You are too fast, I don't want you anymore.
The disappearance of the final origin of the fifth "Him" did not immediately cause this world—which appeared normal yet was profoundly bizarre—to perish. However, stripped of the fifth "Him"'s origin, this world would suddenly vanish on some upcoming day.
For this failed perfect world had originally been conjured out of nothingness.
"To cut off one's head and wear a mask is to escape death; the people here are no longer normal living beings," Chen Sheng remarked, before departing the city.
Reappearing within the lost mist, Chen Sheng cast his gaze toward the four narrow little paths.
Each of these four paths was narrower than the last.
The widest among them appeared roughly the breadth of an infant's arm, while the narrowest had become thin as a single thread.
With a single step, Chen Sheng materialized upon the path as wide as an infant's arm. Judging by the conclusions drawn from the previous two paths, this should have been left behind by the fourth "Him."
Yet upon reaching the end of this path, Chen Sheng found something amiss.
At the terminus of this path, another failed perfect world likewise existed. He could enter it, yet he chose not to.
Chen Sheng distinctly sensed that the moment he stepped inside, this failed perfect world would instantly dissolve, for that realm could not bear the presence of a "Him."
"Was this not left by the fourth deity? Why is the gap so vast compared to the fifth?" Chen Sheng pressed his hand against the entrance, attempting to divine the reason, but ultimately abandoned the thought and turned away.
Since his abilities had not expanded infinitely, it signified that this failed perfect world no longer contained any living souls.
Thus, Chen Sheng proceeded to the path which, judging by its width, should have belonged to the third "Him."
Yet upon reaching the end of this path, Chen Sheng faced once more the identical dilemma encountered at the previous terminus. The failed perfect world concealed at this end was likewise incapable of tolerating the arrival of a "Him."
Chen Sheng could not help but feel perplexed.
Repeatedly, just how profound were the failures of these failed perfect worlds?
Or could it be that these four more ancient, failed perfect worlds had all reached the precipice of collapse?
Harboring such doubts, Chen Sheng manifested upon the path presumably left by the second "Him." When he reached its end, the failed perfect world there, quite predictably, remained unable to sustain the presence of a "Him."
Consequently, Chen Sheng arrived at the final, smallest path. The terminus of this path had nearly ceased to exist altogether; yet upon his arrival, Chen Sheng discovered that he could indeed enter!
Gazing upon the sphere of white light before him, Chen Sheng stepped forward without hesitation.
As he crossed through the white light, what greeted his eyes was a rather dim world. The illumination here seemed to have been deliberately adjusted, overcast and murky like a drizzly day, blurring the scenery and obstructing Chen Sheng's vision.
His omniscience failed him here.
For though Chen Sheng could perceive people, at this moment his own power was not infinitely amplified.
This failed perfect world was vastly different.
This realization suddenly dawned upon Chen Sheng's mind. Shifting his gaze, he began to observe this failed perfect world left behind by the very first "Him."
Walking forward, he discovered that every single person here emitted a distinct glow.
There were very few varieties of color—merely two.
One was red, while the other was white. Those radiating a red glow constituted the minority, whereas individuals gleaming with white light were numerous.
Depending on their radiance, the personalities of the inhabitants differed starkly.
The red glow resembled flowing blood. Though it was light, it carried a faint reek of carnage. Those who bore this radiance were intensely belligerent and vicious; even when they did not come to blows, they incessantly plotted against one another in secret.
The white light was far more composed, never erupting into violent strife, at the very least.
The contrast between the red and the white was exceptionally sharp, discernible at a single glance.
Chen Sheng continued his observations.
Though this place possessed a certain peculiarity capable of faintly suppressing his power, it was merely faint. Being a deity, he acknowledged no adversaries.
Therefore, Chen Sheng stood quietly in place, yet none could perceive him.
Subsequently, Chen Sheng observed that the concept of marriage and procreation did not exist among these people; no one desired descendants, nor was there any notion of employment or labor. No one would starve to death merely for refusing to work.
This was utterly astounding.
Ordinary mortals could not survive without labor; why were the people here so peculiar?
Chen Sheng promptly inspected closer, only to discover the reason why they needed neither marriage nor labor: it was simply because the inhabitants here were incapable of true death!
No matter who they were, when an individual's life reached its twilight, they would have themselves buried.
Following this, a layer of cocoon would form over their physical body.
