Wang walked over to the window and looked out to see a single police cruiser driving up.

It seemed that upon receiving the emergency call, the police hadn't taken Xu Wang's words seriously at all.

Despite an incident this severe, they had only dispatched a single patrol car.

There were a total of two police officers in the car.

Judging by how they immediately gripped their service pistols the moment they stepped out, Xu Wang guessed they must have spotted the corpses on the road and finally grown vigilant.

One of the officers was already calling for backup via his walkie-talkie.

Presumably, it wouldn't be long before further police reinforcements arrived.

"Let's go, Jason, it's time for us to leave too."

Xu Wang called out to Jason and whistled for Tiezhu. The two of them and the dog slipped out through the back door,

making every effort to avoid dealing with the police.

Just as Xu Wang and his companions slipped out the back exit of the villa,

the two police officers happened to enter through the front door.

Just as the officers were preparing to head upstairs, the sound of an engine starting up out on the street suddenly startled them both!

They hurriedly turned around and ran back.

However, by the time they reached the front courtyard gate, they could only watch as their patrol car was already being driven away by an unknown culprit.

"F***! F***!"

The two officers instinctively chased after the car for a couple of steps, but soon realizing they had no hope of catching it on foot, they frantically keyed their walkie-talkies to report the situation to the dispatch center.

Losing their police cruiser meant they were undoubtedly in for severe punishment once they returned.

Meanwhile, inside the stolen patrol car,

Xu Wang sat behind the steering wheel and sighed, "Folks, we just picked up a car—this vehicle simply insisted on following us."

"Woof!"

Tiezhu, sitting in the front passenger seat, expressed his hearty agreement, his tongue hanging out as he stuck his head out the window to enjoy the rushing cold wind.

Only poor Jason in the back seat was in a somewhat pitiful state.

Standing two meters tall, he had to squeeze himself into a cramped, huddled posture just to fit.

"Don't worry, let me look up our destination first."

Xu Wang switched on the vehicle's navigation system.

He typed in Eden Lake.

To his surprise, the Eden Lake of this world turned out to be located in the United States.

Then he searched for Crystal Lake.

That place name existed as well, and it wasn't all that far from their current location.

Driving there would take only about two or three hours.

Xu Wang planned to drop Jason off back home at Crystal Lake.

He would arrange a job for him there as a summer camp counselor—which could be considered Xu Wang's final act of maternal love.

Once that was done, hopefully Jason could lead a relatively normal life.

And after that, Xu Wang would be able to travel back.

He still wanted to check whether his corpse had been devoured by those wasteland scavengers.
