Chapter 12: Shi Wenjing's Reward

Well, that was straightforward. Chu Feng chuckled silently; indeed, this was typical Qian Kai. But this approach suited Chu Feng perfectly.
“Didn’t Wen Jing already talk to you? Why… do you feel it’s not suitable?” Chu Feng tapped off his cigarette ash.
Qian Kai laughed heartily and immediately stood up to pour Chu Feng a drink. “Brother, you’re joking, right? My location is so prime, 200,000 is way too low.”
“Yeah, the location is great! Everyone from the nearby colleges used to come to your hotel, but after that incident, your street’s turned into a ghost town, hasn’t it?” Chu Feng shifted into a more comfortable posture.
Qian Kai’s mouth twitched. “That’s all because of that damn Yang Laoliu! If he hadn’t been greedy, letting a medical student who only studied for a week perform surgery, no one would have died!”
He confessed willingly, then distanced himself indirectly. Qian Kai was indeed a crafty one.
But Chu Feng had investigated and found out that the hotel street was a sizable interest group, with Qian Kai being one of the beneficiaries. It was only when the incident with the woman became too big to hide that he admitted guilt.
“Though I have money, I still have to heed my boss’s orders,” Chu Feng said, picking up a plate of cold shredded eel and chewing thoughtfully. “You get what I mean, right?”
Qian Kai thought, so that’s it. He had always wondered how a young man of about twenty could have so much money. Now he knew there was a powerful backer.
This made Qian Kai somewhat hesitant. After all, he had no idea who Chu Feng’s backer really was.
When Chu Feng parked his car, Qian Kai had secretly gone to take a look. Seeing it was a Rolls-Royce Ghost, his wariness deepened.
At the door, holding a drink, Ji Wenjing’s heart fluttered. Biting her crimson lips, she thought, “I knew it… he couldn’t have that much money out of nowhere. Could the person behind him be his father?”
Her beautiful eyes sparkled with growing delight as she walked inside. “What are you guys talking about? Looks interesting!”
Chu Feng smiled. “The beauty has arrived. How about some hot dishes?”
“They’re coming right up. I even ordered you a plate of big kidneys today!” Ji Wenjing sat next to Chu Feng and affectionately offered him some cold beef.
Qian Kai shot a sharp glance at her ample chest, his mouth suddenly dry.
It was all too obvious.
A plate of big kidneys?

This guest was bound to bring on a fierce battle!
Is this the life of a wealthy second generation?
Bah! Such extravagance!
“So, what does brother plan to do with that piece of land?” Qian Kai asked with a smile.
The hot dishes arrived, and Qian Kai hurried to serve them.
Chu Feng thought for a moment. “Probably a library or something like that. There are several universities nearby. Running a hotel there would be bad for business and a fire hazard, but if we open places suitable for students to study, I think it could be promoted all over campus.”
“A library sounds good,” Qian Kai nodded, thinking a library was a safe investment. It wouldn’t bring big profits, but books don’t spoil easily and it’s a long-term business.
“Or, brother, why not add a bit more? I’m here representing the hotel street owners to negotiate with you. You can’t make me get nothing out of this deal, right? Come, a toast!” Qian Kai stood and raised his glass to Chu Feng.
His glass rim was two inches lower than Chu Feng’s.
Obviously, he wanted to offload the properties.
After all, a place where someone died was considered unlucky for business.
“180,000,” Chu Feng put down his chopsticks.
Qian Kai’s eyes widened. “That… that’s too low!”
Ji Wenjing smiled and swiftly backed Chu Feng up. “My friend says 200,000 is really low, but recently we found a plot in an old district nearby. Though the houses there go for 280,000, there’s talk of a railway being built nearby, so there’s hope of relocation compensation…”
“Well…”
“The longer you delay here, the lower the price gets, and fewer people will buy. Meanwhile, houses in the old district can still appreciate. Even a fool would know which to choose.” Ji Wenjing refilled the wine for both men.
Qian Kai felt uneasy.
Because Ji Wenjing was telling the truth.
And Qian Kai was short on cash lately.
The longer he dragged this out, the worse it’d be for him.
Chu Feng quietly said, “My big boss just found out about the death case. He might change his mind at any time. Then we’d have to buy some other property.”
“Wait!” Qian Kai gritted his teeth. He knew if he missed this chance, these houses might rot in his hands forever.
At 180,000, with eleven houses left, he could still get two million.
What couldn’t two million do?
He understood the principle of money making money.
“Alright! Let’s sign the contract!” Qian Kai slapped his thigh.
Chu Feng laughed. “First, let’s eat! I heard the seafood porridge here uses only air-shipped ingredients!”

They had a simple meal; the leftovers Chu Feng had packed up.
Though he was rich now, he never forgot the virtue of thrift!
The group went to the property registration center to transfer ownership, dealing with piles of documents and numerous certificates, finally completing everything.
It took a whole day.
Qian Kai, holding the money, checked his bank balance while still thanking Chu Feng.
Chu Feng found it amusing.
“He got scammed by me and is still thanking me?”
If Qian Kai knew that three months later, the Wanda Plaza construction would be confirmed, what would they think?
But it was unlikely they could find Chu Feng anyway.
He had hidden his identity and never told anyone he was just a college student.
“How did I do this time?” Shi Wenjing sought praise, winking at Chu Feng.
Chu Feng patted her shapely rear. “You’re a promising student! How do you want me to reward you?”
“No, wasn’t it already agreed?” Shi Wenjing looked nervous, worried Chu Feng would renege after the deal.
Chu Feng laughed heartily and pulled out a bank card. “There’s 250,000 in here!”
Shi Wenjing cherished it like a treasure, clutching the card to her chest. She hugged Chu Feng and planted a kiss on his cheek.
“Come, I’ll cook for you myself!” Shi Wenjing linked arms with Chu Feng.
He allowed her to hold him: “You mentioning it makes me hungry!”
Chu Feng had eaten at ten o’clock, and now it was five in the afternoon—seven hours with only water in between.
They went to the supermarket, Chu Feng pushing the cart.
Shi Wenjing seemed to notice something and quickly went over.
Chu Feng was curious as she picked up a small item about the size of a cigarette pack, blue packaging with a pink heart in the center.
Noticing Chu Feng looking, she smiled playfully and tossed the item into the shopping basket.
“Use it up tonight!”
