After spending a comfortable afternoon in the mansion on Long Island, Xu Wang took his freshly washed refuge uniform out of the dryer, whistling as he stepped outside. He planned to ride his motorcycle from Peter’s house and, while at it, return some borrowed money.

Meanwhile, Peter Parker had re-entered the Osborn Group for the second time.

He also finally encountered the person he had been longing to meet—his father’s former colleague, the biology professor named Curt Connors.

Peter had come specifically to ask Connors about his father.

Thus, when they met, Peter did not hold back. He openly revealed his identity as Richard Parker’s son.

Connors had seen Peter when he was a child but had not recognized him now that he had grown up so much. Only when Peter disclosed his identity did Connors notice the resemblance to his parents.

Learning that the visitor was the son of an old friend, Connors took Peter to his private laboratory, where they engaged in a deeper conversation.

From Connors, Peter learned the reasons behind the professor’s estrangement from his family over the years.

It turned out that back then, Connors and Richard had been researching the technology to transfer other creatures’ abilities into humans—a project that almost succeeded.

But Richard’s sudden death caused the experiment to stall.

To this day, Connors had only been refining the original research because he had yet to solve the decay rate algorithm, which prevented the experiment’s completion.

Connors’ avoidance of Peter was a form of psychological escape.

When Connors mentioned the decay rate algorithm, Peter immediately realized it was the same algorithm found among his father’s belongings he had discovered in the basement days ago.

He remembered clearly.

When he was very young, someone had secretly broken into their home and turned it upside down.

Afterward, his parents had acted as if facing a grave threat, quickly packing up and sending him to live with Uncle Ben.

Since then, they vanished, and not long after, news of their accidental deaths arrived.

Peter wanted to finish the experiment his father had left incomplete.

Moreover, Dr. Connors seemed like a decent man.

As an outstanding high school student, Peter looked forward to participating in such a significant scientific endeavor.

After a brief moment of thought, Peter wrote down the decay rate algorithm he had seen among his father’s relics on the spot.

Connors was stunned when he saw the algorithm and immediately decided to make Peter his assistant to work on the research together.

Peter was elated.

This opportunity not only benefited his studies and future but also made him feel closer to his parents—a psychological comfort.

Though Uncle Ben and Aunt May treated him well,

as someone who had lost his parents early, Peter could not deny the deep longing he felt.

Becoming the assistant to the renowned Dr. Connors filled young Peter with joy!

After obtaining Connors’ approval, Peter called Aunt May and Uncle Ben to share the good news.

When speaking to Uncle Ben, Peter mentioned that their research might last late into the night and hoped Uncle Ben could pick him up afterward.

Uncle Ben readily agreed.

At this moment, Uncle Ben had arrived at the United Technologies Bio Park.

After a night’s rest, the bio park appeared as disorganized as ever.

It remained messy everywhere, with animal droppings scattered across the ground.

Yet, United Technologies confidently kept the bio park open as usual.

Putting away his phone after the call with Peter, Uncle Ben surveyed the chaotic scene and muttered, “This is the worst zoo I’ve ever seen.”

His choice of words was deliberate.

To him, this so-called tech bio park was no different from a zoo—if anything, less professional.

Carefully avoiding the droppings, Uncle Ben spent some time locating the glass enclosure holding the mutated dragonflies.

Seeing the mutated dragonflies in person only confirmed his suspicion: the one that bit him came from here.

He courteously summoned a staff member and inquired about the mutated dragonflies.

From the staff, he gathered two crucial clues.

First, there were originally fifteen mutated dragonflies, but now one was missing—obviously the one from his home.

Second, the CEO of United Technologies was deeply involved in the research on these mutated dragonflies; Lou Landers knew more about it.

After some thought, Uncle Ben decided to speak with Landers first.

After all, what had happened to him was connected to United Technologies.

Though he seemed fine now, what if there were hidden side effects?

As the head of the Parker family, he needed to continue taking care of Peter and his wife.

He could not afford any negligence.

Peter had already lost his parents; Uncle Ben did not want him to suffer such loss again.

Since gaining superpowers, Uncle Ben’s mindset had matured beyond that of a typical young man.

This was the responsibility of a mature man.

However, he did not intend to reveal outright that he had gained powers from the bite.

He planned to pose as a reporter first, to test whether Landers’ research on the mutated dragonflies really involved mutagenic capabilities.

He wanted to know if it was just a coincidence.

The deep-seated American distrust of those in power was evident in every aspect.

Coincidentally, Landers was at the bio park that day, and without hesitation, the staff member pointed Uncle Ben in his direction.

After thanking him, Uncle Ben entered the work building at the back of the bio park.

Following the corridor, he soon found Landers’ office.

The door was open, so he walked right in.

But the moment he stepped inside, Uncle Ben’s eyes widened in shock!

An extremely embarrassing scene immediately assaulted his gaze!

In the office, Landers, dressed in a shirt and trousers, had both hands on the waist of a portly man wearing a white undershirt.

The two were intimately close, like lovers in the throes of passion!

This was a disaster!

Uncle Ben felt he had come at the worst possible moment and was clearly disturbing them.

Quickly raising one hand to shield his eyes, he shouted, “Sorry! I didn’t mean to interrupt—please continue!”

Saying so, Uncle Ben prepared to leave.

Landers, evidently startled by the sudden intrusion, immediately released his hold.

With a “thud,” the portly man collapsed weakly to the floor!

The noise was enormous.

Uncle Ben instinctively turned his head to look.

He witnessed the man’s body rapidly shriveling.

Within seconds, he turned into a dried corpse!

Landers, on the other hand, showed quite the opposite transformation.

The wrinkles on his face visibly smoothed out, and the muscles beneath his shirt bulged.

“What!”

Uncle Ben had not yet seen the news about the upper management of United Technologies turning into dried corpses.

But the situation before him was glaringly obvious.

Mr. Lou Landers was no ordinary man!

As fate would have it, he had just witnessed the scene of a crime!

Whether he liked it or not,

this was a grudge between them now.

Landers turned toward the doorway where Uncle Ben stood, his gaze icy cold.

A newly minted senior villain and a newly minted senior superhero—

at this moment, they faced off, locked in silent confrontation.
