149. My Girlfriend is an Egg?

Chen Sheng’s frustrating daily life raising his daughter continued unabated. Under the strict condition of minimizing the use of divine power, he found himself nearly every day with twitching eyelids and bulging veins on his forehead.
This little rascal truly embodied the spirit of the great rebels at the end of the century. From initially unwillingly going to school, to eventually fully embracing it, she immediately formed a gang at school. With fairness and justice as the gang’s core principle, she proclaimed herself the gang leader and, unbeknownst to Chen Sheng, appointed him as the Supreme Elder.
At first, Chen Sheng merely regarded it as childish nonsense.
However, as fate would have it, the school did indeed suffer from significant management issues, such as treating students differently based on their parents’ social status and profession. Students with powerful or influential parents were greeted with smiles, while those with less privileged backgrounds were assigned the dirty and arduous tasks, lacking impartiality.
Thus, once this gang was established, it quickly gained the hearts of many students, eventually spreading even to the neighboring campus.
It’s worth noting that this neighboring campus belonged to a more advanced academic district.
While other districts might be less impressive, the students in that advanced district were significantly older than Chen Xiaoyi (the little ghost girl). Yet, despite the age gap, they called Chen Xiaoyi “leader” without hesitation.
Of course, this was largely thanks to the gang’s slogan, which resonated deeply: “True authority lies not in age, but in the height of one’s thoughts.” Those with lofty ideals, no matter how young, could justly be revered as teachers.
This philosophy alone won over a great many students from the advanced district, who then invited others to join the gang.
Had it not been for a member of another gang passing by and mistaking this for hostile interference, he might have thought it was his time to shine. After painstaking investigation and even going undercover, he met the so-called leader and realized it was just a little girl’s secret game, concocted behind her father’s back.
That member reportedly nearly fell into despair.
Enraged, he complained to Chen Xiaoyi’s martial arts instructor.
Thanks to this disclosure, the gang came to the attention of the teachers, who were stunned and promptly moved to shut it down.
Otherwise, at this rate of recruitment, it might have expanded to the next higher academic district.
It was said that some students in that next district had already contacted the gang, moved by its core values, and were preparing to join and help recruit new members.
“Impressive...”
Chen Sheng, once again visited by the martial arts instructor, learned of all this. After confirming the facts with his divine power, he took a slow sip of tea and couldn’t help but give Chen Xiaoyi a thumbs-up.
“Such proselytizing skill—thank heavens we’re not in the technological civilization world.”
Chen Xiaoyi blushed and modestly downplayed the praise.
“Well then, keep it up...” Chen Sheng, an easygoing and tolerant demigod who preferred to go with the flow, supported Chen Xiaoyi in this matter. He regarded it as his little rascal having created an interesting toy.
“Don’t worry, I’ll work hard!” Chen Xiaoyi was greatly encouraged but then shyly rubbed her small hands together and looked up at Chen Sheng.
“It’s just that if the gang keeps growing, without combat skills and martial arts manuals, people won’t follow me for long. Although I’ve established a fairly complete merit and honor system that grants some members star-like treatment, supporting their own interests as well as mine, this is a martial world—everything depends on strength.”
“That’s easy.” Chen Sheng’s mind churned casually. As he spoke, his divine power fluctuated, conjuring martial arts manuals and combat techniques out of thin air.
“Use these for now. They are embedded in your gang, and only those who truly support you can acquire them. Those who don’t sincerely back you won’t be able to master them even if they get them,” Chen Sheng added.
In this world, martial spirit education began after the first year of childhood schooling. Once students started cultivating martial spirit, it was best to learn martial arts manuals and sharpen combat techniques early.
However, the human upper echelons, fearing that commoners might rebel against their preordained futures or that prodigious martial talents might arise to shatter social hierarchies, strictly controlled and blocked access to these manuals and skills.
“Hehe, Master, you’re amazing! With these, I’ll make this gang the largest in the world!”
Chen Xiaoyi grinned from ear to ear, even boasting a bit.
After all, having a demigod as a backing, even an occasionally unreliable one, was a game-changer.
“By the way, what’s the gang’s name?” Chen Sheng asked casually.
“I wanted to call it the Azure Dragon Gang, but that already exists, so I named it the Reverse Dragon Gang!”
Chen Sheng: “...”
As expected, a name dripping with adolescent angst. Not surprising—if it weren’t a little over the top and stirring, it wouldn’t attract so many followers.
With that, Chen Sheng’s mind moved again.

