Chapter 12: Are You Specifically Targeting Me?
I crawled out from under the table in a mess. Hearing Jin Shixun’s words, my heart filled with helplessness and disdain. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes dramatically and said irritably, “Then what exactly do you want?”
Jin Shixun looked at me, a meaningful smile curling at the corner of his lips. Slowly, he spoke, “My demands aren’t high. As long as I want you, you just have to be at my call whenever I summon you.”
Upon hearing that, my brows knitted tightly together, twisted like two ropes intertwined, and my tone was clearly resistant. “You’re dreaming.”
Before I finished speaking, Jin Shixun suddenly took a giant step forward and pinned me firmly against the table.
His gaze burned with fierce and domineering fire. A mischievous smile played on his lips as he spoke in a low, seductive voice, “Then let’s give it a try.”
Immediately, his lips crashed down like a storm, a fierce kiss that nearly left me breathless.
Over an hour later, Jin Shixun finally stopped. I gasped for air, my body feeling completely drained. Instinctively, I stretched lazily and slumped to the side.
Jin Shixun looked at me with a triumphant smile, a hint of teasing sparkling in his eyes. “So, how is it? Satisfied?”
I shot him a fierce glare, exhausted, and said, “Mr. Jin, can you be serious for once?”
Jin Shixun was slightly taken aback, seeming surprised by my reaction.
I rolled my eyes again, annoyed, “Mr. Jin, I’m barely hanging on by a thread here, how do you expect me to talk properly?”
Hearing this, Jin Shixun nodded thoughtfully. “True, but your body is too weak now; I’m afraid you won’t hold up.”
I pursed my lips, admitting silently that he wasn’t wrong. But in my current feeble state, I didn’t even have the energy to argue. Taking a deep breath, as if making a firm decision, I looked at Jin Shixun and said, “Mr. Jin, if what you want is this, I’m more than willing. But you have to pay me accordingly.”
Jin Shixun shot me a cold glance as if piercing through my soul. Calmly, he said, “You wanted money, right? I’ve prepared thirty thousand for you. Consider it today’s bonus. Go home and rest well.”
Hearing this, I rolled my eyes out of habit and muttered with a hint of dissatisfaction, “Mr. Jin, isn’t that a bit stingy?”
Jin Shixun raised an eyebrow, curiosity flickering in his eyes. “Then how much do you want?”
I rolled my eyes and teased provocatively, “What if I ask for an exorbitant amount?”
Jin Shixun paused slightly, then smiled faintly, as if seeing through my thoughts. “Fifty thousand.”
I was stunned by the number and repeated instinctively, “Fifty thousand?”
Jin Shixun nodded firmly, his gaze locked on me. “So? What do you say?”
I hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded in agreement.
---
Seeing this, Jin Shixun’s smile widened, a proud gleam in his eyes, as if everything was under his control. “I knew you’d say yes.”
Watching his expression, I couldn’t help but twitch the corner of my mouth, filled with helplessness.
After everything was done, Jin Shixun took me to my workstation, right outside his office.
I had heard from others that this spot was exclusively reserved for his personal secretary.
Ha! Am I really his personal secretary?
Bored, I sat in the chair, lazily glancing at the busy Jin Shixun inside the office. With nothing better to do, I turned on a TV show to pass the time.
Just as I was getting engrossed, I suddenly heard footsteps approaching from afar.
Then, a familiar voice reached my ears, “What are you doing here?”
I looked up to see Qi Yuzhou striding towards me.
As he neared, his sharp gaze locked onto me like a hawk, questioning, “Isn’t Su Xue supposed to be Jin Shixun’s personal secretary? Why are you here?”
Hearing this, I sighed inwardly.
Sure enough, he had come looking for me.
Squinting slightly, a trace of caution and coldness in my eyes, I looked at Qi Yuzhou and said, “Who told you I’m Jin Shixun’s personal secretary?”
Surprise flickered across Qi Yuzhou’s face, then he gave a half-smile laced with mockery. “I thought you were only following Jin Shixun because he pays better than me.”
I sneered, disdainful of his words. “Men are all the same—one face in front, another behind the back. Their words are sweeter than their songs. But it’s not just about the money.”
I truly liked Jin Shixun...
Upon hearing my admission, anger flared across Qi Yuzhou’s face. He stared fiercely at me, his eyes blazing as if about to shoot flames. “If that’s the case, why are you getting close to Jin Shixun? Don’t you know how complicated the Jin family is?”
Qi Yuzhou’s words only confirmed that Jin Siqi still didn’t know my true identity.
When I remained silent, Qi Yuzhou continued, “I don’t care what your purpose is for approaching Jin Shixun, but consider this a warning—stay away from him! Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
I chuckled lightly, my tone defiant and fearless. “Qi Yuzhou, who do you think you are to tell me what to do?”
A cold glint flashed in Qi Yuzhou’s eyes, but he said nothing more. Instead, he turned and walked toward Jin Shixun’s office.
I stood still, quietly waiting for Qi Yuzhou to leave.
Soon, I heard his voice from inside the office, “I’ve arranged everything just now.”
After finishing, he came out and casually closed the door behind him.
I shook my head, ignoring him.
But Qi Yuzhou wasn’t done. He came up close, towering over me, his gaze filled with undeniable authority. “I want you to understand that what I’m doing is to help you avoid a lot of trouble!”
I smiled faintly, calm and resolute. “I appreciate your goodwill, Young Master Qi, but this is between me and him. So, thank you, but I don’t need it.”
Seeing me so bluntly refuse, Qi Yuzhou’s face darkened menacingly. He glared at me, gritting his teeth, “Qin Xin, I advise you not to play any tricks!”
I smiled again, saying nothing more.
In fact, I could seize this chance to ruin the engagement between Qi Yuzhou and Jin Siqi.
At the thought, a playful smile unconsciously curled at the corner of my lips...
---
That evening, during dinner, Jin Shixun invited me out. I hesitated, torn inside, but eventually nodded in agreement.
At the hotel restaurant, we sat by the window.
Dish after dish arrived. Jin Shixun picked up his chopsticks, took a bite, and chewed slowly, his eyes somewhat vacant and contemplative.
Seeing this, my brows furrowed involuntarily. I softly asked, “Mr. Jin, what’s wrong?”
Jin Shixun slowly put down his chopsticks, fixing his gaze on me as he asked, “Do you know why I called you out to dinner?”
I shook my head, puzzled. “No, I don’t.”
Seeing my confusion, a faint, bitter smile appeared on his lips, tinged with helplessness. “Actually, the main reason I invited you tonight is because of Jin Siqi’s arranged marriage.”
