Chapter 13: Throwing Money to Make You Leave Is Not Worth It
I was momentarily stunned, countless thoughts flashing through my mind before I quickly came to my senses. It was nothing more than another warning to stay away from Qi Yuzhou.
I cast a faint glance at Jin Shixun without saying a word.
“What do you think about Jin Siqi’s marriage?” Jin Shixun suddenly asked me.
At his words, a slight smirk tugged at my lips, tinged with indifference. “It’s just about marrying someone. What else is there to think about?”
Jin Shixun was initially taken aback by my response, then threw his head back and laughed heartily. His laughter was bold and unrestrained, as if he had just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.
After a long while, he gradually quieted down, his gaze locking onto me. “Jin Xin, you’re thinking too simply. But what I want goes far beyond that.”
I was mildly startled, a flicker of surprise crossing my face. “What do you mean by that?”
Jin Shixun hesitated briefly, a complex emotion flashing through his eyes as he spoke slowly, “I can’t let her suffer even a bit of injustice.”
His voice deepened unconsciously, heavy with long-suppressed feelings, like a dormant volcano finally finding its vent, releasing all the emotions buried deep within.
His attitude plunged me into deep contemplation.
I pressed my lips tightly, remaining silent, patiently waiting for him to continue.
Jin Shixun reached out, gently lifted the teacup before him, brought it to his lips, and took a delicate sip with elegant composure.
“I know about you and Qi Yuzhou. I hope you won’t cross the line,” he said, setting down the cup and fixing his gaze on me with an undeniable authority.
A surge of nameless anger flared inside me. I widened my eyes in disbelief, taken aback by his domineering tone.
I took a deep breath, striving to calm the turmoil within. Regaining my composure, I looked at Jin Shixun coolly and said, “Mr. Jin, I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“You should know my temper.”
Jin Shixun stood slowly and approached me, his eyes locking onto me like a sharp sword, scrutinizing me thoroughly as if trying to see through me.
I felt uneasy under his gaze; my eyes gradually grew colder, like shards of ice in a frozen pond, piercingly chill.
He clenched his teeth, speaking coldly, “You’d better behave.”
I struggled to suppress my fury, my hands unconsciously balling into fists. I hated being stared at so brazenly.
But Jin Shixun seemed utterly indifferent to my reaction, a smug smile curling on his lips, tinged with mockery as he said slowly, “If you behave, I might fulfill all your demands, even give you a lot of money. But the premise is, you have to listen to me.”
Hearing this, my anger blazed like a raging fire. Taking a deep breath, I fought to quell my fury, lifting my head with a stubborn yet helpless look in my eyes as I faced him.
My expression shifted like a volatile sky, uncertain and restless, silently cursing Jin Shixun’s arrogance, likening him to a ruthless bandit.
Yet, I knew all too well that Jin Shixun wielded immense power, and I was no match for him.
After a moment’s thought, I slowly said, “I agree to your terms, but I have one request.”
“Oh? What request?” Jin Shixun’s eyes gleamed with curiosity, watching me with interest.
I straightened my back, fixing him with a resolute gaze as I spoke slowly, “As long as you agree to this, I promise never to interfere in Jin Siqi’s affairs again, and I will keep my distance from Qi Yuzhou. From now on, we each go our separate ways.”
Jin Shixun narrowed his eyes slightly, like a cunning fox, studying me for a full five seconds before his smile returned. “Speak. I’m listening.”
I took a deep breath, mustering courage. “Release Sasha’s younger brother and give me ten million yuan. I will leave here forever.”
I stared intently at Jin Shixun, my eyes resolute.
“Ten million?” Jin Shixun raised an eyebrow and glanced at me. “You certainly have a big appetite.”
From his look, I could tell he didn’t intend to agree.
After all, holding Sasha’s brother in his grasp was like holding my lifeline. He knew I couldn’t just walk away.
I watched Jin Shixun, somewhat uneasy but feigning calm. “If you refuse, then there’s nothing I can do.”
With that, I stood up and turned to leave.
Seeing me move, Jin Shixun quickly stepped forward, grabbing my arm tightly, his eyes showing a hint of panic. “Wait.”
I turned back to face him, expressionless. “What is it? Have you changed your mind?”
Jin Shixun loosened his grip and adjusted his clothing leisurely, looking at me intently. “You’re worth ten million, but I don’t think this deal is profitable.”
There was a calculating gleam in his eyes. “You think you can just slip away? Do you think I’ll agree? Do whatever you want, but you belong to me now. If you don’t behave, Sasha’s brother is as good as done for. And don’t expect to see a single cent of your salary.”
With that, Jin Shixun turned and left the table, his figure resolute.
His words stunned me utterly.
My mind went blank—I never expected him to say such things.
I glared at his retreating back, my teeth clenched in rage, wishing I could tear him apart.
But for now, all I had was anger; I was powerless.
Jin Shixun’s threat was clear: he was using Sasha’s younger brother to coerce me into obedience.
I let out a bitter, helpless laugh, filled with despair and resignation. Sitting back down, my mind was haunted by thoughts of Sasha’s brother, consumed by concern for his safety.
...
The phone suddenly rang just as I was lost in worry, pondering my next move.
I looked at the screen, which displayed Qi Yuzhou’s name.
Hesitating for a moment, my finger hovered over the screen before I slowly answered, placing the phone to my ear and whispering, “Hello?”
“Come to my villa,” came Qi Yuzhou’s concise, commanding voice. Before I could respond, he hung up.
Staring at the dark screen, I sighed in helpless frustration, tossing the phone aside. Standing up, I straightened my clothes and prepared to leave.
Jin Shixun watched me, his brow furrowing slightly. Dragging his words out deliberately, he said coldly, “Where are you going?”
