Volume 1, Chapter 30: Saving Lives Is My Specialty
Lin Guohua’s body was already frail and riddled with illness, his bones worn thin. With Lin Xiaoxu’s reckless actions, he was now on the verge of collapse.
"You idiot, stop! What is your intention? Are you trying to kill my husband?"
After casting a sharp glare at Lin Manru, Chen Xiuhong lunged at Lin Xiaoxu like a madwoman, attempting to pull the silver needles from the soles of Lin Guohua’s feet.
Fortunately, Lin Xiaoxu had been practicing the Nine Heavens Lingyun Technique; otherwise, his efforts would have been ruined. Just as Chen Xiuhong’s hands were inches away from the needles, he struck out with his palm, sending her reeling back the way she came.
"Mom, are you okay?" Lin Manru stepped forward to steady her.
After regaining her balance, Chen Xiuhong kept her head bowed and remained silent. The three people surnamed Lin in the room did not think much of it, but Chen Xiuhong alone knew that Lin Xiaoxu’s palm had struck her directly on the chest.
The realization that her chest had been touched by a man other than Lin Guohua made her face flush with an inexplicable, burning heat. Stealing a glance at Lin Xiaoxu, who was still focused on inserting the needles, her face turned even redder, and her heart began to race.
*Xiaoxu is actually so handsome... Being touched by him, I suppose it’s not a loss.*
No one spoke in the room, save for the occasional "hissing" sound from Lin Guohua’s lips. Two invisible streams of energy intertwined around Lin Xiaoxu. He placed his palms over the ends of the needles, channeling wisps of spiritual and internal energy into Lin Guohua’s legs to repair his long-severed bones and meridians.
A few minutes later, Lin Xiaoxu withdrew the needles.
"Uncle Lin, try to move your legs and see if they work."
Lin Guohua felt nervous. His legs had been crippled for six or seven years—many in the village called him "Cripple Lin" behind his back. Could they really be restored just by having needles stuck into his soles?
However, facing the eager, expectant gazes of Chen Xiuhong and Lin Manru, along with Lin Xiaoxu’s confident demeanor, Lin Guohua moved his legs.
"My God! My legs, they can actually move!"
Previously, Lin Guohua’s legs had been almost completely devoid of sensation. Now, he felt a surge of strength in them. He boldly attempted to lift them.
"Guohua, are your legs really healed?"
"Dad, congratulations! You’ve finally returned to normal!"
Chen Xiuhong and Lin Manru were so moved they were on the verge of tears. Over the years, because of Lin Guohua’s disability and the resulting complications, these two women—one old and one young—had shouldered the burden of this precarious household, suffering greatly.
"Xiaoxu, your mind... has it recovered? How were you able to magically heal my leg injury?"
When Lin Xiaoxu first entered the room, he had merely glanced at his legs and sworn he could heal them, asking if Lin Guohua trusted him. At the time, Lin Guohua had thought that since many doctors had already diagnosed him as permanently crippled, there was nothing to lose by letting the boy try. He never expected his legs would actually be healed.
"Uncle Lin, I was a top student who got into a prestigious provincial medical university. Healing the sick is my specialty."
An hour ago, Lin Xiaoxu had treated Chen Bao, and now he was treating Lin Guohua. The spiritual and internal energy in his dantian was nearly exhausted. He was physically drained, barely maintaining the strength to speak.
"That's right."
Lin Xiaoxu had been "silly" for four years, and many in the village had forgotten that he had once brought honor to his family by getting into medical school. Lin Guohua had no further doubts, giving Lin Xiaoxu a thumbs-up.
"Uncle Lin, your legs are still quite fragile. You should lift them often, massage them, and try to walk around a bit each day. I’ll write you a prescription; if you take the medicine three times a day, you should be back to normal within a month."
Lin Xiaoxu took out his phone, added Lin Manru on WeChat, and sent the prescription in a chat box.
In the corner, Chen Xiuhong stood with her head bowed and shoulders hunched, looking like a dejected quail. Since Lin Xiaoxu had indeed healed her husband’s legs, she was left wondering: was she now expected to eat the filth she had wagered?
Lin Xiaoxu couldn't be bothered to argue with Chen Xiuhong. He narrowed his eyes and looked at Lin Guohua’s waist.
"Uncle Lin, because your legs were crippled for years and you were bedridden, your gluteal and lumbar muscles have atrophied. The blood vessels are twisted, and circulation is blocked, which is why you have such severe numbness in your waist and buttocks."
Lin Guohua could not suppress his excitement; tears streamed down his face. "Xiaoxu, you’re right about everything!"
Ever since his accident at the construction site seven years ago, his life had been a nightmare. It wasn't just the legs—three or four years ago, his waist and buttocks had begun to go numb and stiff, eventually losing sensation entirely. At first, Chen Xiuhong’s massages and hot compresses helped, but eventually, they stopped working. For a long time, he could only move the parts of his body above his chest. He had seen countless doctors, spent thousands, yet his condition never improved.
"I can heal this for you too, Uncle Lin. You are not only my elder but also someone who looked after me during the four years I was considered a fool."
It was a time for Lin Xiaoxu to repay the kindness. He suddenly inserted a silver needle into Lin Guohua’s abdomen.
"The numbness is primarily due to poor circulation and electrolyte imbalance. The latter can be fixed with proper nutrition and mineral-rich foods. For the former, you need to walk, massage the area, and take hot baths if possible. Combined with my acupuncture, the numbness should be completely gone within half a month. For now, I’ve sealed your Zhongwan acupoint to relieve the numbness so you can get a good night's sleep. Once I recover my inner strength, I’ll continue the treatment."