After a certain period elapsed, the cocoon would rupture, and an infant would leap forth from the fissure, much like a monkey born from a cleft in the stone.
The people here were all parentless, nurtured by the heavens themselves.
These infants could either inherit all their previous memories or choose to erase their past lives, beginning anew to traverse once more the entire cycle from infancy to old age.
Consequently, through the vast expanse of time, most inhabitants here had lost the urge for violence and contention—hence the origin of the white radiance. In stark contrast stood the red radiance.
The manifestation of the white hue signified that an individual participated in no strife whatsoever.
Conversely, if those possessing the red radiance engaged in battle, they were strictly forbidden from dragging anyone bearing the white radiance into the conflict, even if the white-radiant individual was merely a spectator.
These red and white radiances resembled the killing mode and peaceful mode in a video game.
Once the peaceful mode was toggled, players in the killing mode could not assault those in peaceful mode. Yet simultaneously, peaceful players were barred from attacking hostile players; otherwise, their own radiance would instantaneously transform from the white light of non-contention into the red light of power struggles!
Witnessing this, Chen Sheng understood why the creation of this perfect world had failed.
"Neither death nor illness can threaten the people here, and death is tantamount to rebirth. From this perspective, the inhabitants here are likewise no longer normal living beings."
Rather than viewing the beings here as humans, it was more appropriate to regard them as a flock of strange creatures shaped in human guise.
"Yet how could such a failed perfect world suppress me?"
Sensing that a profound secret was concealed within, Chen Sheng manipulated the wheel of time within this realm, accelerating the temporal flow.
Gradually, only red and white remained in Chen Sheng's field of vision; and ultimately, the red vanished entirely, leaving only white. Yet the moment his gaze swept across a landscape bathed entirely in white radiance, every trace of white transformed into red in a single instant.
Gazing upon the blood-soaked expanse, Chen Sheng paused momentarily before realizing he had uncovered the core of the problem.
He reached out, stayed the wheel of time, and plucked a cluster of baleful black Qi from within.
Entrapped within this black mist were fragments of deliberate, lingering whispers.
*"He feeds upon the power of mortal ages, yet shall be bound and slain by the world through that very power. Unless a flawless world capable of accommodating the propagation of living beings is forged, He shall be utterly annihilated thereby. When the next age of mortal decay arrives, it shall be the day of His complete demise."*
The black Qi dissipated, but the words embedded within it were deeply etched into Chen Sheng's mind.
He finally understood why the preceding "Him's" had desperately sought to forge a perfect world one after another, even exhausting their very origins in the process.
The age of mortal decay unfailingly recurred once every few centuries!
"Still, a flawless world and a perfect world—though separated by merely two characters, the gulf between them is vast indeed!"
Chen Sheng mused inwardly.
With that, he departed the failed perfect world suspected of belonging to the first "Him."
Re-emerging within the lost mist, Chen Sheng stood in silence for a long while before his gaze refocused. He stowed away the lost mist and took a single step, exiting the bizarre realm known as the "Daoist World of Ghosts."
Crossing worlds with the physique of a deity yielded a profoundly different sensation; he could even sense the gold-rimmed spectacles trembling slightly.
It was fear of him that gripped the spectacles.
Therefore, Chen Sheng casually intervened himself, parting the barrier between the two realms and returning to his original whereabouts.
Within that rented apartment.
Chen Sheng materialized instantly, but upon his return, his gaze involuntarily drifted toward the exterior scene.
For reasons unknown, a powerful sense of unreality suddenly wrapped around his heart, as though everything he beheld were false and nonexistent.
Yet a "Him" would neither suffer hallucinations nor harbor erroneous cognitions.
Chen Sheng could not help but be stunned.
"Ah, Old Chen, you're back?" Came the familiar greeting.
Listening to the soft, tender voice of the young girl, Chen Sheng turned and looked. With a single glance, he perceived her true form beneath layers of meticulous concealment.
It was a body of stone, its process of resurrection artificially severed, wherein pale-golden blood—unlike that of ordinary humans—flowed sluggishly.
For the first time, Chen Sheng saw the delicate young girl in her true guise. Yet she remained as pleasing to the eye as ever, though gazing upon Yu Youxin's stony vessel reminded him of a jest: *The Monkey King actually had parents.*
Amused by his own train of thought, Chen Sheng cast his gaze outward once more, observing the world where he had seemingly lived for over two decades.
