Yanyan University.

The students from sophomore year onward had not yet returned to campus, but the freshmen had already begun their military training.

Chu Feng glanced at the students in their training uniforms on the athletic field, and a thousand emotions stirred within him.

It had been thirteen years since he had last seen this scene.

Yet now, instead of feeling the slightest annoyance, he found himself deeply envious of these freshmen.

“Chu Feng!”

Zhang Yanran hurried over to him. “Your milk tea.”

Zhang Yanran had changed her look today.

She wore light, natural makeup, but her lipstick was a particularly seductive shade.

Her playful oval face and delicate features drew the attention of everyone passing by.

She wore a short-sleeved top and a short skirt, while her hair was tied into a neat ponytail.

A scene suddenly appeared in Chu Feng’s mind. If one day Zhang Yanran truly became his woman, then she and Li Xueli together...

Chu Feng shuddered and quickly stopped himself from imagining further. The scene was simply too stimulating. He was afraid that he might lose control in the crowded street and humiliate himself beyond redemption.

“Why did you ask me to come here?” Chu Feng asked, puzzled.

Zhang Yanran bit her lip. “The school is open now. There aren’t any of my father’s informants inside... Come with me.”

She took Chu Feng by the hand and led him onto campus.

With so many freshmen arriving these days, and upperclassmen from the student union coming in to help them register, Chu Feng and Zhang Yanran slipped inside with ease.

At the school’s practice-room building, Zhang Yanran cautiously glanced around before taking out a key.

Chu Feng knew that key.

The school’s music rooms could be rented, and since Zhang Yanran came from a wealthy family, she had rented the finest one on campus.

The other practice rooms were cramped as toilets, but Zhang Yanran’s was on the top floor and covered nearly forty square meters.

Besides a piano, it contained a drum kit, speakers, guitars, and various other instruments.

Zhang Yanran loved music.

Chu Feng sat down on the sofa and idly picked up a guitar. He did not know how to play, however, and the acoustic guitar produced a dreadful racket in his hands.

“I found the message my mother left for me!”

Zhang Yanran took a photograph from her bag.

Chu Feng’s eyes widened, and the guitar nearly slipped from his hands.

“What message?” he asked hurriedly.

“It was a telephone number, but the problem is... the number was disconnected long ago!” Zhang Yanran’s eyes reddened as she bit her lip. “The clue I worked so hard to find has gone cold again.”

She covered her face, looking utterly despairing.

She had finally found hope, only to have it shattered in an instant.

Chu Feng narrowed his eyes. For Zhang Yanran, this might have been bad news.

But for him, it was undoubtedly good news.

The person had changed their telephone number, which clearly meant they were protecting themselves.

And what motive could they have for doing that?

They must have been under threat, and they undoubtedly possessed some important secret.

“At least this proves that the doctor is still alive,” Chu Feng said.

“I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do now!” Zhang Yanran sobbed.

The next moment, she threw herself into Chu Feng’s arms.

Feeling the warmth of her body against him, Chu Feng of his former life would never have dared imagine such a thing.

Zhang Yanran, the goddess he had once worshiped, had always seemed so far beyond his reach. He had pursued her for years, yet had never won her affection.

And now she had willingly fallen into his arms?

Chu Feng gently stroked her back. “Everything will be fine. It will all work out.”

“Do you have a way to help?” Zhang Yanran looked at him with mournful, beautiful eyes.

The thorny defenses she had once worn like a rose were nowhere to be seen. She simply gazed at Chu Feng.

Bang!

Just as Zhang Yanran leaned against Chu Feng, the door was suddenly flung open.

Several young men filed in and stood in the doorway.

When the man at the front saw the scene before him, he froze.

He held a bouquet of flowers. He was handsome, tall, and had a strong, masculine presence. He appeared to be about six feet tall.

He pointed at Chu Feng. “Chu Feng, what are you doing?”

Chu Feng looked at him, placed a hand around Zhang Yanran’s waist, and pulled her closer. Then, as if making a declaration, he raised his chin.

“Who are you? Don’t you know you’re supposed to knock before coming in?”

“You don’t know who I am, you bastard? Are you tired of living? How dare you touch Zhang Yanran!” the young man snarled.

Chu Feng searched his memories. Before long, he recalled the man’s name.

Shi Fei.

He seemed to be a wealthy heir in his third year, with considerable family assets. He was also something of a prominent figure on campus.

Because Chu Feng and Zhang Yanran had been close, Shi Fei had made life difficult for him more than once.

But back then, Chu Feng had been weak and timid, and he had not yet been reborn. He could neither fight nor defeat Shi Fei, so all he could do was suffer in silence.

Recalling the humiliations of the past, veins bulged on Chu Feng’s forehead.

“Shi Fei, I advise you to disappear from in front of me immediately. Otherwise... you’ll bear the consequences.”

“Hahaha! You?” Shi Fei sneered. Seeing Chu Feng holding Zhang Yanran, he was consumed by both anger and jealousy. “Take your filthy hands off her!”

Shi Fei’s two lackeys stepped forward as well, blocking the only exit from the practice room.

“Chu Feng! For the sake of your being Goddess Yanran’s high-school classmate, let go at once! We won’t do anything to you!”

“That’s right! What makes you think someone like you is worthy of touching Goddess Yanran?”

The two lackeys glared viciously at Chu Feng.

A scene suddenly resurfaced in Chu Feng’s mind.

During his freshman year, Zhang Yanran had once sprained her ankle during physical education class.

Chu Feng had borrowed a bicycle and taken her to the infirmary.

Simply because Zhang Yanran had held his waist while sitting on the back of the bicycle, Shi Fei had gone to Chu Feng’s dormitory that very evening.

The laughter, taunts, and jeers of the past still rang in his ears, pounding against his eardrums like the beat of a drum.

Now, history was repeating itself. Whether it was Shi Fei or his two lackeys, their arrogant, overbearing attitudes made Chu Feng’s scalp prickle.

It was as though a raging fire were about to explode within his chest, and no matter how hard he tried, he could not suppress it.

Just because his family was poor, did that mean he deserved to be bullied?

Just because he wore cheap clothes from street stalls, did that mean he deserved their contempt—and to have people spit at him?

Among all the bullies, Shi Fei was undoubtedly one of the most arrogant.

“Oh, I almost forgot...” Chu Feng grinned. “You used to pursue Zhang Yanran, didn’t you?”

“What are you planning to do?” Shi Fei suddenly sensed that something was wrong.

Chu Feng abruptly grasped Zhang Yanran’s delicate, pointed chin.

“Hm?” The tears in Zhang Yanran’s eyes had not yet dried.

Right in front of Shi Fei and the others, Chu Feng leaned in and kissed her, savoring lips as sweet and soft as cotton candy.

Shi Fei’s eyes widened. His face twisted with rage.

“You bastard! You’re asking to die!”

As he spoke, he snatched up an electric guitar from beside him and swung it at Chu Feng.