“Then I’ll add a Dragon God Martial Arts Manual for you, divided into three volumes: lower, middle, and upper. The lower volume grants a preliminary display of Dragon God power, the middle cultivates Dragon Essence with a lifespan extending beyond a thousand years, and mastering the upper volume lets you summon divine power and transform into a dragon!” Chen Sheng declared, deciding to embrace some teenage flair himself.
Consider it a little fun to brighten his somewhat dull days.
“Summon divine power? Can you really summon the Dragon God?” Chen Xiaoyi’s eyes widened in astonishment, disbelief coloring her expression as she looked at Chen Sheng.
“Who said divine power must be the Dragon God’s? Isn’t my power divine? Can’t it let you become a dragon?” Chen Sheng shot her a sharp glare. He was a full-fledged demigod standing right there—did she think he was invisible?
The mortal rebel was getting more brazen by the day...
Though a demigod, he fancied himself a god.
Chen Xiaoyi quietly added this thought in her mind, nodding rapidly. She had no choice—she feared getting beaten.
In recent days, she had come to understand one thing deeply: ever since this rebellious disciple left the illusory world to become the last human on Earth, he no longer treated her as his master. Their roles had completely reversed.
But Chen Xiaoyi was philosophical about it—after all, Chen Sheng never really regarded her as a master anyway, so she bore no grudge.
Her concern stemmed from an odd fear and worry about this wayward disciple.
It was absurd—as if they shared some blood connection.
Then, happily, Chen Xiaoyi left.
With Chen Sheng’s backing, even a little was enough for her to dominate this world. At least when she encountered a fiercely dangerous anomaly, she could take it down single-handedly.
When Chen Sheng materialized the Dragon God Martial Arts Manual for her, enabling mastery of all three volumes and the ability to transform into a dragon, having a demigod as a patron felt indescribably exhilarating.
Watching those short legs scamper away, Chen Sheng felt an empty, “empty nest” kind of loneliness settle in.
He pondered and quickly found the cause.
It was the absence of someone long familiar to him—or rather, a demigod he had long known.
“Where are you?” Chen Sheng thought, muttering quietly to himself, not expecting an answer.
Yet, unexpectedly, he soon found himself slipping into sleep.
Something was off!
But upon seeing that familiar figure, all his tension and vigilance vanished instantly. He gazed at the familiar face of a jade-like stone girl, her delicate features as if sculpted by divine hands.
“Seeing you like this still feels strange,” Chen Sheng said softly.
Strange, yes, but not unfamiliar.
In his memory, that girl had never looked like this—nor could ordinary beings gaze upon her due to her high status, lest they be assimilated by her aura.
The stone girl fell into deep thought after hearing Chen Sheng’s words. She seemed to deliberate, then resolutely made a decision.
Then, a soft, tender voice whispered in Chen Sheng’s ear: “You’re right. This is no longer me. I must completely abandon my past.”
Crack—crack—cracks appeared and rapidly spread across the stone girl’s body. Small fissures that had been healing suddenly expanded, until she shattered like a broken ceramic doll.
Yet, from the fragments emerged a familiar young figure before Chen Sheng, her exquisite face smiling gently. She said nothing, but her eyes spoke volumes, compelling Chen Sheng to instinctively embrace her.
The girl also hugged him, nestling in his arms.
After an indeterminate time, she gently pushed him away and handed Chen Sheng a smooth, rounded stone orb.
“This is my life. I entrust it to you now.”
“I will return soon.”

“Then, I will be the true Yu Youxin.”
With that, the girl’s figure vanished, and Chen Sheng awoke from the dream.
He neither panicked nor looked around in confusion, but calmly gazed at the stone orb resting in his palm, steadily absorbing his divine power.
“I don’t know what you’ve encountered, but... I’ll wait for you.” A smile appeared in Chen Sheng’s eyes as he relaxed, allowing the orb to draw upon his divine power.
Every demigod is like a perpetual motion machine. Even the faint divine power of a second-tier demigod is inexhaustible, albeit drawn slowly.
And Chen Sheng was a fourth-tier demigod.
Having absorbed vast sources of life energy, surpassing biological limits, his demigod core had been indirectly elevated, granting him far greater power than others of his tier.
He was a demigod of formidable divine strength.
...
The Unsolvable Eternal Train continued its endless journey, drawing upon the power of the Eternal Unknown Realm to utterly reduce a mighty divine body to a corpse.
Without these suppressive forces, the divine body would dissipate its death aura and revive.
After all, demigods are beyond the definition of time.
This is why demigods can look down upon civilizations of intelligent beings. Regardless of how advanced their longevity techniques or how their bodies consume immortal matter to extend life to quasi-immortal levels, even those who declared themselves immortals once slew demigods.
More than half of the deceased demigods in the cosmic civilization chain died this way.
Yet, despite overwhelming combat power or lifespan measured in epochs, these beings only extend existence, never truly transcending the flow of time.
Chen Sheng’s somewhat awkward state stemmed from his gradual realization of the changes brought by being beyond time.
For a demigod, a thousand or ten thousand years, even the lifespan of a star collapsing into a black hole, holds no significance.
Incidentally, the Unsolvable Eternal Train was inspired by the strange power wielded by that divine body.
This power could assign new definitions to objects, even pulling demigods back into the constraints of time.
This fundamentally negated the demigod’s existential value.
That’s why the three great-tier demigods joined forces, still wary to this day.
In a cosmos governed by the Great Will, such overwhelming power was forbidden.
At that moment, the Unsolvable Eternal Train abruptly stopped. Deep within the Eternal Unknown Realm, the once-mighty divine body lost all vitality. Death aura spread, and the divine body died completely. Most of its terrifying divine power vanished.
Some shared divine power returned to the stone progenitor’s body, instantly healing the ancestral wounds.
“Is Gu Zang dead?” The stone progenitor showed no joy, only profound shock.
“How could she die?”
An ordinary demigod’s death was not rare—mortal bodies could rival gods.
But Gu Zang, the Empress of the Underworld, wielded the power to redefine objects. As long as she defined herself as eternally immortal, even if thrown back into the river of time, she could not die.
“Unless she defined her own death...” another high-tier demigod observed and spoke.
The three great-tier demigods fell into silence.
...
Chen Sheng, of course, was unaware of this. He was smiling and interacting with the stone orb, until he watched in disbelief as the orb, after absorbing much divine power, suddenly transformed into a perfectly smooth egg.
Chen Sheng’s radiant smile froze in place.