The longer he looked, the more suspicious he grew, as that sense of unreality continued to expand in his heart.
"Old Chen, why aren't you speaking?" The young girl skipped over unconcernedly, her bright, expressive eyes flashing with mischief. "Old Chen, good news! Your sister is coming over tomorrow!"
Chen Sheng froze upon hearing this.
Then he fell silent. After a moment, before Yu Youxin could speak again, he softly asked, "Do I really have a sister?"
"Old Chen, what's wrong with you?" Yu Youxin paused, bewildered as to why Chen Sheng would suddenly ask such a thing, utterly unaware that he had ascended to divinity.
In her eyes, Chen Sheng was merely an ordinary man who practiced arcane carvings on stone with peculiar zeal and mistook that bizarre realm for a healing video game.
"You'll understand in a moment." Chen Sheng smiled faintly, then reached out a hand. Instantly, the bizarre world responded to his summons, colliding with this realm in a fraction of a second.
There was no tremor of the earth, yet the power originating from the "Daoist World of Ghosts" began flooding into this world. However, before it could breach far, it was intercepted by a similarly bizarre force.
It was the "Phantoms and Ghouls" mounting a defense.
This was the source of anomaly in this world, yet at this very moment, it took the initiative to safeguard the realm.
With the shift in Chen Sheng's aura, the young girl finally reacted belatedly. Her delicate face registered utter astonishment, her lips parting slightly: "Old Chen, when did you find out?"
Faced with Chen Sheng unleashing such immense power within this realm, how could she fail to realize that he had discovered the "Daoist World of Ghosts" was no mere healing video game of his imagination?
Facing Yu Youxin's inquiry, Chen Sheng merely looked at her, the corners of his mouth curving upward: "Guess."
As these words fell from Chen Sheng's lips, the sun happened to sink completely below the horizon, stripping the world of its final vestige of light—as if heralding that from this day forward, the sun would never rise again!
Chen Sheng still perceived those "Phantoms and Ghouls," and struck out against them across the void.
Instantly, the supernatural domain of the "Phantoms and Ghouls" shattered, though the spectral entities within did not perish; instead, they plunged en masse into the "Daoist World of Ghosts."
Thus, the supernatural invasion met with no further resistance.
A vast deluge of bizarre power poured downward, causing malevolent spirits visible to all living beings to manifest across the world.
"Old Chen, what is happening?" Feeling the chaotic dance of demons outside, the young girl asked in alarm, staring instinctively at Chen Sheng.
"When a world devoid of supernatural power enters a state of solidification, resources flow solely upward rather than trickling back down. At such times, a powerful external force is required to shatter the monopoly of existing powers, thereby reorganizing resources and granting everyone an opportunity."
Chen Sheng spoke calmly, his reply seemingly irrelevant to her question.
Yet this was the truth of his heart.
For a perfect world was beyond his capacity to forge.
However, a flawless world was something he could attempt to piece together.
A human society where class solidification could never permanently take root—whenever stratification emerged, various external forces would manifest to break the monopolization of classes and redistribute resources.
There could be temporary victors, but no eternal ones.
Would not such a world constitute a flawless realm?
From a certain perspective, this was likewise a perfect world—and a successful one at that!
Yet the spectacle unfolding outside did not truly adhere to the state of absolute fairness he described.
Chen Sheng had deliberately gone a little easy...
Not by much, perhaps just the equivalent of an ocean's worth.
Whenever capitalists and the privileged appeared, the spectral entities born of supernatural forces started at least at the blood-light tier, possessing a high probability of escalating into fierce-category ghouls, or even summoning malevolent spirits wielding instruments of execution.
Yet when ordinary mortals were involved, only misfortune-tier ghosts would appear...
After all, Chen Sheng merely wished for this world to satisfy the criteria of a flawless realm, not plunge into annihilation.
The world was changing at breakneck speed, while the time within this rented apartment remained frozen in place. The young girl finally realized this, and as she gazed at Chen Sheng with a bewildered expression, about to voice a question, her delicate features abruptly shifted. Her pretty brow furrowed: "You succeeded? How could you succeed! Doesn't that mean I have nothing left to play with? I refuse to go back!"
The young girl pouted, grumbling complaints at Chen Sheng before glaring at him with puffed cheeks: "Hmph, Old Chen, you're too fast! I don't want you anymore!"
Chen Sheng: "..."
The words were innocent enough, but why
